Episode 4: The warning

865 Words
Marcus and his group returned to the pack’s territory. The meeting with the witch had left them with more questions than answers. They needed more information, and fast. Later that evening, Marcus met with Elara in a quiet corner of the pack’s compound. Elara's eyes were filled with a mix of concern and determination. “Elara, what do you think about the witch’s warning?” Marcus asked. Elara sighed. “I think we should take it seriously. Old enemies stirring, dark forces waking... this is no small matter.” Marcus nodded. “But what can we do? We don’t know where to start.” Elara looked at him thoughtfully. “I might have an idea, but it’s risky.” “What is it?” Marcus asked, leaning in. “There’s a place in the forest,” Elara began. “A hidden glade where powerful witches used to gather. It’s said to hold ancient knowledge and secrets. If we go there, we might find clues about who’s behind all this.” Marcus frowned. “That sounds dangerous. Why didn’t you mention this before?” Elara hesitated. “Because it’s not just dangerous, it’s f*******n. Even for witches like me. But I believe it’s our best chance.” Marcus took a deep breath. “Alright, we’ll go. But what do you want in return?” Elara’s eyes hardened. “I want you to promise me something, Marcus. If we find answers, you must help me destroy the dark forces, no matter what it takes.” Marcus nodded. “I promise.” Elara looked relieved. “Good. There’s something else you should know. I’ve been hiding something.” Marcus’s heart skipped a beat. “What is it?” Elara looked away, her face troubled. “I know more about the rogue’s death than I initially let on. I sensed his presence before he died. He was seeking refuge, looking for help. But someone betrayed him.” “Who?” Marcus asked, his voice tense. “I don’t know for sure,” Elara admitted. “But I have a suspicion. The rogue was afraid of someone within your pack.” Marcus felt a surge of anger and betrayal. “You should have told me this earlier!” “I know, and I’m sorry,” Elara said softly. “I needed to be sure. But now, we need to act quickly.” Marcus nodded, trying to calm his racing thoughts. “Alright, we’ll go to the hidden glade. But if there’s a traitor in the pack, we need to be careful. No one else can know about this.” Elara agreed, and they made plans to leave at first light. Marcus felt a heavy burden on his shoulders, but he knew they had no choice. The safety of the pack depended on uncovering the truth. As the night wore on, Marcus couldn’t sleep. He kept thinking about the rogue, the symbols, and the dark forces that were awakening. He had to stay strong, for his pack and for the future. The next morning, Marcus, Elara, Alex, and Sarah set out for the hidden glade. The journey was long and treacherous, the forest growing denser and darker with each step. The group moved in silence, each of them lost in their own thoughts. Finally, they reached the edge of the glade. It was a small, secluded area surrounded by ancient trees. The air felt different here, heavy with magic and secrets. “This is it,” Elara whispered. “Stay close and be careful.” As they stepped into the glade, the air seemed to hum with energy. Elara led them to the center, where a large stone altar stood, covered in moss and runes. She began to chant softly, her hands moving over the runes. Suddenly, the runes began to glow, and the ground trembled. Marcus felt a surge of power, a connection to something ancient and powerful. He watched in awe as a beam of light shot from the altar into the sky. “Elara, what’s happening?” Alex asked, his voice shaking. “We’re unlocking the glade’s secrets,” Elara replied. “Be ready for anything.” The light faded, revealing a hidden chamber beneath the altar. Elara led the way, and they descended into the chamber, their hearts pounding with anticipation. Inside, they found old scrolls and artifacts, covered in dust but pulsing with magic. Elara carefully picked up one of the scrolls and began to read. “This scroll tells of a great evil, sealed away long ago,” she said. “It warns that if the seal is broken, darkness will spread across the land.” Marcus felt a chill. “Is this what’s happening now?” Elara nodded. “I believe so. We need to find out who broke the seal and why.” As they examined the chamber further, Marcus’s mind raced. They were closer to the truth, but the danger was greater than ever. Marcus and Elara realizing the full extent of the threat they faced, they had to act fast to save the pack and stop the rising darkness. The journey was far from over, and the shadows were closing in.
