BLOOD WAS THE BEGINNING
CHAPTER ONE
The body,
“How does it look like in death”
A voice asked on the other end of the earbuds.
“Like it missed a good f**k”
Veil answered with a smirk on her face….
“Wonder how the Mayor would feel hearing his son died with a b***r” Umber reasoned.
Think more of Leader's reaction.
We make a perfect match you know…
Veil smiled.
Come home safe though”Umber cautioned
Much as I hate you, I still need you here.
Can't handle” you know who” temper alone.
“Beats me how you also finish a Misson before I do”
Veil scoffed in playful resentment
They were just three right now
But tonight that would be changing,a new set of recruits were joining the sisterhood today.
A dark beautiful, chaotic future awaited them.
———
The chamber was not built for mercy.
It lay buried beneath layers of earth and forgotten history, carved from stone that had outlived empires and swallowed secrets without complaint. Symbols lined the walls—ancient, deliberate, unforgiving. Firelight flickered against them, casting shadows that seemed to move with purpose, as though the room itself were alive.
The air smelled of iron, smoke, and old vows.
At the center of the chamber stood a woman dressed entirely in black.
She did not pace. She did not fidget. She did not look uncertain. She stood as though she belonged there—as though the darkness had shaped itself into her form.
She would one day be known by a single name whispered with fear and reverence.
NOCTYRA"
For centuries a tradition had been abandoned and forgotten, allowing some certain behavior to rule…
Tonight she was here to change that.
on her hand rested a ceremonial blade, its surface etched with runes that caught the firelight. She raised it without ceremony and pressed the steel against her palm. The cut was clean, quick and silent.
Blood welled instantly, dark and thick, dripping onto the sigil carved into the stone beneath her bare feet.
Around her, six women knelt in a perfect circle.
They came from different corners of the world, with different roots, scars and heritage.
Africa,Asia,Europe,The Americas. Some bore scars visible even in the dim light. Others carried wounds that could not be seen. Each had arrived through different paths—war, betrayal, abandonment, survivial.
Noctyra lifted her gaze, her eyes cold and steady as they swept across the circle. She did not offer comfort. She did not offer reassurance. That was not why they were here.
“Blood before breath,” she began,as the sisters listened.
Her voice was calm, controlled, and absolute. It echoed against stone and bone alike.
One by one, the women followed her lead. Blades flashed briefly. Skin parted. Blood fell. No one screamed. No one hesitated. Pain was expected. Pain was proof, pain was power.
The blood flowed into narrow grooves carved into the floor, winding toward the sigil until it merged into a single, dark stream. Individual lives dissolved into something collective—something permanent.
“We are bound,” the women said together.
“No men,” Noctyra continued.
“No men.”They echoed.
“No children.”Noctyra declared.
“No children.”They responded
“Only ourselves.”
“Only the Sisterhood.”It was sealed.
The final words settled heavily in the chamber. The oath did not feel symbolic. It felt final, like a life sentence.
Noctyra stepped forward, her boots silent against stone stained with blood. She moved slowly, deliberately, stopping before each woman in turn. She studied them not just as people, but as weapons in the making.
“You will abandon your names,” she said. “Your families. Your former lives. You will not love. You will not soften. You will not hesitate.”
Hesitation could,she paused
Would get you killed.
They are our enemies, they push us,they rule over us,they kill, but now, we'll show how much power lies in the bosom of a woman.“
The power we wield."
Her every word met silence with power.
Her Hazel dark eyes hardened.
“Disobedience will be punished. Betrayal will be answered with death.”
She turned slightly, gesturing toward the woman standing just behind her.
“Umbra will guide you.”
Rules would be upheld. Blood would be spilled if necessary.
There was barely room for sympathy.
Noctyra’s eyes then shifted to the opposite side of the chamber, where another figure lingered partially in shadow.
“And Veil will watch.”
Veil did not step forward. She never did. Her presence was quiet, almost unnoticeable—yet her eyes missed nothing. She observed the room, the women, even Noctyra herself, with unsettling calm.
“This Sisterhood was not built for justice as one of us said
"Justice is noisy"
Noctyra continued. “It was built for survival. The world has already chosen to be cruel to you.”
She paused.
“Now, you will be crueler.”
Silence followed. Not fear-filled silence—but acceptance.
The sigil beneath Noctyra’s feet pulsed faintly, reacting to the blood that fed it. The oath had taken hold.
That night, the Sisterhood was born.
Not as a sanctuary.
But as an empire.
Years Later
The city glowed beneath the night sky.
From the upper floors of a glass-clad tower, the world looked smaller—controlled. Streets pulsed with traffic like veins beneath skin. Lights shimmered with wealth and ambition. Somewhere below, deals were being made and broken without consequence.
Noctyra stood near the window, one hand resting casually in the pocket of her tailored black suit. Her posture was relaxed, but nothing about her was careless. Even stillness, in her case, was intentional.
To the public eye, she was a mystery.
A silent investor.
A powerbroker whose name rarely appeared, yet whose influence shaped markets.
A woman impossible to read.
She has made it,the most successful woman with a cold face,no smiles.
She was there, but no one knew her.
She made the money by day and performed her wonders in the shadows, both day and night.
Forbes 15 most influential women.
Men respected her,her company produced only the best products.
To the Sisterhood, she was something else entirely.
She was law,a sister.
We'll look through the shippings again,a secure path will be created.
I've settled with the sea officers”.A calm collective voice stated.
He was Noctyra's personal assistant.“
The only one in the company who knew, the only male who was close with the sisters.
You have a meeting with the Gm of the China branch today,he called stating he arrived…
Stop, Noctyra cut him.
The whole room grew more tensed than it already was.
Spare me the boring details, I'm not interested in attending a very unproductive meeting.
With an ugly, bald headed thirty year old.“
Transfer him back to the Australian branch.
He ruined the Chinese import totally ..
From there find a way to fire him.
You may leave.
Drea bowed stepping out while the others followed.
Oh and,
Tacy.she called
You're suspended”
But boss, I...
Learn how to wear a tie and come back to office three months from today.
A secure line vibrated softly on the desk behind her.
Noctyra Paused.
“Report,” she said without turning.
“Target neutralized,” came the reply. Calm. Controlled. African accent. “No witnesses.”
No witnesses???
I cleared them off,Tyra, relax your stiff nerves”Veil spoke up from the other end
“Confirm cleanup.”Noctyra continued
“Already in progress, Matron.” Umber answered
The girls are asking for an early arrival from you today..
Noctyra Paused,what for.
To celebrate of course..
Come early. Veil concurred.
The line went dead.
Noctyra exhaled slowly and returned her attention to the city. This was the world she understood—leverage, control, cause and effect. Everything had a price. Everything could be managed.
A knock sounded at the door.
“Enter.”
Her assistant stepped inside, careful and composed.
Even in the corporate world, where no one knew her real self .
She was feared
“The board has accepted your terms. The deal moves forward tomorrow.”
“Good,” Noctyra replied. “Prepare the files.”
Dismiss everyone home early, you're coming with me we've got date with the gang.
We have a meeting that might require your presence tho.
And who is that?“
Grandma…
Cancel”
Okay, Matron.He smiled.
When the door closed again, silence reclaimed the room.
For a moment, she allowed herself to stand still.
Then, unbidden, a memory surfaced.
A laugh.
Warm. Light. Completely out of place in her carefully ordered world.
Her jaw tightened.
She dismissed the thought immediately. Sentiment was weakness. Distraction was danger. She had carved such flaws out of herself long ago.
Noctyra turned away from the window, unaware that far beyond the glow of the city, in a place untouched by her reach, eyes were already watching.
Studying patterns.
Tracing bloodlines.
Waiting.
The Sisterhood had ruled unchallenged for years.
Until they showed up.
And for the first time since blood was spilled in that underground chamber, the empire Noctyra built was no longer invisible.
