The Return Of The Lycan King

587 Words
The ancient horn echoed across the valley. Once. Twice. Then silence. A silence so heavy that even the flames seemed to stop dancing. Lucien's warriors lowered their weapons. The surviving rogues stepped back. Fear spread through both armies alike. Elara looked from one face to another. "What is it?" No one answered. It was Darius who finally spoke, his voice barely above a whisper. "Only one person carries that horn." "The first Alpha." "The King of all Lycans." Elara frowned. "I thought the Lycan King was only a legend." Lucien's gaze remained fixed on the dark forest beyond the battlefield. "So did everyone else." The trees began to sway. Not from the wind. From the sheer force of an approaching Alpha aura. It rolled across the battlefield like an invisible wave. Silver Fang warriors dropped to one knee. Some Blood Moon wolves did the same. Others struggled simply to remain standing. Elara felt the pressure settle over her shoulders. It wasn't painful. It was... ancient. Powerful. Her pendant grew warm once more. The forest suddenly fell still. A lone figure stepped from the shadows. He wore a black traveling cloak covered in dust. His silver-streaked black hair rested against broad shoulders. A sword hung at his side. Its scabbard was engraved with symbols older than any pack. His face showed the marks of countless battles. Yet his piercing silver eyes held a quiet wisdom that seemed to have witnessed centuries. He stopped in the middle of the battlefield. His gaze swept across the destruction. The fallen warriors. The burning homes. The wounded children. His expression hardened. "So..." His voice was calm, but it carried effortlessly across the valley. "The prophecy has begun." The hooded leader laughed. "You've arrived too late, old wolf." The stranger didn't even look at him. Instead... His eyes found Elara. For several long seconds, he simply stared at her. A flicker of emotion crossed his face. Relief. Then sorrow. Finally... Hope. He slowly lowered himself onto one knee. The battlefield gasped. "The Lycan King..." "...is kneeling?" Lucien stared in disbelief. Ryder's eyes widened. Even Darius looked stunned. The stranger bowed his head. "My Queen..." The words echoed through the valley. Elara instinctively stepped back. "N-no..." "You've mistaken me for someone else." The Lycan King looked up. "I never make that mistake." Before anyone could react— The hooded leader screamed. "Kill him!" The remaining rogues charged. The Lycan King sighed. "You never learn." Without drawing his sword... He simply lifted one hand. An invisible shockwave erupted from him. The ground cracked. Every rogue was thrown backward as though struck by a hurricane. The hooded leader smashed into the remains of the outer wall. He coughed blood, struggling to stand. Lucien's eyes narrowed. Such power... It was beyond anything he had ever witnessed. The Lycan King finally turned toward Lucien. "You've protected her well." Lucien straightened. "I gave my word." "And you'll have to keep it." The King's expression darkened. "Because this..." He looked toward the crimson sky. "...was only their first move." Suddenly, Elara's pendant flared with brilliant silver light. The Lycan King's expression changed instantly. His eyes locked on the glowing stone. "No..." He whispered. "It can't be today." The ground began to tremble. Not from an army. From beneath them. Deep below Silver Fang... Something ancient stirred. A deafening crack split the sacred earth beneath the Moon Tree. Stone shattered. Silver light burst upward like a pillar reaching toward the heavens. The Lycan King's face paled. "They've found..." "...the First Seal."
