One morning, Maine woke up to the sound of her phone ringing. When she looked at it, she saw her uncle’s name. He had called several times, indicating it was important.
“Good morning, Uncle. Why did you call?” Maine answered.
“Maine, I’m opening a new business in the province of Bohol, near the sea. The view is beautiful there, and I need someone to manage it. I don’t trust anything regarding business but you,” said Don Martaugh Gran, an older but fit man known as one of the richest businessmen in the Philippines.
“Uncle, I need to discuss this with my husband first because we also have to consider our own business here in Cebu,”Maine replied.
“I see. Well, call me once you’ve discussed it.” said Don Martaugh.
‘Okay, Uncle,” Maine agreed.
As she hung up the phone and turned over, she saw her husband, David, listening to her conversation with her uncle.
“Don’t tell me we’re leaving our business to manage theirs?” David said as he got up from bed, wearing only boxers.
“There’s a great opportunity there, and the salary Uncle is offering is substantial. Maybe we could manage it because we have trustworthy people here to oversee our business. Besides, this could be our chance to see the place and decide if we want to open another branch there,” Maine persuaded her husband.
The couple had a serious discussion, weighing the advantages and disadvantages of moving. David’s biggest concern was being far from his friends and not knowing anyone there, aside from that he really just didn't like going there. However, Maine eventually convinced David, and they decided to leave the day after tomorrow.
“I’m excited to go to Bohol, hon,” said Maine.
“I’m not.” David joked.
