The guards saw that the maids were terrified as the atmosphere changed and they cuddled them to calm them down. Simon cuddled Veera while Philip cuddled Rita as they whispered soothing words into their ears.
After a couple of seconds, they seemingly calmed down but the look of fear was still in their eyes.
"It's okay. Let's go and meet the princess now so that she wouldn't be feeling lonely and get upset that we abandoned her," Simon said as the maids nodded.
"Do we have to ask her about the birds?" Rita asked.
"I don't think that will be a good idea. I think it's best we all pretend that nothing was amiss. Then it's up to her to tell us about it. But she already knows that we know about the birds coming to visit her occasionally except the two of you," Philip said.
