Haunting Eyes!
Author POV:
“Elara… Elara… It's useless. There's no end to this…” she could hear that faint, deep, remarkably familiar voice.
She could not understand why she had been running back and forth as if she was stuck in some type of maze which led her to only one place. A picture covered with a white cloth, and after countless tries, she could reach it from close. Her heart was beating so loudly that she could actually feel it in her ears, but avoiding all those feelings, she decided to calm her curiosity and remove the cloth once and for all.
Her hand was so close, and finally she felt the cloth in her hands, and a satisfied smile formed on her lips, but not for too long as she felt a strong jolt pulling her away. And she fell far away only to see a dark shadow of a man taking predatory steps towards her. She could see the person in that dark, but she had a feeling of knowing him, and that was not something she liked feeling at all. She closed her eyes shut, ready for the worst, when suddenly light flashed through her eyelids and the surroundings changed completely.
She could see herself clearly as if she were looking in a mirror, but she was actually looking at one and seeing her on a bed covered with a blanket, she sat up with a jolt. Totally surprised, as she was not aware of where she was, but she surely knew she was not supposed to be here.
Air gushing through those light curtains and evening sunlight passing through there grabbed her attention, and she saw a glimpse of unfamiliar surroundings when she felt her stomach dropping. Fear gripping her whole body as if something heinous was going to devour her. Looking around, her eyes met with those deep black orbs who kept staring at her, emotionless, after their eyes met without blinking for once. She wanted to look away, find a way to escape, but at this moment she couldn’t even breathe properly.
“What the… hell is going on?” she was not even sure her words reached his ears as they came out like a mere whisper. She was not able to find any strength in her. She was never this weak, or that was what she always thought.
“Surprise.” Satire stinging through his single word, which felt like a bullet sending chills down her spine. “Surprise” was surely not the thing she was feeling right now. It was not just fear or guilt, but defeat she felt at that moment. How could she keep ending up in the same situation? She realized her nightmare was somehow real at this point, as there was indeed no point in running away only to end up in his clutches all over again.
“Don’t you dare do something stupid…” words barely coming out of her made their way out, but his steps didn’t stop. His tall, broad frame was towering over her while she wanted to get up, run away as far as possible, but she could not feel her body within her control. Maybe it was his heavy presence dragging her down or some other substance in her body; she could not tell anymore.
He grabbed her by her leg, dragging her to one corner of the bed with just one pull, when she gasped, froze in her place. She feared him not because he would harm her, but it was something else, silent in his dead eyes, which warned her every time. She felt as if he would devour her at any moment.
“I really want to punish you… you keep betraying me… sweetheart,” he spoke, getting closer with each word coming out. She could feel his breath on her face, and he was no longer looking into her eyes.
She placed both her hands on her mouth, covering her lips to be precise, glaring back at him, when he felt a fire in him which he was never able to understand even after so many years. The fire which ignites him to devour her, even if it meant burning her totally, but he kept putting it out onto himself and burning continuously. Things were different this time, and he was going to change the course of things.
She felt a shiver which turned into something tingling when it moved to her stomach, making her whole body freeze as he pressed his lips over her hand, kissing it so passionately that she felt the burn on her lips, which were protected by her hands, or that was what she thought a while ago.
A part of her wanted to scream. A part of her wanted to cry. But she knew very well she would end up in a worse state if she made a move right now. She knew very well what type of fire she had just put the fuel for. She thought she could escape this disaster if she didn’t move for a long time, but she was wrong, as the next moment she saw him unbuttoning his shirt as he took off his coat long ago, and her mind was unable to process anything at that moment.
It was time for only one thing, and she had to make her choice quickly. If she were going to surrender and beg for mercy, which was the safest thing she could do for herself, or go against all odds and challenge him. As a smaller, darker part of her, which had survived past ego games, that had tried to outwit him once before, still wanted to challenge him, to test him, to escape again.
Her brain became foggy as she was no longer sitting but instead fully lying down, and he was on top of her. She felt like a prey which was soon going to be devoured by the beast right in front of her. His eyes never leaving hers. She could only see darkness in his dark orbs. A perfect masquerade he had for hiding his emotions, but she was seeing one for so many years. His desire to finish her off. Leave no trace of her existence and rewrite her according to his desires.
