Chapter Three

2127 Words
Tina's POV Riiingg!!!! Here we go again. Groaning, I stopped the annoying sound of my alarm. Ughh. I hated waking up early in the morning. I lazily got up, made my bed and did my daily routine every morning_ brushed my teeth, washed my face and took a warm bath. After I took a bath, I walked out of the bathroom with a fluffy robe wrapped around my body and headed towards my closet. I picked a black tight skinny jeans and plain white V-neck shirt. It was a bit chilly here in New York so I also took a black jacket. I wore the outfit and finally paired it with my white converse. After I got completely dressed, I walked out of my closet and proceeded into the kitchen to make some breakfast. I settled on pancakes so I picked all the ingredients needed. I always loved pancakes. After I readied all the ingredients I began to make Tin's Special Pancakes. Haha. What a ridiculous name. In a large bowl, I sifted together the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. I made a well in the center and poured in the milk, egg and melted butter and mixed until smooth. After that, I heated a lightly oiled frying pan over medium high heat. I scooped the batter onto the frying pan, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. I did the procedure over and over until no more batter was left. I made five pancakes in all. Putting them all in a plate, I squirted maple syrup above them. I was not going to eat them all though. I could only finish two or three even if I was so hungry. And right now, I was starving. I prepared my milk and began eating my breakfast. After I had my breakfast, I decided to go out and shop because my fridge was basically empty. *** At the mall, I was so busy picking whatever items I desired while pushing my cart with groceries when I suddenly bumped it into another cart. Some of my groceries fell on the ground so I crouched down to pick them up. "I'm so sorry." I heard a woman's voice. She sounded guilty. It was not really her fault though. "I really didn't mean it." She apologized again. After I picked all the items that fell, I got up and put them back into my cart. I faced the woman. Woahh. She was beautiful. No, I was not a lesbian if that was what you were thinking. I meant she was just so beautiful. Standing in front of me was a tall brunette with emerald eyes and perfect nose. She looked like a model. I didn't realize I was staring at her for too long until she spoke again. "I'm really sorry. I should've watched where I was going." She apologized... again. Ughh.. Can't she just stop that? I did not want to see people worried and guilty because of me. "No, it's not really your fault. I should've watched where I was going too." I said. "Are you okay?" She asked instead. "Yeah. I'm okay. No harm done." I told her. "Khloe." She said extending her hand. "Christina. But you can call me Tin." I gave her a firm handshake. "TIN. I like your name. It's cute." She said, emphasizing my nickname and smiled. I also smiled at her. She seemed friendly. "So, friends?" She asked, walking beside me and put an arm around my shoulder. I was shocked and dumfounded. It was just my second day here and there was already someone who wanted to be friends with me. I turned to her and flashed her my cheeky smile. We both smiled and as we continued our grocery shopping together, we got to know each other. I learned that she was a twenty- three year old fashion designer and that she was an Evans. I just learned that The Evans were so well known in New York yesterday after picking up a magazine in the lobby of the apartment building I was staying. They were powerful and probably one of the wealthiest family in New York. They owned a very large company, The Evans Company, Inc. I also learned that Khloe had only one sibling specifically an older brother and the CEO of their company. She also told me that her brother whose name was Axel by the way, took over their Dad's position as the CEO when he was nineteen. He's probably smart though. I mean he's so young when he became the CEO of their company. How old is he now? Is he handsome and ho-? Holy cow. What am I thinking? No. Why did I even think about it? Seriously? 'Are you interested in him?' My conscience asked. What the- Wait. Am I? No, of course not. Ughh... Just shut up. I didn't realize I zoned out until I heard someone shouted. "Hey. Tin." Oh. It was Khloe, who shouted while waving her hand in front of my face. "What the hell? I've been calling you for like a million times. What's on your mind that you spaced out for too long, huh?" Khloe asked suspiciously. "N-nothing." I stuttered as I covered my tomato face with my hair. Why am I so flushed? Oh God. Not now. "Wait. Are you blushing?" Khloe stared me suspiciously. "No. Of course, I'm not." I lied. My face was really on fire right now. Ugh. Why did I even think about it or might I say...? 'him'? "Are you sure?" Here we go again. "Y-yeah." Ugh. Why did I stutter? "It doesn't look like that." I peaked at Khloe. She was smirking. "It's nothing, really." Thank God I managed to speak without stuttering. "Let me guess." I silently groaned. Can't she just drop that? "Are you curious about my one and only brother Axel?" What- is she a mind reader? "Of course not." Lie... again. "Oh really?" She asked, still smirking. "Yeah. Really, clearly and surely." I hope she'll stop this time. Please. Please. Please. "Okay." Thank God. Relief washed over me. "How about you?" Khloe asked after as we walked towards the counter to pay for our groceries. "How about me?" "Yeah. How about you? Tell me about yourself, your family, everything." Oh right. "Well..." So I told her about me, like filling up your Bio data and that I just arrived here in New York. I also told her about my simple yet happy and loving family, my favorites, likes and dislikes. We gave our debit card to the cashier picked our bags of groceries. Once we were out of the mall, I turned to Khloe. "So Khlow, I gotta go." "No. Come with me. Let's have lunch. I'm starving. My treat." I didn't have the chance to protest because she dragged me to her car. This woman was strong despite her model-like figure. Wow. It's a black Convertible. Khloe grabbed my bags with groceries and put them at the back of her car. She opened the passenger seat door and pushed me inside. She got into the driver's seat, turned on the engine and drove to somewhere we could eat our lunch. "Trust me. You'll like it." She said as we stopped into the red light. "Just make sure it's not a seafood restaurant." I told her. "Why?" She questioned. Oh. I forgot to tell her that I was allergic to any seafood that turned red when cooked. "I'm allergic to seafood like shrimps, crabs, squids, etc. Any seafood that turns red when cooked." "Oh. No, it's not a seafood restaurant." Once it was time to go, Khloe continued driving. *** After minutes of driving, we finally stopped in front of a fancy restaurant. Once she parked the car, we got out and headed towards the entrance. It was really fancy. White-painted walls, chandeliers above our heads, and rich men and women in their fancy, elegant suits and dresses enjoyed their lunch. I felt like I was an outsider. They seemed like businessmen, bachelors, models and celebrities. But look at me, a commoner dressed in some jeans and shirt who came with a fashion designer from a rich and well-known family. I was just a simple woman who dreamed to go to New York to work as an accountant but I still got nothing. I didn't realize I spaced again out until Khloe nudged me. I shook my head to clear my thoughts. "Hey. Are you alright? You zoned out again. What's wrong?" She asked worriedly. "Uh-hm. A-actually there's nothing wrong. I'm okay and perfectly fine." Perfectly fine huh. "I'm starving." I stated, trying to change the subject. "Okay, me too." She said, still looking at me worriedly. With that, we looked for a table and found one at the corner. Our waiter gave us the menu so we could order. Just by reading the dishes on the menu, I got hungrier that my stomach grumbles. I looked at Khloe just to see her already looking at me, and trying to hide her laugh. We stared into each other then we suddenly burst out laughing. We did not realize we were laughing so hard and might I add loudly until the whole room became quiet. We stopped laughing to know why just to see the people looking at us confusedly and weirdly. Oh, right. We got it now. What an embarrassment. I looked at Khloe and she turned to me. We cleared our throats and took deep breaths. We went back to the menu on our hands and hide our faces. Oh God. I peaked at the people at thank God they got back to their own business. "So, what would you like to eat?" Khloe asked as she put down her menu. "I would like to have this creamy lasagna and mango Graham cake for dessert." Well, I just told her that because I didn't know the other dishes on the menu. They had weird names. "Just that?" "Yeah." "Are you sure?" "Yeah." "You're not that hungry?" "Yeah." She was so funny. I was starting to like her already. "Okay." Thank God. She called our waiter back and told him our orders. After a while, our waiter returned and served our orders. We thanked him and began eating our lunch. As we ate, Khloe suddenly spoke. "I like you." What? "You're down to earth and you're like the big sister I never have. And you're not like my b***h friends back in college who just want to be friends with me because they just want my money. I'm so glad I ran into you. I know we just knew each other, but thank you." Are we on a drama class or something? I looked at Khloe as she spoke. I turned serious though. "I like you too, Khlow. You're like my younger sister back in the Philippines. She's funny , bubbly and a good companion. I'm also thankful I ran into you. And thank you for asking me to be your friend." I said sincerely. She smiled. "Your welcome, Tin." "Ugh. Let's stop this drama." I said. She laughed loudly, making the other diners look at us again. Ooops... *** We finished our lunch and Khloe left a note on our table. Side by side, we walked out of the restaurant and headed to the parking lot. We got into her car and Khloe asked where I was living, so I gave her my address. I looked at her as she read the address I typed on my phone then she suddenly smirked. I frowned and asked, "Why are you smirking?" "Nothing." She answered, still smirking. What's up with her? I just dropped the subject as she began driving towards the location of my apartment. And might I add with a smile on her beautiful face. She was even whistling. Note the sarcasm. Seriously? What's wrong with her? *** After twenty minutes or so, we finally arrived and both got out of her car. Khloe helped me with my bags of groceries and walked me to the lobby. Once we were inside, Khloe spoke. "It's really nice to meet you, Tin." She said as she handed me my other bags of groceries. I couldn't but hug her. "The pleasure is all mine. Thank you for this day and for being my very first friend here too." After a moment, we broke apart. "Sooo... I gotta go." She said. I nodded. "Take care, Khlow and thank you again." She smiled and we both exchanged our phone numbers before we bid our goodbyes. With that, I continued my journey to my apartment on the top floor with a smile plastered on my face. I finally have a friend.
