CHAPTER 3
Zephiel 's POV
Okay. Cooking…I have to make 'food'. Edible food.
I don't know how to cook. Heavens have mercy! I can't imagine that after I had already messed up the kitchen, I so conveniently remember that I don't know the first thing about cooking.
Sighing, I looked around dejectedly. Running my hands through my already messy hair. What do I do now? Should I ask for help? No, Zephiel ! If you do that, it will more embarrassing for her to find out you took all the credit for someone be else's cooking than for her to know that you don't even know how to cook.
Goodness! This was harder than I thought! But the cooks….they all make it look so easy, like all they do is just put a pot on fire, throw in…things, eggs, vegetables and the lot. Cover the pot and in a few minutes, voilà! You open it and there's a delicious meal staring at you.
Well, I guess that's not how it REALLY works.
"Come on, Zephiel. You can do this". I tried motivating myself. Yes, I could. It's just breakfast, right? What could be so hard about making a simple breakfast?
I sighed as I donned a clean apron. Again.
I ran my hands through my hair and wondered what to make, something simple yet delicious. I tried not to look at the mess I had already created, trying to make a simple yet delicious meal. I should feel sorry for whoever is cleaning this up.
Okay, I have to focus.
I needed something simple. I started to mentally skim through the different types of dishes I knew in my head. Something simple. Something like…. Omelet. Yes! I'll make an Omelette. I can even manage that, right?
I wasn't so sure how it was done, but I had a vague idea. Grabbing a bowl, I broke three eggs and started to beat them with a whisk, turning them white and frothy. Things were looking great. I proceeded to put a pan on fire and melted butter in it…okay, not bad.
I started cutting up vegetables of the sort, meat and even cheese for the filling and added them to the egg that I poured into the pan.
Taking a quick sniff…I found out, it didn't smell bad at all. Okay, that is a good sign! In a few more minutes of folding the fillings into the egg and folding it over, I was done. And praise the heavens! It looked and smelt amazing. Way to go, Zephiel !
I arranged everything on a plate and put it on a tray with a set of cutlery; just a knife and fork. I was just putting the finishing touches on my masterpiece when I heard a gasp behind me. Turning swiftly around, I came face to face with two rather lovely women that looked almost identical. Dark long hair and deep set green eyes that reminded me of someone… And why the hell were they looking at me like that?
"I…umm…" the first one stammered, turning to look at the second one, who looked rather shocked.
"Who are you?" I asked with a slight frown and they cleared their throats.
"Milord," they chorused as they courtesied.
"I am Elena," the first one said, fondling her apple-green velvet dress as she passed me a rather warm smile. "This is my twin sister Eliza, we're..."
"Celine's Friends?" I interrupted to see them nod. I thought as much. No wonder they looked familiar, these were Ralph's sisters. Ralph sisters who were making me feel uncomfortable with their stares.
"Well…she's asleep in the Alpha chambers. If you're going to go there, try not to wake her up…she..ah…she had a rough night." I said, turning back to the food I had placed on the tray, not caring if they took my last words as something else. I should be glad if they did.
Right now, I am trying so hard to hide my embarrassment. I didn't know they'd be here so early! I had told Ralph to bring them after breakfast take. What part of after breakfast time didn't he understand? Ugh! Just keep your cool, Zephiel.
I still felt their gaze on me. I didn't want to turn, and I didn't know what else to do than stand there, fiddling with the fork and knife and feeling utterly stupid.
Elena's POV
Oh, my goodness! Is this him? Is this the Monster Alpha everyone was talking about?
How is it that everyone described him as the devil, making him look as ruthless as their descriptions but failed to say how utterly and breathtakingly good-looking he was?
Good lord! Look at that body. The way his ruffled hair looked as dark as those gray eyes that stared rather uneasily at us.
"Who are you?" He asked, his voice deep and husky and I couldn't help but look at those…lips and my eyes roamed his whole outfit. Damn! I've never seen anyone look this hot in an apron.
"Milord" I and Eliza chorused as we courtesied. I eyed Eliza and saw the deep frown set on her face. I knew that she was not happy with this man, neither was I but…that was until I knew he looked like that!
"I am Elena and this is my twin sister, Eliza. We're..."
"Celine's Friends?" He interrupted and we nodded.
He went ahead to tell us that Celine was in the Alpha chambers, and we shouldn't interrupt her sleep and that she had a rough night. Wait…first of all, why was she in the Alpha chambers and not in her room? Second; rough night whoa… and lastly, why was the new Alpha of our pack in an apron? Cooking? The monster Alpha, to be precise, the Alpha that Eliza could have sworn to be the spawn of the devil or a demon of some sort. And who exactly was he even cooking for?
"Can I help you with something else?" His tone came off a bit annoying and I realized we were just standing there and not moving from our spot, I could imagine how awkward the scene was for everyone.
"No, nothing" I answered, but curiosity got the better of me, "Umm… Alpha, if I may ask, who..is that for?" I asked, pointing to the nice looking omelet on the tray in his hands.
I saw him fidgeting as he cleared his throat. "It's um…it's for no one" he said firmly, and I and Eliza blinked curiously at each other. No one? So, the Alpha…the 'monster Alpha has suddenly taken an interest in cooking? Are…are we supposed to believe that?
"Well then," Eliza said, clearing her throat, "If you would please excuse us, Milord." She bowed and walked away. I honestly didn't want to go, I mean…goodness! Is this really the man? The same man that I heard about?
No offense Celine, but you were very lucky if this was your husband.
I knew it was probably bad for me to think this way. I know that, this man… Zephiel. That was what my brother called him. Ralph referred to him as Alpha Zephiel. I know he murdered Celine's parents, the late Luna and Alpha, and that he forced her to be his wife but….he honestly didn't look that bad, at all. Infact he looked so…so…damn!
"Yes?" He frowned at me and I immediately realized I had been staring. Slightly embarrassed to be caught drooling over my friend's husband, I bowed and walked away.
On the way to Celine's room, I kept on thinking of the frighteningly dangerous hunk in the kitchen. My friend's one lucky girl.
But just imagine…if she doesn't want him, can.. Can I have him?
Elena!
"Ugh! Stop it!" I commanded my mind. I had to stop.
Zephiel 's POV
I try to do something nice, and I end up embarrassing myself. I feel so stupid in this apron, holding a tray like a total i***t.
Why the hell, were they even…ugh!
I most definitely couldn't give Celine the food now. I couldn't bring myself to go up there with her friends around her. I don't want to embarrass myself even more. The way they stared at me, like I had been egged in the face or something…and why was that other one? What's her name? Elena is it? Why was her gaze so intense?
I had never felt this…stupid in my life. I hated this emotion, I couldn't help but blame it on…Celine. It was all because of her, it was ALL for her.
I sighed as I looked down at my omelette, the perfect….well, almost perfect breakfast I had created for Celine. The omelette I was going to give to my wife. I had been proud of myself and what I had created and now…I wasn't so sure. I continued to look at it. I couldn't bring myself to eat it, not because I was afraid it wouldn't be good, but I just…couldn't. I sighed again. Maybe, maybe I should just throw it away, I thought to myself as I put the tray down and to
OK, off the stupid apron. Grabbing an apple, I strode unhappily out of the kitchen.
