Chapter 27

1497 Words
The mute human Jeremy I didn't even notice when she fall asleep. I was too busy with my work and with the Pack related issues. On top of everything, now I had her on my back... If the other Alphas find out that she is alive after what she witnessed they'll be after her and kill her. *- They won't. - Ulric growled. - That's the law. If they are not related to any wolf, and they find out about our existence, humans have to die. *- Yeah in these old fashioned, dirty, narrow-minded states. But We are an Alpha! She is our mate! She is related to us! - They can't know that. I won't let her die, but she is not my mate. As soon as she gets back to her original self, I'll reject her. *- I'll leave you. I told you. - I remember. *- Look at her Jeremy... I know you could see and feel what I do. - Ulric said and he was right. Even in this hospital room, full with chemicals, I could smell her refreshing scent. Now she smelled like the field after the first snow. It is rare how her scent changed. But honestly, I liked it. *- Come on!- Ulric insisted causing me a headache. I groaned and glanced at the sleeping Roxanne. She looked like an angel. For a second my breath skipped as I watched her sleeping so peacefully. I turned my head away and shook it with anger. *- I told you. Why don't you just accept her? She is beautiful, strong, fiery and kind-hearted. She is the dream of every wolf. The perfect Luna. - She is a weak human. She'll never be my Luna. If she was clever, she never got herself in a situation like this. If she was strong like... Her... She would've been able to escape. - Ulric growled and he decided not to talk to me. I walked out of the room. Rico and Clarissa just came across and I blocked Clarissa's way from entering into the room. - What the hell do you...?! - she started to scream but I put my index finger on her mouth. - She is asleep. - Clarissa shut up and I looked at Rico. - I need to discuss something with both of you. Let's walk a little further from the door. - I suggested and a few steps further we stopped. - What do you like to discuss with us Jeremy? - Rico asked. - Roxanne will be discharged in a few days. I wanted to find a solution for both of them to stay closer. Just in case something happens. - I said looking at Clarissa. Judging by her expression, this wasn't what she expected. - What do you mean? She is your mate... - Clarissa mumbled and I snarled at her. - Not for a long time. - Clarissa's eyes filled with tears. Rico hugged her to comfort her while Clarissa whispered to him. - I wish we never met. I wish you fell for Roxy instead of me. - she caught both of us out of guard. Rico gently pushed her further and lifted her head to look him in the eyes. - Why are you talking nonsenses? - Clarissa sobbed. - Roxy deserves to be loved... Jeremy clearly won't ever love her. He will only cause her pain... You are so kind and caring, this is why I said, what I said. If she was your mate, she would be in good hands. - Rico smiled a little at Clarissa and poked her nose with his. - You deserve to be loved as well. - I'm not your mate. I really like you Rico, I would almost say I love you... But the doctor told me how painful is for a mate to feel his/her other half being with another. I can imagine that feeling, and also what is it a rejection feels like. Probably, not so intensively like your kind, but it is horrible for us too. I don't want to cause such pain for someone by taking her other half. - I was impressed. A human, who would give up her happiness and a life of luxury for someone she doesn't even know. - Well, I know what I want. I want you. I fell for you and you might not be my fated mate, but you are a lot more special than her. - Clarissa grimaced and Rico whispered. - You are special, because I chose you to be mine and you chose me to be yours. - I coughed to call their attention. -Sorry to disturb this lovely scene... But we still haven't discussed where they should stay. - Rico frowned at me for ruining their romantic moment. - Clarissa will stay with me if she wants.- Clarissa looked worried. - Rico, I can't leave Roxy alone! What if they'll come for her?! She took care of me for years, I just can't... - They won't hurt her ever again. Our law is protecting Roxanne and you. - What law? - If a human or any other creature turns out to be a wolf's mate, that person cannot be hurt if they don't want a war. Because hurting other's mate is a deadly sin. - But he won't accept Roxy! She'll be alone, in pain and danger!- I got frustrated and raised my voice. - Do you think she would be safer in a den full of werewolves?! Most of my Pack members would never accept her and they'll try to get rid of her! - Rico's eyes widened and Clarissa gasped. I looked behind me only to find out that Roxanne was standing in the door of her room. Clarissa rushed to her. - How are you feeling? - she asked and Roxanne showed the same "more or less" sign, she showed to Greg before. I got a chilly feeling running through my spine, Roxanne didn't take her eyes off of me and I couldn't turn my glance either. - How much have you heard? - I asked and she tilted her head. I skipped the distance between us and snarled at her. - Don't try to pretend that you didn't hear a thing! - I screamed and hit the wall next to her head. I have done this before, when she disrespected me. Back then, she didn't even flinch, but this time, Roxanne collapsed. I could barely catch her head before it hit the floor. Just at that moment Greg arrived. - For the Goddess's love! What is going on here?! - he asked and rushed to check Roxanne's pulse. - Nurses! Code Blue! She isn't breathing! - the nurses pushed us over, Clarissa cried and started to hit my chest with her tiny fists. - You moron! i***t! Selfish monster! - Rico held her back and we watched how they brought Roxanne back from death. - I told you she is weak. - I said to Ulric. *- I hope she'll kick your ass and make you regret for ever even thinking about leaving her. - I scoffed and heard my Uncle saying. - She is stable. Get her back on her bed and keep an eye on her. - he stormed to me. - What have you done?! - I shrugged. - I got angry and she got scared. - You'll kill her at this rate! I said peace and rest! Why don't you mark her? She would heal a lot faster that way! - I won't accept her as my mate. - You are truly and i***t. - my uncle said and left me alone. Clarissa went in to be at Roxanne's side and Rico frowned at me. - Why did you do that? - I was curious. She used to be so firm and strong. Look at her. Pathetic, weak, afraid of a small noise. She'd never be a Luna. - Keep her safe until she gets better. When she is healthy again, reject her. Clarissa is right. Roxanne deserves love, and you my friend, are an empty shell. - I smirked. - Let's keep both of them in the Pack house then. Since you chose Clarissa as your mate, she automatically welcomed. I own Roxanne a little help, since I caused her trouble. As you said. When she gets well. I'll reject her... - "If she is still alive by then." - I thought. While I tried to walk away from her room my chest started to ache. I grabbed my hand to my chest and groaned. It was like someone was rotating a knife in it. Rico chuckled. - What are you laughing at?! - I asked and he walked past me saying. - The Goddess sees and hears everything. You are my friend and Alpha Jeremy, but you are a mortal going against her whishes. Who do you think will win? - f**k.
