Natalia
“No!” I yelled as Jullian grabbed Lucian around the neck.
I saw something in Jullian’s hand and screamed again, but it was too late.
Jullian let go of Lucian, who looked to be talking to himself as he fell to his knees and whispered, “What did you do?”
His father, Lucas, yelled and launched towards Jullian, but Jacques rushed forward and tossed Lucas like a rag doll across the room.
“Do not interfere.”
“What have you done!” Alpha Nathanial yelled as I ran towards Lucian and fell to my knees beside him.
Jacques gave a bored look, “Just a little wolfsbane to make him compliant.”
I saw Lucas, Lucian’s father and our Gamma, stand after being thrown. Lucas came over to Lucian.
Lucian looked at his father with pained eyes, “I cannot feel Tren?”
“They dosed you with Wolfsbane, you will not feel your wolf for a time, it will wear off.” Lucas said softly.
I realized I had tears in my eyes as I stood. I straightened my dress, pushed my hair out of my eyes and looked at Jaques.
“Lucian did nothing wrong to deserve this.”
Jullian stepped closer, “Good, then you will tell us about your contacting Aurora.”
“What makes you think I contacted Aurora?”
Jullian began pacing the room, “Well, since you have been sneaking off and Aurora seems to be a step ahead of us every time we think we are close…” He let his words trail off as he turned to face me again.
I put my hands on my hips and tilted my head slightly while watching him.
“That…” I said in my sweetest girly voice, “Is because Aurora is smart, not because of any help I could possibly have given her.”
“So, you have been in contact?” Jullian stepped closer. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see my father flinch.
“I did not say that.’
Jullian gave me that cold smirk of his and turned from me. He took two quick steps and kicked Lucian in the face.
It felt like it all happened in slow motion as I saw blood from Lucian splatter on the wall. I stood in shock at first, then heard my father yell, “That is enough!”
Lucas bent down towards Lucian. I moved to go to him as well, but my brother Nate grabbed me, pushing me to the side as if to block me from harm’s way, while Brutus moved in beside Nate, acting like a wall of hard muscle blocking me from Jacques and Jullian.
“Enough?” I heard Jacques’ growl. I could see just a bit of his face as it turned bright red.
“This is my pack.” My father growled out.
“Not really. I brought you here and let you lead this pack. I am not sure what ever gave you the idea that this pack belongs to you.”
I did not understand what Jacques meant but saw Jullian grab Lucian’s hair.
“So, Natalia, tell me, have you been in contact with Aurora or not?” Jullian pulled Lucian’s face up to face me.
“Don’t tell him a thing!” Lucian groaned out.
Jullian pulled his fist back, “Stop!” I heard myself yell.
I could see Lucian’s eyes pleading with me. He did not want me to endanger Aurora.
‘Just follow what you and Aurora planned.’ My wolf, Nara, encouraged.
“I have emailed Aurora a few times. She never gave me any information to figure out where she might be.”
I saw Jullian give a big grin. “Good girl.” He let go of Lucian’s hair and stood up.
“You will give me the email address.”
I only nodded; I would give him the email address. Later I would borrow Clair’s phone and send one last email to another email address that Aurora made just for me to warn her that the other email address had been compromised.
Hopefully she got the message before they tracked down where her emails had come from, although, knowing Aurora, she was staying a distance from where the computer she used was located.
Jullian brought me a paper and pen, I provided the email address then looked at him coldly, “Thank you for ruining my birthday, s**t head.” I turned and started to walk out of the room, then turned back.
“Lucian?” I questioned, as Nate and Brutus helped him to his feet.
We all walked out and went directly to Nate’s room.
“Why did you give him her email?” Brutus asked.
“Aurora said if we were in a situation like this to not risk any of our safety.” I leaned in closer to them, hoping they had not thought to bug our rooms.
“I have another way to contact her to warn her.”
Nate closed his eyes, “Natalia, you are playing with fire.”
“Well maybe if dad had the b***s to stand up to Jacques or h**l, if you and he both stood up to Jacques and Jullian, maybe we wouldn’t be in this mess.”
“Dad has left me very much in the dark. I don’t understand this hold Jacques has over him.” Nate said in defense, “I’ve been trying to figure out what has been going on.”
I tilted my head, “Any ideas?” I asked.
I could see Nate deep in thought, “Only that I was born down in Virginia, we moved up here around the time Aurora was born.
We were part of a different pack that no longer exists. I think Jacques gave dad the Midnight Moon pack around the time mom and dad agreed to the arrangement between Jullian and Aurora.”
I saw Brutus and Lucian exchange a look before Brutus spoke, “So your father traded Auroa for a pack?”
“Kinda, I think.”
I let myself fall into the comfy chair in Nates' room.
“Wow, that’s messed up, how sure of that are you?”
Nate shrugged, “Pretty sure, but I don’t have proof yet. There has to be more to it than that, right?”
“I can’t feel my wolf.” Lucian whispered to no one in particular.
Nate sat beside Lucian on the couch, “The wolfsbane will be out of your system within 24 hours, you will be fine.”
Nate looked up at us, “Brutus accompany Natalia to her room and hang around while she gets ready for tonight’s party. I’ll stay with Lucian. We should stay together as much as possible.”
We all nodded in agreement.
