GHASTLY ACCIDENT

Students swooned around the school premises each talking about the activities that had gone on in the previous week from the prom night to the sleepover last night. Some talked about their chosen University, it was bustling with excitement. Parents greeted fellow parents, some striking a few business proposal and so on. The hall was decorated so beautifully that it kept some parents most especially the females commenting on it.

With everyone seated the students were called out for their awards as they went on stage to get their awards and take a few photo.

"The best behave student in the senior class of Peaches High goes to......." The principal, a short big belly man said into the microphone giving a small hint of suspense.

"Arabella Brown." he completed while there was a warm hands of applause as she stood up with a fake smile plastered on her face and sauntered towards the stage for her award, she shook hands with the principal as she collected the award and stood for a few pictures with her mom and sister before heading back to her seat.

"The students with the highest performance goes to.....". he paused again leaving everyone on suspense as they awaited who he was going to call.

"Arabella Brown and Romeo Salvador." he said and there were loud applauses, some parents had a frown on their faces as it seemed only one girl was denominating the entire class.

Arabella sat down lost in deep thought until Luciana nudged her.

"Go up girl!!! Wait are you alright?" She asked Arabella who nodded and got up when her eyes met with Romeo and a sense of forbodden washed over her but facing the numerous stares she walked to the stage a force smile still on her face as she tried to mask her fear underneath the surface, shaking hands with the principal for the second time she took the award and made sure not to go near Romeo who already took his, she declined any photo with him and went back to her seat her eyes were filled with tears which she quickly wiped away. Hours later the students stood to take group photographs.

Romeo attempted to go to her but his conscience kept punishing him instead he turned and walked away leaving before the ceremony ended. Pierce looked from Arabella to Romeo and confirmed his suspicion, but what Romeo did to her he couldn't guess.

"Sweetie go with your friends take your time but don't stay out late I can't handle your dad." Aurora said to Arabella who gave out a genuine smile since that morning, she felt suffocated since last night maybe a little fun could take her mind off what happened to her.

"Thanks Mom I love you." Arabella said as she went in search of Desiree and Luciana.

"Where the hell is the motherfucker?" Alexander asked but got no reply, seeing that he snatched the phone from Pierce who frowned.

"Give me back my phone now Xander!" Pierce said but Alexander wasn't hearing any of it.

"C'mon dude staring at nude photos of ladies on your phone won't help. By the way where is Romeo? I have something to tell you both together." Alexander asked.

"Well the dude left after feeling guilty like coal was after his pants." Pierce replied and took back his phone from Alexander.

"And I know what you want to talk about, Romeo does too so it's no big deal." Pierce added after a while leaving Alexander shocked and surprised.

Romeo got home some minutes ago beside none of his parents attended his graduation so it wasn't that bad. He made to climbed the stairs when he heard his Mom's voice.

"My child Mom is back won't you say hello." Sophia Romeo's Mom said as she dropped her bag on the couch and went towards him pulling him into a motherly hug.

"I rushed here when I heard today was your graduation, I guess I didn't make......"

"Mom you made it just that I left early." Romeo said cutting her shut.

"Sorry that we couldn't attend your graduation but there is another reason why I came back." Sophia said which got Romeo staring at her.

"We are moving and your dad doesn't want a no for an answer." Sophia said leaving Romeo in anger and frustration.

"Then go tell him I said said no and I'm not leaving Australia." Romeo snapped and turn to head back to his room.

"Your dad is in the last stage of lungs cancer and he won't make it that's why the company headquarter had been moved to the States already. Can't you see I've been the only one running the business affairs? Do you think it's easy and I....I can do it alone? My husband and your father is lying down in the hospital counting the days he has left and you can't even fulfill his last wish before he dies." Sophia retorted as tears cascaded down her cheek in torrent.

Romeo stopped on his track hearing that, it's true he might not be close to his dad but he still loves him and hearing he was about to breathe his last Romeo couldn't help but feel a tug at his heart. Reluctantly he walked back to his Mom and pulled her into a hug he could feel his Mom had grown thinner and he cursed himself.

"Fine Mom I will leave with you, I will be ready when you are." Romeo muttered to her while she nodded her head in gratitude caressing his hair as she muttered a series of thanks.

Romeo sat back in the club smoking, his thought running in a ziz-zag motion trying to comprehend what deep s**t he had gotten himself into, remembering Arabella he drank more. He left home after putting his Mom to sleep since she had clunged to him the whole day and he had been patient with her and her demands. He felt like his problems were only increasing by the day and he couldn't put a rein on them making them spiral out of control.

"Mr that's enough you are drunk." the bartender voice tore through his thought as he took the last glass of Brandy left from him. When the bartender tried to take the cigarette stick from him out of pent up frustration Romeo pushed him off slightly due to push the cigar stick fell to the ground and the bartender immediately stepped on it putting it out, disrupt from his only source of solace Romeo stormed out of the bar staggering never so lightly, he fumbled for the keys to his car in his pockets getting it he got into the car and drove off. With his eyes blurry he couldn't make out the huge truck coming towards him in time and when he did he swerved off the road but his car somersaulted twice due to the force he used and since he wasn't strapped to the seat he bounced with the car and the last thing he muttered before losing consciouness was Ara..bella.............
