Chapter 19

Doug talked me into taking a run with him. I loved it. The wind blowing through my hair. The hard earth beneath my paws. None of the tree branches can scratch and hurt me. "Here we are," Doug said and stopped where a beautiful picnic was set up. We shifted back to human and got dressed. "Wow, this is beautiful Doug. I love this." I said, smiling. "Well, it's the least I can do after my mother and yours were both nightmares and acting like pups," Doug said. "It isn't your fault. I guess I can't blame them that much either. I mean your an only child and your mom probably wanted a daughter after you. Then, with mine, well, I was stolen from her so I can see her fussing about it, sense I do technically know your mom a little better then my own." I said. " That's true too. Also, I wanted to talk to you about something Thunder brought to my attention." Doug said, suddenly agitated. "Why, what has Thunder said lately?" I asked, "Well, it's about your parents. Since they have come here, there has been more activity around our parklands. Not that bad, but your father has reached out about it. The king wants them to visit and see who has been looking around. Thunder thanks' its your parents' old pack. They may be looking for their Alpha and Luna. Or it could be the people who tried to kill your parents. It's hard to tell," Doug said. I nodded. "So the king is getting involved?" I asked. "The king of what?" "I forgot you grew up human, The king and queen of werewolfs. There were lycans as the king and queen, but after they were killed, Werewolves took over the throne. Now they are coming here to see what is going on. Your dad seems not to know who is messing around the borders. That is why we think they are hunters, but it's so hard to tell without them attacking us. " Doug said. I nodded. "Anyways, do you want to go swim or eat first, then swim?" Doug asked. "Human unlaw law, swim then eat. Swimming after you eat can cause you to drown or get cramps, which is what every child has been told. I have heard so many. You get tired and fall asleep and drown, or you just drown, or you get cramps in your muscles and then drown. I don't know if any are true. I was never allowed to swim. I had to set and watch Dylan because that was part of his training. So it is really up to you," I said. "Wait, so you don't know how to swim?" Doug asked. "Well, my 'dad' was teaching me when they were killed by beast," I said.
