The question remained on my mind all the way to the school building.
Thankfully, I didn’t notice anything weird in the school. It was just the two Beta freshmen girls who looked at me oddly. Maybe I shouldn’t make too much of it, but they’d never looked at me that way before.

He was usually careful, because he hadn’t been seen yet, but what if today wasn’t that day? What if someone was awake earlier than usual, and had seen him come out of my room? The thought wrapped around my throat like an eager hand. I found that I couldn’t breathe easily without thinking about that horrible alternative. I didn’t want it to be right.
