Agreements

I heard voices, pulling out of my tear-streaked stupor.

“Do not forget Nathanial, at a snap of the finger I could own you and your pack. I am playing the role of a friendly visitor but I am a much stronger Alpha than you. Do not test me.” I could make out Jacques' gruff voice.

“Then reign in your heir. If our agreement is to stand, you need to put Jullian in his place. My daughter is ready to run scared from your son.”

“Daughter? Run scared?” I heard a hearty laugh from Jacques, “Not words I would use to describe little Aurora.”

“Besides I already spoke to Jullian about last night. He will not be so….aggressive.” I could hear humor in his voice which disgusted me.

“It isn’t just that.” I heard my father saying quietly, like he was fearful others would hear.

“One of our female pack members was seen leaving Jullian’s room this morning.” I could hear my father’s anger. “And it had to be one of the females that is sure to let everyone know she bedded an Alpha last night.”

“Does Aurora know?” Jacques asked, sounding slightly concerned.

“Yes, she is the one that told me.”

I heard a growl, “That damn little prick doesn’t know what's good for him. I will talk with him; he will keep it in his pants going forward.”

“Wait, you are not reconsidering backing out of our agreement?” I heard Jacques ask.

“Of course not, as much as I detest your son and his disrespect, I need to know Aurora can be protected and I trust you to see to that.”

“That I will, and I assure you, I will get Jullian in line. Once they are fully mated and bonded, he will change and be the dotting mate, I am sure of it.”

“It is until then that concerns me.” I could hear my father was still angry. “She is still my daughter and I love her and need to know she is cared for.”

I sat there as their conversation changed to other things I cared nothing about. Why was my father so worried about having someone protect me? It's not like we are often attacked, most packs leave each other alone and, since we have an alliance with the Crimson Moon pack we are left alone in peace. No packs wish to seek a disagreement with anyone in an alliance with The Crimson Moon pack.

One thing I knew for certain is I was not going to convince my father to break the agreement with Crimson Moon. I only had one option left. I would have to run away. Not with Lucian as he suggested, but alone, I could not put others at risk.

I needed a plan. I wanted to leave as soon as possible. I also needed to talk with my sister. I felt horrible about earlier and felt bad that I was leaving her.
