Chapter8

I gently sit down on my bed. To say I'm devastated will be an understatement. Why did the Mafia gang leader hug me? No. The right question is; why is he in my house? Why did Grandpa get involved with such deadly people? Will they ask him to sell his granddaughter to them? "Reyna, stop it. You're thinking too much." Riri touches me. "I want to go back to Canada." I say, slowly. "You're going to be fine, and if what just happened is what I think it is, then you will not be going anywhere any time soon. "What do you think it is?" I ask. I deserve to know. "I'm not sure, but only the Alpha can tell, and that is why we have to go downstairs. "I don't want to go down." I refuse, in a bratty way. "It is either you go down, or comes to get you himself." Riri provides. Is that a threat? Do I look like I could be threatened? "Just come down, let's hear what he has to say. I am curious." She explains. Well if you put it in that way, then I can't refuse . I love tea . I get up from my bed, and join Riri who is standing. She opens the door, and waits for me to step out first. "Come sit here cupcake." Grandma says, immediately she sees me walking down the stairs. "Seat here." The Alpha guy says. What makes him think he could tell me where to sit in my own house? I go towards grandma, and sit next to her. The Alpha guy looks displeased, but resist the visible urge to say something. Why would I listen to him in the first place? For some reason, Riri seems to adore the guy, and so do my grandparents. They look at him with such admiration and respect. I don't like illegal deals, and that is the reason I can't stand this guy. Save for his illegal dealings, he's a fine species. An equally young man is seated on the same couch as the Alpha guy. He is also a handsome guy with sandy blonde hair, but I think he has some behavioral issues. Because tell me why since I entered the living room, he has not taken his eyes off me. Has he never seen an annoyed girl before? I look at everyone's faces, and notice one thing in common. Shock, surprise, and belief. Ha! What is wrong with them? "This is Mario, my right-hand man." Alpha guy introduces Stranger introducing another stranger to others. Bunch of strangers. I still don't understand the purpose of this unsolicited visit. "To cut everything short. What happened here in this room should not leave this room," He says. I'm not even aware of what happened in this room in the first place. So why am I here? Grandpa looks so deep in his thoughts while Grandma is uncomfortable. Riri sits on the couch opposite me, and I can't even tell what expression she has on. She doesn't look freaked out or happy. The quietness in this room is thick with tension and suffocating, a situation I hate, so in an attempt to cut it short, I ask the first thing that comes to my mind. "So why are you here? Why are we all here?" I ask. Riri and the Mario guy look amused. Alpha looks a bit surprised then, relaxed. I don't turn to look at my grandparents, but I know they were not expecting me to speak. Well, surprise! I mean the devil is already in my home. What more do I fear? "I followed your scent." Alpha replies, looking directly at me. "Are you a dog?" I ask, because that is a dog's specialty. Alpha's eyebrows knit together in displeasure, and he looks away sighing. Mario seems to be controlling a smile, same with Riri. I didn't know I was that funny. "And I just want to make this clear. If my grandpa got involved with you and is owing you anything, that is your problem with him and it does not involve me. So do not think I will be traded for something I know nothing about. Thank you." I take a breath after my speech. I hope I made myself clear, because these Mafia men like to possess daughters of their debtors, and I refuse to have anything to do with it. Period! Mario looks at me like a child looking at a puzzle. Alpha looks genuinely confused, squeezing the skin on his forehead in thought as though he's trying to make sense of what I've just said. Whether they get me or they pretend not to understand what I am saying is not my business, but I've made my point, so I get up and sashay to my room. Badass! I look behind me and don't see Riri following. I must say I'm disappointed in how slow she can be. Don't she know where her loyalty lies? I go back to peep around the corner to see if she is coming and that's when I hear it. "Meet me outside." I hear Alpha say to Doris. Well, whatever he tells her, she's going to tell me in return, so I go to wait for her in my room. After some minutes of waiting, Riri finally returns. I jump into a sitting position when I see her come in through the door. "What did he say? " I ask, without missing a bit. "Nothing serious. He just wants me to take care of you since you are new around here." She answers, making me roll my eyes. "Didn't you tell him that I have been here for more than 2 weeks?" I inquire. "That's still new." Comes her answer. Whatever. "He's not that ugly." I comment, on his looks, making her laugh. He's not ugly at all. "So why is he finding it difficult to find a girlfriend then?" I'm curious because someone with his looks will thrive in Hollywood, and I'm not kidding. "It's not that easy, but he has found his mate," She informs. Wow. Good for him. "Since when?" I ask, because a few days back I heard them saying something about him being single and bitter. "Very recent." Comes her answer. "Did you notice that he is very weird?" I ask her. "How so?" She looks interested. "The way he burst into my room like a maniac and hugged me sniffing my hair, he is so gross." I narrate, making her laugh. "I'm serious! I was so shocked." I say, ignoring the part where I felt little sparks, more like tickles where he touched me. Thinking about it now, did I get butterflies? "Did you feel anything unusual when he touched you?" She asks. "No" I lie. It would be embarrassing to tell her about the tickles or how good he smelled. She's eyeing me suspiciously. "What?" I question. "Are you still in love with that guy you were texting last time?" She asks. Why is she suddenly curious about my life. Well, I'd love to tell her. "I'm not in love with him." I say shyly. She gives me the look that screams 'I don't believe you.' "I'm serious. It was just a crush," I inform. "Right." She comments. "We kissed though." I decide to spill. "Way to go girl. Was it good?" She asks. "Well, I liked it." I blush. "So why are you not dating?" She inquires. I don't even know why. "According to what I overheard him say, he's waiting for me to clock 18 years. That will be in 2 weeks." I explain. I'm not sure again. Considering the distance issue. "I don't think she should stop you from dating someone you actually love." She inputs. Riri is never scared to give her opinion. I think so too. Which is why I initiated that kiss. "Well, Kenny thought differently." I say quietly. "You could be dating and doing the appropriate things within the age limit." She adds. "You have a point." I admit. I try not to think too deep, besides it was just a crush, and at the moment I have more pressing things to deal with. Like the fact that a Mafia hugging maniac with no respect for personal space knows my name. I should be scared, but I'm not. I just want to avoid the man like a plaque. I feel like he's dangerous. Who am I kidding? The man is dangerous. I will talk to Grandpa later regarding his involvement with the Mafia. If he needs help, mom can help him settle his debts. Or we could all go to Canada. But the man is hot regardless.
