Years ago, they were madly in love, married and building dreams together. But everything shattered the night she walked into his office, expecting to celebrate their anniversary… only to hear him agreeing to marry another woman for a business alliance.

He never denied it.

His silence was her answer.

Chapter 1: The Return Of Athena Kallis
Athena Kallis stepped off her private plane and landed on Greek soul, she was welcomed by a strong wave of emotions. Memories. Regret. Bitterness. She had sworn she’d never return. But here she was, standing on the tarmac of Athens International Airport, dressed in a crisp white power suit, her heels clicking against the ground with precision. Five years. Five years since she had vanished without a trace. Five years since she had rebuilt herself from the ashes of betrayal. Five years since she had left Nikolas Drakos behind. Now, she was no longer the woman who had begged him to choose her. No longer the naïve wife who had cried on their anniversary night as he shattered her world with his cold, merciless decision. No, that woman was dead. And in her place stood a new Athena Kallis—CEO of Kallis Enterprises, one of Europe’s fastest-growing luxury brands. A woman with power, wealth, and a ruthless determination to never be hurt again. And this time, she wasn’t here to beg. She was here to make Nikolas Drakos suffer. Athena walked into the exquisite lobby of the Drakos Industries headquarters as she adjusted the diamond bracelet on her wrist, the grand glass building standing as an emblem of Nikolas' empire. For years, she had avoided this moment, making sure they never crossed paths. But fate had a cruel sense of humor. She hadn’t wanted to work with Drakos Industries, but this deal was too big to refuse. The luxury merger between their companies had sent the Greek business world into a frenzy—two former lovers-turned-rivals, now forced to work together for the sake of millions. Athena took a slow breath, then walked past the towering marble columns of the building’s entrance. Eyes followed her—some with admiration, others with curiosity. And then, the whispers began. “That’s Athena Kallis—Nikolas Drakos’ ex-wife.” “She disappeared after the divorce.” “I heard she’s richer than him now.” Athena ignored them. Let them talk. She headed for the elevator, her heels clicking in sync with her confidence. She was here for business. Nothing more. Or at least, that’s what she told herself. As the elevator doors slid open, Athena stepped onto Nikolas' executive floor. His personal assistant greeted her with a polite nod. “Ms. Kallis, Mr. Drakos is expecting you.” She didn’t respond, simply striding past, toward the dark mahogany doors she remembered all too well. Her heart shouldn’t be racing. Her breath shouldn’t be uneven. She was over this. Over him. Then, she stepped inside. And there he was. Nikolas Drakos stood by the tall windows, his figure as intimidating as always. Dressed in a fitted black suit, he was power and danger wrapped in one. The years had only made him more striking. His jawline was sharper and his deep emerald green eyes were darker and harder to read. He gave off the same irresistible powerful presence that had once made her heart race and set on fire. But Athena wasn’t that girl anymore. Nikolas turned, looking at her and for just a moment, she caught a glimpse of surprise and shock in his eyes. He hadn’t expected her to appear like this, look like this. He wasn’t just ready. Confident. Cold. Unshaken. His expression smoothed into indifference just as quickly as it had faltered. “Athena.” A smirk formed on her lips. “Nikolas.” The way she said his name, as if it didn't matter to her, made his jaw clench. “Sit.” His voice was low, authoritative, the same way it had been years ago. Athena sat down, crossing her legs slowly while noticing how his eyes shifted toward her movement before snapping his eyes back to her face. Good. Let him see what he lost. Nikolas leaned in, his fingers clasped under his chin "I have to say, I didn't think you would go for this deal not to talk of agreeing to it" She tilted her head slightly. “Why? Did you think I’d avoid you forever?” His lips twitched slightly, forming a fake smile. "You did a damn good job pulling it off for five years" Athena refused to flinch. “I was busy.” His gaze darkened. “So I see.” The tension between them was suffocating. A silent battle of wills neither was willing to lose. “Let’s get to the point,” Athena said, voice crisp. “This merger is mutually beneficial, and I’m not here for personal conversations.” Nikolas leaned back, smirking. “No? Then why are you here, really?” Athena’s pulse quickened, but she kept her expression neutral. She knew exactly why she was here. But Nikolas Drakos didn’t deserve the answer. Not yet. The meeting lasted forty minutes, filled with carefully chosen words and veiled tension. Nikolas listened, but he wasn’t truly focused on the deal. No. His focus was entirely on her. The way she sat with perfect posture. The way she spoke with icy precision. The woman in front of him was not the Athena he once knew. And it infuriated him. As the meeting ended, Athena stood, adjusting her jacket. “I’ll have my lawyers review the final draft.” She turned to leave. But just as she reached the door, Nikolas spoke again. “Athena.” She paused, but didn’t turn around. “Why are you back?” A heavy silence stretched between them. Athena slowly turned, meeting his intense gaze head-on. And then she smiled slyly. “Business, Nikolas. Nothing more.” Lies. And she knew he knew it. But she walked away anyway, leaving behind the scent of expensive perfume and unfinished wars. Nikolas watched her leave, putting his hands in a fist. This wasn’t over. Not even close. Nikolas watches her leave, his mind racing. He had spent five years convincing himself she was a mistake. But now that she was back? He was about to find out just how wrong he had been. And he would stop at nothing to uncover the real reason she had returned. Nikolas watched Athena walk away, his pulse a slow, controlled burn. This wasn’t just business. It never could be. She had spent five years avoiding him—five years building walls so high even he hadn’t been able to find her. And yet, here she was. Back in his city, back in his building, standing just feet away from him. And lying to his face. He let out a breathe as he ran his hand through his hair. If she thought she could come back to Greece, sit in front of him like they were just business rivals, and walk away without problems, she was so wrong. Dead wrong. His lips curled into a slow, wicked smirk. If Athena Kallis wanted to play games, he would gladly play along. But she’d forgotten one thing. Nikolas Drakos never lost nor messed up. And he wasn't about to start doing that now. "Let the fun start," he said quietly as he picked up his phone. This wasn’t over. Not even close.
