"Who's skinny guy?" Molly was even more confused; she didn't know anyone named skinny guy.
"Shawn, isn't he your boyfriend? What, you're denying it so quickly? Well, a girl like you must have more than one boyfriend, right?"
Molly was furious. "Luke, what do you mean? I've only been here a few days, and you already have a boyfriend? Watch your mouth! What do you mean 'more than one boyfriend'? Don't push your luck! I thought you were young, but I never expected you to be so presumptuous. Believe me, I can get you expelled from school tomorrow!"
I was getting exasperated. Who was really pushing their luck? I handed her the note, ready to see how she could deny it. Molly read the note, her face turning red with anger. "I've never had any contact with him. That noon, I found out he and Wang Wei were causing you trouble. I thought he was a bad person, so I ignored him. No, I have to find him and get to the bottom of this." Molly didn't seem to be faking it. After all, Shawn was so handsome, the vice class monitor, and came from a good family. If he really was her boyfriend, there was no need for her to hide it.
But who tipped us off? The skinny guy and the creepy guy couldn't see what we were doing. Molly obviously figured it out too. "You p*****t, did someone see you doing that in class?"
I felt a little embarrassed, and a little smug. After all, I'd touched Molly, and she didn't seem too angry. Thinking about how I'd insulted her without even asking what happened, I apologized, but Molly clearly wasn't buying it.
After class, I saw the skinny guy and the creepy guy glance at me and leave first, their mouths saying—"We'll see." If only Sophie had said that to me, but by the time I looked up, Sophie was already gone with her deskmate. I'd already bothered her once, and I didn't want to bother her a second time. After all, we were just classmates, not really siblings. Even if she didn't say anything, I'd feel bad if I did it too many times, and it would seem like I wasn't a responsible guy.
"How about I go with you?" Molly said, since it concerned her.
"Forget it, it's no use you going. Even if he lets me off today, he'll still cause me trouble later."
Molly was just saying it casually; she had no intention of going. Perhaps she secretly hoped I'd get beaten up.
I tightened my collar; the night wind was a bit chilly.
The classroom was almost empty. I composed myself, took a deep breath, and felt a mix of nervousness and anticipation, as if making a decision.
I'd thought only those two guys would be on the playground, but when I arrived, I saw some couples indulging in their last moments of the day. Seeing them embracing sweetly made me feel even worse. Out of sight, out of mind, I quickly ignored them, pretending to be cool, but actually feeling hurt as I walked through the crowd of lovelorn couples…
Love, ah, it's always a recurring theme, but mine hasn't arrived yet.
Luckily, my eyesight is good, and I finally found those two. They were just so tall and thin, standing out like cranes among chickens; it was hard not to notice them.
"Brother Qing, you're here?" I immediately put on a smiling face. I was used to flattering Tara, so calling him Brother Qing wasn't embarrassing at all. Besides, this is called "discretion is the better part of valor," meaning to avoid getting beaten up if possible, unless you have masochistic tendencies.
The skinny guy nodded in agreement. "Tell me, what happened?"
Are all guys with a little ability this good at showing off? Tyler is like that, and so is the skinny guy. Just tell me everything already, do I owe you something?! "I don't understand what Qing-ge is saying?"
"You're asking for it, aren't you? You flirted with my boss's girlfriend in class, even put your hand on Molly's butt, cheating on him in front of him! You have some nerve!" The perverted guy was trying to show off again.
I almost burst out laughing. This perverted guy is a pig-brain. Sure enough, the skinny guy's face changed slightly. "Wang Wei, shut up!"
Wang Wei said, sounding quite aggrieved, "Boss, he just wants to cheat on you! Chase told us that himself!"
"I told you to shut up." The skinny guy slapped the lewd guy across the face. The lewd guy was still a little defiant, but he didn't say anything. I understood now. So he was the one who complained. He usually seemed more obedient than me, but I didn't expect him to be one of the skinny guy's dogs. This is bad. Chase sits right behind Molly and me. Does he want to continue harassing her?
"Tell me," the skinny guy said after reprimanding his underling, "I heard you weren't behaving properly with Molly in class. Everyone in the class knows she's my girl. So, how are we going to resolve this today?" After reprimanding his underling, the skinny guy started to deal with me. I feigned fear, though there was no need to; I was genuinely terrified. "Brother Qing, firstly, I didn't flirt with Molly. That s**t—no, that beauty—who would dare flirt with her? Secondly, Molly told me she's not your girlfriend, right? She told me herself that she doesn't want to date in high school. I did hear Molly like Brother Wang Wei; she said he's much stronger than you and makes her feel safer." My words were a bit of a slap in the face to Shawn. She wasn't his girlfriend, yet he was acting like a lovesick fool. Even if I did flirt with her, so what? Molly hasn't even confronted me yet. Why are you making such a fuss? As for the rest, since there's no possibility of reconciliation, let's let them sow discord first. Molly, please forgive me this time!
