01.Voices in The bathroom
I had to be insane.
Yes, I must have been hallucinating or trapped in some vivid nightmare.
Because the sound of those voices coming from the bathroom… couldn’t be real.
My heart pounded harder, a mix of fear, adrenaline, and an increasingly powerful sense of rage flooding my system. Step by step, I moved closer down the hallway, each breath heavy as I approached the bathroom door.
The shower was running. And that woman speaking…
Yes. It was Sabrina There was no doubt about it.
Moaning. Laughing. Laughing as if she were in pure ecstasy.
“I can’t believe he still hasn’t figured it out,” I heard the b***h say playfully from behind the door.
The other voice, even more hateful, responded:
“It’s not like your boyfriend is the brightest guy in the world.”
Lucian.
My fists clenched. Before I could even register it, tears were already rolling down my face.
My girlfriend—the woman I loved—was sleeping with my rival, the man who had been trying to destroy my career from the very beginning.
I wanted to laugh. Laugh at myself, at my own stupidity, at my blindness.
But what came out instead was a low growl—a guttural, primal sound that didn’t even feel like mine.
My nails dug into the palms of my hands. The damp scent of the steamy bathroom mixed with Sabrina’s sweet perfume and Lucian’s woody cologne, a suffocating combination that made my stomach turn.
"He was never anything more than a convenient i***t," Sabrina continued, her voice dripping with disdain. "But you… you're different, Lucian."
My blood boiled in my veins. Different?
She always told me I was the man of her dreams. That she would never betray me.
Every word… just a lie.
I took a deep breath. It wasn’t worth it. I wouldn’t lower myself to their level.
I closed my eyes, ready to turn around and leave. But what I heard next shattered the last of my restraint.
"Of course I’m different. I come from a good place, I have money, I have influence. Your boyfriend is nothing but a bastard, the son of some w***e who spread her legs for anyone. No wonder her family kicked her out."
Lucian laughed—that same low, mocking laugh that had always infuriated me.
"Someone born from a complete slut like that could never be important. Let’s see how long he lasts pretending to be a great doctor after I crush him completely."
A sharp tingling spread through my fingers. My entire body shook.
And before I could even think, my leg was already moving.
The door exploded inward from my kick.
Hot steam rushed out, fogging the room. Through the mist, I saw them—two silhouettes, naked, their reflections barely visible in the fogged-up mirror.
Sabrina’s eyes widened in shock.
Lucian, on the other hand, smirked—completely shameless.
"Speak of the devil," my rival said, pulling Sabrina’s wet body against him in a deliberate, taunting gesture.
But I wasn’t looking at him.
My fury, my rage, my hatred burned as I stared into her eyes.
"You f*****g b***h," I seethed. "How long?"
"Dave—"
"How long have you been sleeping with him?!"
"What’s with all the unnecessary drama?" Lucian muttered, amused.
I ignored him.
I only looked at her—the woman who had once been the only person in my life besides my mother.
"How long, Sabrina?"
She pulled away from Lucian, looking embarrassed, but also smug.
"It doesn’t matter." She shrugged. "You were going to be out of my life sooner or later. I was just gathering the courage to tell you."
She smiled.
"I guess now you finally know. Now you can leave."
I felt my heart shatter into a million pieces.
"Why?" I whispered. "Why did you do this to me? I always… always put you first. I treated you like a queen. We were supposed to get married this summer. I was about to buy our wedding rings…"
Sabrina sighed and rolled her eyes.
"Dave, you were always so naïve… so easy to manipulate**. It was fun while it lasted, but now I want more. I **deserve more."
"More?" My voice was hoarse, trembling with disbelief and pain.
"You’re weak," she said simply. "Too soft. Too submissive. It was pathetic, honestly, the way you treated me… like a servant. That’s not what I want. I need someone stronger."
"But—"
"You’re dead weight, man," Lucian interrupted with a lazy smirk. "I told you that you had no future in the hospital. That you were nothing but a walking mistake. But you just kept trying to compete with me."
He stepped away from Sabrina and walked toward me, completely unbothered by his own nudity.
"And now look at you. Humiliated. Betrayed. Pathetic."
I wanted to hit him.
I wanted to destroy him.
My body burned, and my heart pounded wildly, as if something inside me was ready to explode.
But before I could react, Lucian was faster.
His fist struck like lightning, slamming into my face with enough force to send me stumbling backward.
"You never learn, do you?" he laughed. "You always thought you were on my level, but now look at you—"
Another hit. My stomach clenched as his fist drove into my ribs, knocking the air from my lungs.
Sabrina shouted something, maybe trying to stop the fight, but Lucian ignored her. He shoved me, and I crashed against the sink.
The taste of blood filled my mouth. My body ached, but I couldn’t fall.
Not in front of him.
Not in front of her.
I lifted my fists, ready to fight back, but Lucian just laughed
"Seriously? You’re still trying? You still don’t get your place, do you?"
He grabbed a glass bottle from the cabinet.
Before I could react…
CRASH.
The bottle shattered against the side of my head.
The pain was blinding. My vision spun.
My body gave out.
Humiliated, I collapsed onto the cold, wet tiles. Blood dripped down my face, staining the vinewood bracelet my mother had gi
ven me years ago.
The last thing I saw before everything faded to black…
Was the dim glow of the wood absorbing my blood.
And then…
Nothing.
