Chapter 21

940 Words
Noah’s POV I think I have an idea on how to help her wolf. I can’t guarantee it will solve all our problems but-“ Fathers voice cut through my sentence “Let’s hear it boy something is better then nothing” Evelyn’s POV I told them I told them she wouldn’t stop, but did they listen? No, and this time she blocked me out completely. I had no sound, no vision. It was just me in the darkness of my mind. “Stop your whining. It’s not like you like hearing anyway,” my wolf growled. “Well, it would have been better than just leaving me in the dark literally!!” I snapped. She huffed in annoyance. “Why do you hate me so much? What have I done to you? ” I asked, my voice breaking a little. “You’ve done nothing. You’re just collateral damage,” she sighed with no hesitation in her voice. “So, this is going to be our life, huh? Just you being distant for the rest of our lives?” She didn’t respond. My eyes felt heavy, and my head hurt. I rubbed my temples softly, feeling my whole body tremble. She really did a number on us this time. “Well, even if you’re angry, angry at the world, or angry at getting me as a human, I just want to let you know I love you, and even in your darkest state, I love you.” Again, no response, but at least she knew what I felt. I tried to get up, but my legs felt like noodles. “I really took a beating,” I muttered to myself, looking over my body. It was bruised entirely. My stomach dropped hearing Noah’s voice. He came out of the dark corner of the interrogation room. I hadn’t even realized he was standing there with his hands in his pockets. “What happened?” I asked nervously. His eyes, cold and distant, didn’t answer right away. Was he mad? Did I fight him? Or worse, did I injure someone? “I guess the same thing you had explained earlier. She shifted and fought restlessly. Except this time, she fought the King, ” he said as he kneeled next to me. I gasped. “She disrespected the crown. I’m so sorry. I—.” He waved his hand. “It’s okay. Father knew what he was doing, and we were able to speak to her,” he confirmed. “And did she say anything helpful?” I asked. “She did and she didn’t. Turns out her mate wasn’t so kind to her, and now she’s out for vengeance,” he confirmed. “What did they do to her?” I frowned. “Horrible, inhumane things were done to her,” he answered gently, his blue eye closed slightly as if re-living a memory. “But we are here to make sure she heals from past trauma,” he said, caressing my cheek gently. An involuntary growl erupted from my throat. My hand shot up to my mouth to filter the sound. “It’s okay, let her feel what she wants to feel. We’re not hiding her anymore, and we’re not fighting against her anymore.” “What’s that supposed to mean?” “It means she’s free, free to do as she pleases,” he breathed. “Noah, you can’t. She’s dangerous! She’ll tear up entire packs!” “Strangely enough, I have a feeling deep down inside your wolf knows what she’s doing is wrong. She knows this world has nothing to do with her past, but we are here to honor her and protect her like she wasn’t in her past life. From now on, she is free. Free to do as she pleases, free to make her own choices,” he said with no conviction in his voice. I looked at him with disbelief. Is this some kind of joke? There’s no way they’re letting her out just to go rogue. “He’s right,” said Nathan from the other side of the room, his tall form coming out of the shadows of the interrogation room. “But before we let you out of here, Evelyn, we have something for you, and we hope Artemis will allow you to experience it.” My wolf rumbled loudly inside my chest. “Don’t call me by name,” she mind-linked. “I don’t want anything from them. Decline now!!” She growled. I shook my head. “She wants us to decline,” I told them softly. “It will take max 2 hours, Artemis, please,” they begged she rumbles in my chest again, and I could feel her pacing inside my mind. She did a small huff. I could feel the curiosity forming inside her. “I think she’s accepted?” I frowned, not sure of what was going on. “Perfect, come on,” the Alpha twins said and grabbed my hand in an attempt to pull me up. “ Don’t touch me!!” She shouted at them. Their hands let go of me immediately as if I’m on fire or something. “Sorry, I can’t control what she makes come out of my mouth,” I tell them. They nod once, walking in front of me. We make our way back up the stairs; we are no longer in a holding cell. I swallow what feels like a ball against my throat. I can see the alphas looking back every once in a while, making sure either I’m okay or that I haven’t shifted yet…
