Elara couldn't move.
She couldn't breathe.
The entire courtyard of Blood Moon Castle was on one knee.
Warriors.
Servants.
Children.
Even Lucien Draven—the most feared Alpha in the kingdom.
All bowed before her.
The silver light surrounding her pendant slowly faded, but the stunned silence remained.
Elara's voice came out as barely a whisper.
"Please... get up."
No one moved.
Lucien lifted his head, his molten-gold eyes meeting hers.
"We rise only when our Luna commands it."
"I-I'm not your Luna."
"You may not accept it yet."
His voice was gentle.
"But Blood Moon has."
The words struck something deep inside her.
She shook her head repeatedly.
"This has to be a mistake."
Lucien finally stood.
One by one, the others followed.
"There are no mistakes where the Moon Goddess is concerned."
Before Elara could answer, Seraphina stepped forward.
Unlike everyone else, she hadn't knelt.
Her silver eyes burned with disbelief.
"So..."
She laughed bitterly.
"After all these years..."
"It was never going to be me."
No one dared speak.
Lucien looked at her quietly.
"You always knew there was a prophecy."
"I knew there was a prophecy."
Tears shimmered in Seraphina's eyes.
"I didn't know it would destroy my heart."
Without another word, she turned and walked back toward the castle.
The grand doors closed behind her.
Elara watched her disappear.
Guilt twisted inside her chest.
"I never wanted to hurt her."
Lucien remained silent.
Finally, he said,
"Neither did I."
The battle outside the walls had ended.
The surviving rogues fled into the forest, dragging away their wounded.
But something about the attack troubled Lucien.
His Beta, Darius, approached quietly.
"We lost twelve warriors."
Lucien lowered his gaze.
"And the enemy?"
"Forty-three confirmed dead."
"They weren't here to conquer us."
"No."
"They wanted to confirm something."
Darius nodded.
"They saw the pendant."
Lucien's expression darkened.
"They'll report back."
"And when they do..."
"They'll all come."
Meanwhile...
Deep beneath the ruins of an abandoned temple...
A hooded figure knelt before a massive stone throne.
The chamber was illuminated by eerie crimson flames.
The mysterious stranger who had attacked Blood Moon lowered his head.
"My Lord..."
"The pendant has awakened."
Silence.
Then...
A low chuckle echoed through the darkness.
"So..."
"It begins."
Two crimson eyes slowly opened.
"They've found the Moon Heir."
The stranger hesitated.
"Shall we retrieve her?"
"No."
The unseen ruler rested his chin on his hand.
"Let Lucien protect her."
The stranger frowned.
"My Lord?"
"He will gather everything we need."
"And when the time is right..."
The crimson eyes glowed brighter.
"...I'll take her from him."
That evening...
Elara stood alone on the castle balcony.
The Blood Moon Pack stretched below like a sea of flickering lights.
It was beautiful.
Peaceful.
Yet she couldn't stop thinking about everything that had happened.
The rejection.
The exile.
The rogues.
The mysterious attackers.
The prophecy.
The way everyone had knelt before her.
None of it made sense.
The balcony doors creaked open.
Lucien stepped outside carrying two steaming cups.
He handed one to her.
She accepted it with a small smile.
"Thank you."
"It's mountain tea."
"My favorite."
She looked at him in surprise.
"How did you know that?"
Lucien's hand tightened around his cup.
For the first time...
He looked caught off guard.
"I..."
Before he could answer, a voice echoed from the watchtower.
"Alpha!"
A scout came running across the courtyard.
He dropped to one knee.
"We've received word from Silver Fang."
Lucien's eyes narrowed.
"What happened?"
The scout swallowed hard.
"Alpha Ryder has crossed into Blood Moon territory."
Elara's heart skipped a beat.
"He says..."
The scout looked directly at her.
"...he's come to take his mate home."
