THE LAST MOONBORN

Episode 1 — The Red Moon

Episode storyline

Opening — The Red Moon

Maelis, 17, stands alone on a cliff overlooking the territory of her wealthy werewolf pack. The strange red moon rises over the mountains.

MAELIS: “It's beautiful.”

Her peaceful moment is interrupted when her mother calls her from a distance.

But Maelis immediately hears something unusual in her mother's voice.

Fear.

The Black Wolf

Before Maelis can reach her mother, an enormous black wolf appears.

Maelis is frightened, but the wolf doesn't attack.

Instead, he studies her.

The wolf recognizes the ancient blood within her.

This is Riven, an Alpha.

But Maelis doesn't know that.

The Hunters

Specialist wolf hunters enter the area searching for Maelis.

They aren't ordinary soldiers. They belong to a faction with no wolf blood, but they've been trained for generations to hunt werewolves.

Riven realizes what they're after.

Maelis.

He steps between her and the hunters.

Then Maelis hears a voice inside her mind.

RIVEN: Run.

She looks at the enormous wolf.

RIVEN: I'll hold them off.

Maelis realizes he's communicating with her without speaking.

She runs.

Riven stays behind and holds the hunters off long enough for Maelis to escape.

Then he disappears.

The Return

Maelis reaches her family's enormous estate.

Her mother rushes toward her.

MOTHER: “Where were you?”

MAELIS: “You called me. I heard fear in your voice.”

Her mother tries to hide her fear.

Then Maelis tells her:

MAELIS: “There was a wolf.”

Her mother freezes.

MAELIS: “A huge black one.”

Her mother doesn't answer.

Maelis realizes:

Her mother knows something.

Riven's Reveal

We cut to another part of the territory.

A massive, luxurious estate belonging to Riven's pack.

Riven returns.

For the first time, we see him in human form.

A pack member approaches.

PACK MEMBER: “Did you find her?”

Riven looks toward the mountains.

RIVEN: “Yes.”

PACK MEMBER: “The Moonborn?”

Riven pauses.

RIVEN: “She's alive.”

Final Scene

Back at Maelis's home, her mother secretly enters an old locked room.

Inside are ancient records.

She opens a document containing the history of the five Moonborn.

Four are marked as lost.

The fifth image looks unmistakably like Maelis.

Her mother whispers:

MOTHER: “It's starting.”

CUT TO BLACK.

END OF EPISODE 1

Episode 2 — The Bloodline

SCENE 1 — THE LOCKED ROOM

The episode opens immediately after Episode 1.

Maelis is asleep in her bedroom.

Meanwhile, her mother is still inside the hidden room.

She studies the ancient records of the five Moonborn.

She touches the drawing of the fifth.

MOTHER: “You were never supposed to know.”

She closes the book as footsteps approach.

Maelis's mother quickly hides the records.

Maelis appears in the doorway.

MAELIS: “Mom?”

Her mother turns.

MOTHER: “You should be asleep.”

MAELIS: “What were you doing?”

Her mother doesn't answer.

Maelis notices the old book.

MAELIS: “What's that?”

MOTHER: “Nothing you need to worry about.”

Maelis doesn't believe her.

SCENE 2 — THE MORNING AFTER

The next morning, the pack estate is alive.

Werewolves train in a massive private courtyard. Luxury vehicles move around the property. Staff and pack members go about their routines.

Maelis joins her friends/fellow pack members.

But something is different.

She's distracted.

One of them asks:

“What's wrong with you?”

MAELIS: “Nothing.”

“You're acting strange.”

Maelis hesitates.

MAELIS: “I met a wolf last night.”

They laugh at first.

Then Maelis describes how enormous it was.

Their expressions change.

One of them quietly says:

“An Alpha.”

SCENE 3 — THE HUNTERS REPORT

We cut to the hunters.

They're back at their headquarters.

A leader examines footage and tracking information from the previous night.

HUNTER: “We found the girl.”

Another asks:

“Did you capture her?”

HUNTER: “No.”

“Why?”

The hunter hesitates.

HUNTER: “An Alpha intervened.”

Silence.

The leader becomes concerned.

LEADER: “Which Alpha?”

HUNTER: “We don't know.”

The leader looks at the red moon symbol engraved on the table.

LEADER: “Then find out.”

SCENE 4 — RIVEN

We finally spend more time with Riven.

He's in his estate with members of his Alpha council.

One of them questions him.

COUNCIL MEMBER: “You risked yourself for a girl from another pack.”

RIVEN: “I didn't risk myself.”

COUNCIL MEMBER: “Then why interfere?”

Riven looks toward the mountains.

RIVEN: “Because she's Moonborn.”

Everyone becomes silent.

One member says:

“Impossible.”

Riven responds:

“I felt it.”

He doesn't explain further.

SCENE 5 — MAELIS'S STRANGE DREAM

That night, Maelis dreams.

She's standing in a strange ancient forest beneath the red moon.

Five figures stand in the distance.

She can't see their faces.

One turns toward her.

Then Maelis hears a whisper:

“Five were born.”

Another voice:

“Four were lost.”

Then all the figures disappear except one.

The final figure looks directly at her.

“One remains.”

Maelis wakes suddenly.

Her eyes briefly appear an unusual.
