14 ENOUGH BLAME TO GO AROUND Jake was heading to Dorset Street from the river. As usual, the docks were crowded with men seeking employment. He shook his head as he passed them. Idiots! he thought. He turned into Commercial Road. In just a few short minutes he’d left the docks behind. He turned right, cutting through the maze of dwellings into Aldgate High Street. He walked for a couple of hundred yards then suddenly ducked to his right. He’d entered a narrow alley where he loitered for a moment to check if he was being followed.
