Chapter 9 Men's Task

Flynn's POV

I huff out before running my hand through my hair as I think about everything I have been through over the years. It's been frustrating and suffocating, so this time away from the compound I think is just what I needed to have. I just have to get this probably meaningless meeting underway with the leader so we can get out there and finally get away even if it's just for a night. I feel a push to my shoulder as Norton shoves past me to get in front and of course show his dominance.

We continue to pass by many men, following Norton as they send us sympathetic looks, since once again, I am headed to the leader's area, for what reason this time is unknown to all of us. Usually I have some sort of idea as to why I will be having a talking to, but I haven't done anything as of late, so their guess is as good as mine. The terrifying part though, is that every time I head in this direction, I don't know if I will come back. My heart frantically beats within me, showing how nervous I really am about this talk.

We get to the dwelling area just to see the door is wide open for us to enter, or that is what we would assume. But when we enter we can only hear the muffled screams of a female. We hear a loud slapping as another scream follows. We look at one another before slowly entering in the room. We instantly see Octavious behind a female. He thrusting into her as he slaps and hits her over and over again, apparently by all the gashes that are open and bleeding on her back at this moment.

She screams in pain but he just shoves her face more into the bedding to keep her as quiet as he can. He smacks her again with a small whip of sorts that lashes another gash into her skin before he smiles even bigger looking as if he is loving every second of this. I wouldn't be surprised, but I squint with every move that is made causing me to cringe, wanting to leave. I turn to leave not wanting to see this any longer until I hear, "Flynn and Roy.. good.. I needed.. to speak with you.." He states between thrusts and grunts as the skin to skin slapping continues.

I shake my head not wanting to turn around but knowing I have to. I reluctantly turn around as I watch him thrust into her more, with one last slap as he pushes into her, grunting loudly showing that he has climaxed. I feel nauseous thinking I am going to throw up the little bit of food I ate today. "You guys want a go? You're some of my hardest workers and deserve some release.. I even have extra whips for a fun lashing." He declares as I instantly shake my head and look away.

Octavious scoffs loudly before stating, "of course you don't want any part of this fun.. that's because you don't know what fun is. Come on she is having a great time see?" He declares grabbing the female's hair to pull her face back, showing her teared face that looks devastated. I don't respond back at all because if I say anything I will be hurt for it too, and she might even get hurt worse than she already has. "She loves this... because this is how females are supposed to be treated." he declares with so much venom in his words causing my body to clench every inch just trying to stop myself from attacking him, since that will be my undoing.

"I thought you said you had something to talk to us about.. We're going to be late for the shift, so I thought it had to do with something more important than talking about women and how you think that they should be treated." I declare not looking at him nor the female who is on her knees trying to crawl away. He scoffs again, which gets my attention. He turns and kicks the woman in the stomach before pushing her away with his foot, causing her to slide across the floor. I bent down to try to help her as he yelled out. "DON'T TOUCH HER! SHE IS FINE!" I paused, not knowing if I should go against his orders or not.

But she is barely crawling and can't even get up on her own.. she needs help. "You can go, Norton.. Take her with you." Octavious demands as Norton listens like the little dog he is. He lifts the woman up and helps carry her out. We watch Norton leave the area for us to talk with him alone. I wait for him to put on something to cover him up, but he doesn't, he just stands there proudly. His chest is puffed out as he glares daggers at me. But I don't say a word, I just wait for what he wants to tell us.

"I would start this conversation, but you never bowed.. out of the respect you have for me.. That's how you're supposed to greet your leader." he smugly demands from us as I clench my teeth, knowing how much he is pushing my buttons, just wanting me to respond negatively just so he has reason to punish me once again. We both straighten up and faced him, before giving him a bow out of 'respect' so he will stop this nonsense and talk so we can get out of here.

Octavious huffs as if he was hoping we would object, but since we didn't he had to continue. "We need some big game.. keep an eye out.. and if you find something and bring it back, I will give you the rest of the night to relax and even a stay in the pit." he declares as our eyes widen with shock but appreciation for the prize to come if we find something.. I like being able to have the night off because that gives me time to explore without having the attention of others.. while I bet Roy will spend the entire night in the pit.

"But there hasn't been much for game around here lately." Roy says with question and hesitation in his tone, because it will be a feet for us to find something around the area, so we might have to go further than usual to complete this task. "Don't argue with the leader.. you do as you're told scum." Norton retorts from the doorway as we all glare back at him. "I can handle this without your help." Octavious spats right back at Norton and that's all he needs to shut up.

He turns his heated gaze away from us as he clears his throat, trying to look nonchalant about that response from the leader, but we know it hurt his ego since we think he is in love with the leader. We look back to Octavious trying to act as if that didn't even happen. He clears his throat louder than anything else in the room, trying to make sure our attention is on him. "Well then figure something out, like going further out." Octavious spats back as Roy asks. "So what if we go further and don't find much again." this causes Octavious to chuckle, but it sounds forced.

This reaction always puts me on edge because Octavious doesn't have a sense of humor that I know of, so if he is laughing it's not for a good reason. In an instant, Octavious grabs Roy's gun, swinging it around without hesitation and points the barrel straight into the bottom of his chin, causing both of our hearts to race. It looks like Roy is frozen stiff in place, just wondering if this is his last moment on this earth or if he will be given another chance. He is probably regretting ever saying a word to Octavious at this rate.

"Then don't come back if you can't find anything worth your life." he snaps back, causing the both of us to swallow the lump in our throats, looking back and forth between one another before the both of us start to nod, which causes him to smile and let go of Roy. "Good boys.. now go before I lose my patience." we nod and quickly leave the area before heading right back towards the exit. "Man he was really trying to get under your skin huh?" Roy spats as I nod my head, still clenching my teeth as I think about that interaction.

"Yeah, he always has something to say that he knows will make me mad.. I have just learned to keep my mouth shut so he doesn't think he won anything." I declare as he huffs out and states, "I wish I would have thought about that because my words almost got me killed." I look over at him to see his eyes are wide as he thinks about that interaction. "Yeah I figured you would have known that after all the bad interactions I have had with him." I state as if it should have been obvious to him, when I thought it was, but obviously not.

"Yeah, I was just surprised and caught off guard all around.. I should have thought about it.. Lesson learned.. So we better find something.. but what if it is not big enough for his liking?" Roy asks me with so much terror in his tone. "Then maybe if we don't find something big, we can find many small things and save our asses from being banned or killed.. but if we don't then I am not going back.. I won't face the fire of his wrath with empty hands, especially with all the hate he already has for me. He is looking for any reason to murder me." I declare as this gets him nodding with me as we leave the compound to start this new mission that is aligned with the old one now.

We walk for a long time, not saying a word to one another, keeping our eyes and ears open for any kind of food to be able to bring back, since I have always noticed more wildlife out and about at night more than anything else. We make sure to spread out but not too much to lose one another. That is until we get to the meeting place to relieve the other men waiting on us. "Where have you guys been? I might have to say something to the leader about your tardiness." Ben spats at us as he storms over.

"Ok be sure to tell him that because he is the reason we are late. He demanded a meeting with us when we were leaving, and we couldn't keep him waiting.. and you know that." I spat right back, since I hate Ben and don't care what he thinks of me nor my actions. Luckily, this comment shuts him right up as I hear Roy asking the other guard about anything seen but of course the story is the same.. nothing much out here at all. Just greenery further than we can see.

The men look exhausted as they walk past, leaving us to start our route here like we always do. "I think we should go out further than normal.. on our route around but end at the normal spot for our replacement and hopefully that is just enough area for us to cover and find something to bring back." Roy nods with me as starts leading us out, and I slightly follow before getting a little further away from him by the second.
