ONE WEEK LATER
I’ve only been here one week and a day, and my mom was already talking about visiting. In her defense, today is my birthday, and we’ve always celebrated together with the family. It wasn’t a huge milestone birthday or anything. I just turned nineteen. When I spoke to my parents this weekend, my dad managed to talk her out of flying down here, but I could hear the disappointment in her voice over the phone.
That didn’t stop my Nana Clara from bullying me into visiting her this weekend so that she could make me dinner and bake me a cake. I knew that I would eventually need to visit since I was so close, but I thought I would have at least a month before I had to do that. Carlos has already planned a birthday party for me tonight.
