Back to Midnight Moon

We made it to the Midnight moon pack in two hours and forty-three minutes.

I had a bag partially packed for the weekend already, so I threw a few additional items in and was ready to go.

I was determined to not return home until Aurora was found, and this time, she would return with me.

No more of this bu*****t.

‘We will rip anyone apart that stands in our way.’ Bullet assured me.

My father drove faster than usual.

He was quiet most of the ride with a few curses muttered under his breath from time to time.

When we pulled up to the Midnight Moon packhouse, my father just haphazardly left his car in the front, leaving his keys in the ignition to see if anyone would care to move it.

My father and I stalked towards the front door, standing tall and intimidating, glaring at anyone that dared look our way.

It was the current Beta and Gamma that met us at the entrance, like they were awaiting our arrival.

They were smart enough to stay quiet as they only gave my father and I a nod of their heads in greeting.

We followed them through the large front door, down the hallway.

On our way to what I knew to be the Alpha’s office I saw the little sister. Her eyes got big when she saw me. She looked away and went in the opposite direction.

Was it from guilt of knowing where her sister was?

There were guards outside the Alpha’s door and they each bowed, "Good afternoon, Alpha’s."

We ignored them as we stalked into the office.

Alpha Nathanial had the audacity to be sitting, looking leisurely at his computer.

‘Well, guess its a good thing there is no crisis here.’ I said sarcastically to Bullet.

I found myself wanting to comment to my father, but I know he blamed some of this on me, so I kept to myself.

Alpha Nathanial opened his mouth to speak, but my father cut him off with a growl.

“Call the others in here!”

I could see the flicker of anger in Alpha Nathanial’s eyes.

‘Good, let him step out of line.’ Bullet growled out in my mind, sounding deadly.

“The others are on their way, but it will do no good. We have already questioned them all.”

The little sister was first to enter. She kept her eyes averted as she scooted into the room to stand near her father.

Next was her obedient brother. I hoped he stayed that way. He was a hair taller than I am and had a large muscular build similar to mine. I still felt like he was not a threat, but given the chance, he may make me break a sweat should it ever come to a challenge.

He was flanked by the future Beta and Gamma. That F*****g Lucian.

Lucian had the audacity to glance my way with a smug look on his face.

‘He better hope we don’t get a chance to be alone with him.’ Bullet snarled in my head.

I waited for everyone to file in.

I knew Nathanial would know who I meant by get the ‘others’ in here.

There seemed to be a group of them that were close to Aurora, and I needed to learn what they knew about her disappearance.

I was surprised she appeared to have gone alone, unless there was another male wolf that stayed under Jullian and my radar.

Once they were all in the room, I walked over and closed the door with a loud thud.

I took a deep breath, wanting to keep myself and my wolf Tren calm.

I turned, keeping my face deadly serious.

“Make this easy on us all. Who knows where Aurora went?”

I looked at each of them, slowly making eye contact with each and every one of them.

The little female averted her eyes, but I decided to leave her for last.

She was young and the other daughter of the Alpha.

The three males stood tall watching but said nothing.

I could feel the wolves of all the high-ranking males in the room, they were all on edge as was my wolf.

I walked up to each of them, slowly walking until I was in front of the Gamma’s son.

I saw how he watched her. I noticed that the first night, he accompanied her to the dining room.

At training I saw him glance her way once too often.

I know Jullian noticed it too. He told her not to be alone with this male.

I stopped and stood directly in front of him. He was a few inches shorter than my large 6’5. He had the stocky build of a weight lifter but I had no doubt I could make him crumble if it came to it.

“What do you know of Aurora’s leaving?” I said slowly and clearly.

The male before me kneeled to one knee. “I know nothing. I only learned when….” He paused, making me raise an eyebrow.

“I only learned she was gone after training on Monday morning.”

‘He’s hiding something.’ Tren said while sniffing the air.

“Stand!” I said loudly and noticed the Gamma flinch, earning a cold warning glare from me to not interfere.

The young Gamma to be stood tall and tilted his head up slightly to look me in the eyes. I’ll give it to him; he is either brave or stupid.

“What are you hiding, young Gamma?” I asked in a low, threatening tone. Most would be ready to piss themselves in front of me like this.

I saw his eyes flicker over my shoulder.

‘Looking to his Alpha?’ I posed the question to my wolf Tren.

Before Tren had a chance to answer, I heard the words begin spilling from his mouth.

“I have been training Aurora privately for years. After I train with the pack, I meet her by the pond where she often studies. That morning she was not there. I thought she was running late but she never showed up.”

I narrowed my eyes.

“How did you learn of her leaving?” I asked. He held eye contact the whole time.

“I met him and informed him Aurora had left.” I heard a soft feminine voice from behind me.

‘Ah, that was the glance over my shoulder.’ I said to Tren.

I turned, “You knew of her leaving?”

She moved away from her father, giving me a defiant look.

“I did, but in honesty I doubted she would go through with it.”

I turned back to the young Gamma, “So you did not know she was leaving?” I asked him again.

That little f****r standing in front of me squared his shoulders, “You want honesty?” He asked, “If I had a clue where Aurora was, I would not tell any of you, you do not deserve her.” He glanced Jullian’s way.

“But then I most likely would not still be here. If I knew where she was, I would have gone out to find her and take her far away from here, treat her the way she deserves to be treated.”

I heard a low familiar growl over my shoulder and held my hand up. Now was not the time for Jullian to lose his s**t.

I could hear that growl turn into a sound of frustration.

I took a step back and turned to stand beside Nathanial’s desk.

“Dismissed.” I said and raised an eyebrow when no one moved, they all looked towards Nathanial, waiting for his dismissal.

I could see from my peripheral Nathanial give a nod in agreement that they could leave. That was when they all filed out of the room.

‘Interesting.’ I said to my wolf Tren.

‘The dynamics in this pack have shifted dramatically in the past few days.’

‘I don’t like it.’ Tren growled out in my head.

‘Nor do I.’ I responded, while thinking.

The young female did not leave the room.

We made eye contact, and I raised an eyebrow at her.

She just shrugged, “My father said I could stay and help.”

I was losing what little patience I had and Tren was furious.

I turned to face Nathanial directly, “Does not seem like a good idea since she can easily tell Aurora where we are looking that way she can say on the move.”

The little female moved closer to stand beside her father.

“Are you kidding me? They took my phone, laptop and iPad. I have no way to get in contact with Aurora. Besides, if I tried then you would find out and be able to track her.”

Her face transformed before my very eyes, from one of anger, full of accusations to a big frown with tear-filled eyes.

“I just want to be sure my sister is safe. I am worried.”

“Humph” I heard Jullian scoff and fully agreed with him. This little one we would need to watch carefully.
