The moon is a traitor, I used to believe I’ll meet my mate before I turn 18. It’s every young werewolf’s dream. To be mated when the right time comes, I used to believe my time will never come. Birthdays after birthdays, and my mate never came. My Mom told me I’ll meet the right person someday, just like when she met Dad. I thought a fairytale ending was cliche and only happens to some people.
I accepted my fate to be a lone wolf a long time ago.
“I don’t think it‘s wise to be acquainted with your meal.” The guy beside me says. “Meal?” I repeated.
“Yes, dear. He’ll eat yo-” Before he could finish the guy loomed close to us. He took time to examine my face, his eyes traveled from my body to my arms. “Why can’t you move your arms?” He c***s a brow.
It’s the first time I heard his voice, it’s captivating. He could lull me to sleep just by his voice. “Wolf’s bane.” I simply answer.
“Knocking her out with wolf’s bane twice isn’t enough already?” He shoots the other guy a look, enough to make him step back. “She’s an alpha, who knows what she’s capable of. It's preventive measure.” He chuckles nervously with his hands up. “With that amount of wolf’s bane she’s not going anywhere.” He takes a yarn from his desk and reaches to my arm, infusing it with wolf’s bane before tying it around my neck.
It burns deep to my skin, I winced from the pain, but it subsided, when he caressed my face with his thumb.
With one swift move, my hands were set free, I rubbed them back and forth. “You’re supposed to lick them like a puppy right?” The other guy imitates a puppy licking its hands.
“It looks better when you do it.” I spat. He c***s his brow, with an amused smile plastered on his face. “Feisty.” He sneers.
“Enough.” The guy shot him another look. “What’s your name?” He turns his attention back to me.
“Celeste.” I reply, if a look from him is enough to shut the stupid guy up, he must be someone important.
I don’t want to get on his bad side if that’s true. “I’m your new master, from now on you’re mine.”
I’m his?! What the f**k does he mean? After he told me he’s my new master, we were stopped abruptly with a knock. I didn’t get the chance to talk when they both left.
Another woman assisted me up to my room after the whole conversation. I could snap her head but that wouldn’t do me any good. I’m still under the influence of wolf’s bane, I might be able to kill this one but this place is surely crawling with vampires. I don’t think I’ll be alive to see the day if I try to escape now.
“Master will be visiting you from time to time. You should hold your tongue when you speak, Master does whatever he wants. If you’re lucky enough he’ll let you live for days before ending your life.” She made sure to close the door loud.
She looked so uptight, her words seemed like something a robot would say. I have never met any vampires before, I never thought they’d be so Victorian era.
The room is like a maid’s quarter, only a bonk bed and a window with iron locks. At least it’s clean, I comforted myself. My eyes felt heavy as I rested my head on the headboard. I want to go home.
When I woke up, a pair of brown eyes greeted me. They were inviting, unlike the woman’s from last night. She looks jolly, smiling at me. “You’re a werewolf right?” She asks with full adoration on her face. I quickly shot up and covered myself. “Don’t be scared, I won’t hurt you. Well, I can’t hurt you.” She scratches the back of her head.
I don’t think she’s a vampire, she doesn’t look like one. “I’m Izzy. A half breed. My Dad’s a vampire, my Mom’s a human.”
“You’re an abomination.” I whispered, but I know she heard it.
“Nobody accepted me, Master Deacon was generous enough to let me stay and serve him. He’s not all bad, but I guess we don’t have the same situation.” She stares at me. “So can you turn into a werewolf?” She asks again enthusiastically.
I shook my head. “Your master is kind enough to make sure I won’t be able to.” I sound spiteful, because I am.
“That’s sad.” She pouts. “Here’s food by the way, and some fresh clothes. Master instructed me to serve you while you’re here.” She hands me a plate of eggs and bacon. “I didn’t realize I’m hungry.” I say, accepting the food.
When I was done, she had me take a shower inside the bathroom. The fresh clothes were nicer than the rag I was wearing from last night. Hopefully whoever owns that decides to make a wardrobe change.
“I know it would look good on you!” She jumps up and down. “Mistress Agatha owns that, she’s never here anymore.” Her face turns sad.
That Agatha must mean a lot to her. She shakes the feeling off and plasters another smile. “It’s almost time for dinner. I have to prepare before the Master wakes up.” She excuses herself. I heard the lock from the other side of the door open, a guard standing still outside came to view. “The door opens from outside.” She scratches the back of her head again, slightly embarrassed.
“Of course, preventive measures.” I nudged her shoulder. That cheered her up. She took the tray from the bed before heading out.
I was left alone with my thoughts again. I can feel my wolf weakening again, this isn’t good.
I plopped down the bed, rubbing my temples. I hope they already found my parents. They’ll be looking for me next. I’ll try to survive until then.
