THE SQUALOR PRINCESS
Liza was born in a workhouse in Hackney. She had never known her parents, so had never missed them. Incredibly, she’d been born with an unshakable sense of optimism. As the years passed, despite being let down, disappointed and taken advantage of time after time, she always gave the human race one more chance to make amends.
This sunny disposition meant she had a natural talent for making friends. However, her trusting nature ensured those friends never lasted long. Liza didn’t realise that the love she craved was unlikely to materialise whilst she was so easily taken advantage of.
Then one day, the workhouse staff sent her for some casual employment beyond the cold walls. Nobody knew it was her fifteenth birthday and even if they had, they wouldn’t have cared.
