I never gave much thought into how my life was going to be, where I was going to go, or that my entire life was going to change drastically, where one decision may cost me the one thing that I had been looking for so long. I climbed up the stairs. only to be face to face with the one person I did not want to see.

Ch.1 The Beginning
Celeste POV.      "Why did you do that? You're not going to make it in time." I heard running behind me, which made me pick up the pace a little faster. "Find her!!! She could not have gotten very far." What had I done I was about to have the one person who loved me sent to his death and why because I was afraid of possibly losing everything I struggled to gain or was it because I was worried if anyone found out that I loved him too that I would be right up there with him. I continued to run, not thinking and not watching where I was going when suddenly the ground dipped, and I started to tumble. Twigs and rocks scraped my body as I rolled down the large embankment until finally, I got to the bottom. I tried to pick myself, but when I did, there was a sharp pain in my leg, and I yelped. I collapsed to the ground and started to cry. "You know crying is not going to save him." Said the voice in my head. "Wake up." I shook my head, why would I... "Wake up, you lazy girl."     I slowly began to open my eyes and realized I was lying on the floor of the basement of my aunt and uncle's house. It had only been a dream, and yet it felt so real. My aunt was leaning over me. "You know you don't live here for free. Get up and get to work." She kicks my leg to get me moving, well that explained the pain in my leg. I got up and began to make my way to where I keep my clothes. I only had two dresses; both were not in the best quality. I looked at the broken mirror that had once belonged to my cousin, who had broken it when she had thrown one of her many fits after not getting something she wanted. I sighed as I looked at a girl of about 18 with dirty blond hair and a face, if not for the bruises, she would have had a pretty face: big blue eyes, long lashes, full pink lips. I shook my head, and the girl in the mirror did the same. I sighed, and I brushed my hair and made it decent with a plain string that given to me. Ever since I moved in with my Aunt and Uncle, I never gave much thought into how my life was going to be, where I was going to go, or that my entire life was going to change drastically, where one decision may cost me the one thing that I had been looking for so long. I climbed up the stairs. Only to be face to face with the one person I did not want to see. "Celeste, are you not suppose to be going off to work mother and father are going to be mad if you are late." My cousin plastered a fake smile on her face as she looked over me. "Good morning, Seraphina I was just leaving." Seraphina began to frown; she could not understand how I could be so kind to her when they were mistreating me, and this upset her. I step around her and head to the door. I was going to skip breakfast like I always did because even though my aunt and uncle are rich, I am not allowed to dine with them, and all that I get is stale bread and mush and if I am lucky water. My life was not always like this. I was born in a small village in the woods near the kingdom of Sopria to loving parents, but after my parents died, my aunt and uncle, who lived in Sopria reluctantly took me in since they were the only family I had left. They made me sleep in the basement and made me get a job, and whatever I earned for the day, which was not much they took, leaving me with nothing. I walked down the streets of Sopria until I got to the marketplace, where I worked selling flowers. I was about to arrive at the stall when I heard a familiar voice. "Morning, Celeste!!!" I turn around to see my best friend Millie walking up to me her apron covered in flour. I smile at her. "Helping your father again?" Millie smile and nods. Millie's father was the best baker in Sopria, and everyone came to by his baked goods. Millie pushed a strand of auburn hair behind her ear and looked at me with her brown eyes. "Celeste, you did not eat again, did you. Here I brought you one of my father's honey buns." I shake my head, no. "No, thank you, Millie, I will be fine." Millie looked at me a little worried. "Celeste, you are not fine. Your aunt and uncle are starving you, and you are nothing but skin and bone." I shook my head again. "Millie, I am fine." I give her one last smile before I begin to walk away to start my work. Damian's POV "Where is he? Look for him everywhere. Prince Damian, where are you we are not playing games you are not ten years old you can't wander off like this." I smiled as I hid in a nearby alleyway. I managed to slip my guards, and my attendant and I start to walk off, putting on a hat and taking off my embroidered jacket so that I was only in pants and a white laced up shirt. I began to make my way to the market where I use to go as a child, and we would always stop at the baker and get the honey buns. I still ate at least four or five of them. I get to the market and get in line at the baker's. It takes a good few minutes, and as I am waiting, I notice a beautiful girl well I bet she would be beautiful did not have the bruises and she did not look like she was skin and bones. I watched her for a while as she sold flowers, a lot of people just walked by her, but she was trying hard to sell them. Once in awhile, someone would buy a few but only gave her a few coins. Soon it was my turn, and I ordered five honey buns, and when I got my bag, I took them thanking the girl with auburn hair before leaving the store. As I walk, I look into my sack, not noticing where I was going when I felt something bump into me. Then I heard a yelp and quickly looked down in time to see the flower seller falling backward. I drop my bag and catch her my eyes looking into hers, and I felt something strange. She had this aura that I could not understand. She looked human enough. I look at her. She had the brightest blue eyes, and my observation about her was correct; she was very light. "I am so sorry. Are you okay?" She nodded as I helped her stand up. She smiled weakly, and pink color crossed her cheeks. She was cute, but she was in rags. She bent down and picked up the bag. "Honey Buns from Millie's father's bakery." I looked surprised at how she knew they were from that shop. She smiled again at my reaction. "Millie is my friend; her father owns the bakery. The buns have a special design of a sparrow on it. It's also the name of their bakery." I looked over at the bakery, and she was right. It said Little Sparrow Bakery right on the sign. I blushed in embarrassment, but I hid it. "May I inquire your name, please?" She was taken aback when I asked her this question. "I am a nobody; my name is not important." How can anyone think that they are not necessary unless someone told her that? It seemed like she had ended the conversation on that note, but I was not going to give up on finding out who she was. Suddenly I hear a voice. "Find the prince, he might be in the market." I apologized once more and began to walk away, not knowing that my life was going to rest in her hands one day. As I walked away, the girl took my hand and gave me some flowers I offered her a gold coin, and she shook her head. "They are free. Thank you for being so kind to me." She then walks off. I was so distracted that I did not notice a hand on my shoulder. "There you are, your highness, we have been looking all over for you." I turn around and see my attendant looking worried as if he was going to be in so much trouble for losing him yet again. "Stephan, I am fine. I went and got honey buns, and if you don't tell my father about this, I will share one with you." Stephan looked at the bag. "You mean the honey buns from Little Sparrow Bakery." I nod my head. Stephan had to stop and think but then quickly nodded his head. "Okay, but bribery won't work on me next time." That was where he was mistaken; it was not the first time I have bribed him, and it won't be the last. We made our way to the castle of Sopria, where I was born and raised all of my 19 years of life. Celeste's POV: I was a little surprised when the man walking ran into me, nearly knocking me over. If he had not dropped his bag and caught me, I would have fallen on the ground in front of a lot of people like anyone would care. I looked into his green eyes, and something seemed familiar about his face, but I could not put my finger on it. "I am so sorry. Are you okay?" came immediately out of his mouth as he helped me to stand. I nodded my head and smiled weakly. I bend down to pick up the bag he dropped and got to see what was inside. "Honey buns from my friend Millie's father's bakery." The man looked at me like how did you know what that was. "Millie is my friend; her father owns the bakery. The buns have a special design of a sparrow on it. It's also the name of their bakery." He looked over and blushed when he noticed the sign of the bakery. He looked back over at me. "May I inquire about your name, please." I took a step back; someone wanted to know my name. I recalled what my aunt said to me about not being important and that I am a nobody. "I am a nobody; my name is not important." The look in his eyes that he gave next made me think this was not going to be the last time I see him. Suddenly it seemed like he heard something and began to walk away. I go after him and stop him. I give him some flowers, and when he tries to pay me with a gold coin, which is more than what I have made before, I shook my head no. "They are free. Thank you for being so kind to me." I then walked away back to my stall, smiling. Many hours later, and only a few copper coins made, it was time to close the stall and head home. The sun was setting over the wall of the kingdom when I got to my aunt and uncle's house. I could already hear them talking to my cousin, and it seemed like she was excited. "Mother, Father, you will not believe who I saw today in town. Prince Damian, he is so handsome, of course, his guards and attendant were with him so I could not get that close. I wish I could be ..." I slowly open the door and make my way into the house. They looked at me as if there was something wrong. "And what are you so happy about?" My cousin did not like it when I was happy; she felt like she was the only one that deserved to be satisfied. "I...um it's nothing." I start to head to the basement where I slept when I heard someone clear their throat. "Uh-hum, are you forget something." My aunt was holding out her hand. I put my hand to my pocket and realized I still had the money that I got selling flowers today. I walked over and gave them to her. She raised her other hand and smacked me square on the face. "This will serve to you as a reminder that you live here out of the goodness of our heart, and it costs to live here, so I don't ever want you to walk away like that again until you give what you owe us." Seraphina had a big smile on her face as she looked at me with a red mark. "If it happens again, you will be punished severely." I look down. "It won't happen again, Aunt Isabella." My aunt Isabella just looked at me. "Make sure it does not." I turn around and go down to the basement closing the door behind me. I could still hear Seraphina talking about the prince, but I was thinking about the man today that handsome man and, I smiled, which made my cheek hurt a little bit from the slap. Nothing could dampen my spirits, not today.
