“Dude, I heard you. I cleaned up so that it looks descent” I sarcastically told Tristan, my cousin who works at the Mental Health Facility as the Head Attending-Psychiatrist “We’re near your place. Head’s up” Tristan said then hangs up. Today, someone will move in the vacant room of my apartment. My apartment has 2 separate rooms so I thought I might as well rent it to whoever is interested. Then, last week Tristan called and told me that a colleague from Canada would be doing a residency in the psychiatric facility he’s working at and he recommended the room I listed up for rent. It’s been a while since I had company, hope we get along though, new roommate. “Gage!!! Open up!” Tristan shouted outside and rang my doorbell non-stop that made me annoyed I furiously opened the door and shouted “What the hell is your problem?!” Tristan shoved me at rush to run inside my apartment “I need to pee” he said before locking my bathroom door. I scoffed while staring at the bathroom door when suddenly I heard a woman’s voice behind me “uhm…Good afternoon, you must be Mr. Gibson, my new landlord?” I turned around and looked down, Black long hair, Brown eyes. tan-skinned, 5 foot 2 tall, Asian girl. “Uhm…Yes, Gage Gibson and you are?” I asked while looking at her confusingly. “I’m Avery Cortez, I came with Dr. Harris, I’m the one who rented the you put for lease?” She said then smiled. I coughed lightly as I felt my chest lightly pounded as she smiled. She’s kinda cute but not my type. I heard a flushing noise so I turned over to the bathroom door to see Tristan and explain to me what’s happening. “Sup, I guess you two already introduced yourselves to each other” Tristan said as he walks directly at us “Would you mind asking her to come in at least?” Tristan sarcastically said while looking at me Oh yeah I forgot “Ms. Avery, would you like to come in?” I asked her. “Thank you, Mr. Gibson” she said and removed her sandals before walking in. “Ms. Avery, you don’t have to remove your sandals, it’s okay to walk in with it” I told her “No, it’s okay base on how shiny your floor is I guess you mopped your floor earlier and I don’t want to be rude.” I’m kind of shocked that she accurately guess that I mopped the floor earlier base on how shiny my floor now is. “Please have a sit” I gestured her to sit in the couch while Tristan just sits like he owns my place. “I hope you don’t take this offensively Ms. Avery but, I thought you’re a male? Well at least I assumed that you are” I asked while looking at Tristan She laughs lightly “It’s okay, none taken, I think Dr. Harris didn’t mentioned that I’m a female due to his busy schedule. Please forgive me for not contacting you personally” Ms. Avery said while smiling. “Oh sorry, I thought I mentioned that your new roommate is a she” Tristan sarcastically so I glared at him. “Anyway, Dr. Cortez here will be starting on Monday as an Intern in my Team, so please be nice and take care of her for the mean time as she adjust to the lakes of Florida.” He said while looking at me. “So, I’ll be leaving now. Dr. Cortez, please enjoy your weekend and I hope you’ll get familiar also with the unfamiliar wind of Florida.” Tristan added “One more thing Gage, assist Dr. Cortez to anything she wants to do and drive her to places she wants to go to. At least for a mean time that she’s not yet settled here” Tristan said “Fine” I rolled my eyes and walked him out the door. As Tristan left, I got inside and find Ms. Avery still sitting in the couch. I cleared my throat and asked her “So…Dr.-“ I didn’t get the chance to finished my sentence as she cuts me off “Oh no…Just call me Avery, Avery would be fine” while she waves her hand lightly while smiling. She looks cute even while doing a slight gesture. “Ohhh okay…Then, Avery would you like to see your room first? Tristan dropped your belongings in the room 2 days ago and yesterday.” I asked her “Uhm…yes, thank you Mr. Gibson” She replied “Just Gage, Gage is fine too” I said and smiled at her She shyly smiled and said “Well then, Thank you Gage.” and again my chest pounded so I turned around before she noticed that I’m blushing over her smile. “I lead you to your room, please follow me” I said and coughed a little and calm myself. ‘Knock it off Gage, she’s leasing your vacant room and besides she’s not your type moreover she’s out of your league.’ I scolded myself as I lead her to her room. I opened the door with the key and lead her inside the room. I opened the window in her room so the air breeze would come in. “So, this will be your room. The window is not that complicated to open neither closing it. While, this door is a closet and this cabinet right here is a shoe storage.” I gave her a tour in her room. “If you need anything, my room is just right next to yours. Just knocked in” I told her and prepared to leave “Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you that Kitchen and Bathroom will be shared and all of the places in here is shared aside from bedrooms, is that okay?” I added “Oh sure, I have no problem with that. Thank you, Gage” She replied and smiled at me “Okay then, here’s the key to your room, I have no spear key to this room so please take care of it.” I said and give the key to her room to her “Thank you, I’ll keep it with me at all times” she replied “And I forgot to give this to you earlier, it’s my lease contract” she said as she hands me a folder along with a small elegant black gift box. I received the folder and the box. “It’s a candle that I made while I’m still in Canada, it’s a soy based wax so it’s eco friendly.” She explained. I carefully opened the box and saw a jar, I opened it and the scent of vanilla tingles my nose immediately. It smells so warm. “Thank you for this” as I proceed to smell it in instant. “It smells so warm and sweet, I like it” I added and smiled at her I saw her eyes soften “You’re welcome, I hope you would use it often” she said while smiling again. “Will do, thanks for this. I’ll be leaving your room now so that you can rest for a while. Knock on my door if you need anything.” I said before leaving and closing her door. As I walked into my room, I placed the scented candle that Avery gave me in my desk table. I can’t help but smell it over again. It has an addicting aroma. I’m usually not a fan of sweet kind aromas but the candle is more of giving me a warm aroma than sweet. I hope that make sense. Anyway, to take my mind off. I prepared a game in my computer and proceed to hit the record button. “Hello guys, how have you been? Today I’ll be playing a horror game from ****** Art, the game is called *****, where I’ll be playing as a Barista working night shift. Without further ado let’s play.” Just like that my day as a content creator started.
