Chapter Eleven

Richard's POV

Later today, I am going to have to conduct an interview with the new applicants for two more secretaries to be assigned to my office. Mr. Green has been calling me non stop for her daughter to work here. I obliged and though her daughter did not score any points in the written exam, I still asked the HR to include her in the interview for later.

How can Mr. Green asks for such a favor if he knows his daughter was good for nothing. As I remember our conversation, "Mr. Knnox, you don't think I didn't know that your new assistant had been hired under the table?"

"What do you mean?"

"Everyone in the company was talking about how your new assistant was your woman. That's why you hired her without undergoing any process."

"Is that so? And where did that issue start?"

"How would I know? Maybe it was from the moment you hired her."

"Alright, I will give Lesly a chance, but she needs to undergo the usual hiring process."

"OK, Thank you Mr. Knox." and he's gone.

Mr. Green was overestimating his daughter and underestimating him. If he thinks that I am going to hire Lesly as my secretary, he's definitely wrong. It's not easy being one. I already have three secretaries, but because of the new companies that Knox Corp. has acquired recently, I need to add two more.

More work had been piled up on my secretary's table, but though Lewis and Eolly were helping them, it was not enough. There are things that Lewis and Eolly also need to do as my assistants.

As I was about to go to my office, I saw Lewis going to the pantry, so I went with him. As we approached the pantry, we heard voices, "Excuse me?" As we heard it, Lewis looked at me.. I gave him a sign to stop and listen. It was Eolly.

"How many times did you sleep with Mr. Knox that he broke his rule of no hiring under the table?" Lily, one of my secretaries asked Eolly. I was intrigued about how Eolly would handle the situation.

"Oh that.... not so many times yet dear. We have just started our affair, so you should expect more in the future. Maybe because I was a virgin, that is why Mr. Knox values me more. After all, he was the first man in my life," Eolly answered. I wanted to laugh really hard when I heard that. I looked at Lewis and saw his face shocked and red all over. Lily was about to slap her but Lewis was fast enough to stop her. He joined their argument and I left the scene.

I knew Lewis would explain everything to Eolly, so I did not make time to show myself. I still needed to do something before the interview and I was planning to get it done before that.

I tried really hard to concentrate on my job. But the thoughts of Eolly's answer put me out of my mind. I, being the first man in her life and us being her lover, was getting into me. I know it wasn't true, but I can't help it. There was something inside me that wanted it.

During the interview, there were a total of five interviewees, wherein only two of them barely passed the test. I let the HR include two more of those who failed and Lesly. HR must be thinking that I was starting to hire someone from the ones he knew because of Eolly. But they should know better that my rules are rules that are not to be broken.

Lesly, as I have known, was full of herself, making the other two who passed the test nervous. The interview was done, and I let Leila announce the one who got hired and I left.

I was about to get inside my office when Lewis approached me and said, "Sir, Lesly was enraged and she could not stop her. The two newly hired secretaries were worried and the other two who did not pass were being dragged into the matter too. Leila texted and told me that Ms. Lesly did not like that she didn't get hired."

" OK, let's go back there."

Lewis and I were in the testing and interview door when I heard Eolly.

"Leila, give me Ms. Green's test papers as well as the others." After a while,

"Ms. Raine and Mr. Dean barely got the average score. The other two, Ms. Reese and Mr. Ryan got 23 and 46 points respectively, and you Ms. Lesly scored nothing. You were given one and a half hours to answer these tests and only got these scores. While I perfected all of these, in addition to Mr. Knox's newly generated questionnaires. On top of that, I was done in merely ten minutes. Now tell me, Ms. Lesly, between us, who is worthy of the position? Cat got your tongue? I already explained to you, can you apologize to Leila now?"Can you apologize to Leila now?"

"Another thing, Ms. Lesly, listen to me and listen very well. This is Knox Corp., a bratty b***h like you who only knows how to be slutty will never have a chance to get hired here, and because you lose the chance that Mr. Knox has given you to be hired, you can start picking up your things and leave."

Before Lesly could utter a word, I asked Eolly, "Eolly, what is taking you so long to get the new secretary?"

"I am very sorry, Mr. Knox, I just need to give some sense to one of the applicants who thinks highly of herself, but other than being human, but actually inhumane, was brainless."

"I see, what Ms. Lesley needs to apologize for it?"

"She slapped Leila when she tried to explain why we did not hire her."

"Ms. Lesly, what are you waiting for? Apologize, NOW!" Lesly was furious but cannot do anything.

"I'm sorry Ms. Leila."

"It is done now. Wrap it up and get back to work," I said and left with a smile on my lips. Eolly really was capable. I don't think that the humor of how she got hired will still linger for long.

Everything went smoothly. Eolly and Leila get along well and I think Leila was happy to learn from Eolly too. I know that there are others who are not happy with how Eolly got her job, but I know that the people in Tech Dept. will help her if ever. Other than that, Eolly is very capable. When it comes to argument, she wont stay behind.

It came to my knowledge also that Eolly believes in me. She has a very good understanding of how I run things in the company.

I was busying myself with the files that Lewis handed to me with regards to the private hospital in S City. It was stated that the hospital was in chaos because of a family feud. The first and third son were fighting over who would manage it. The first son, who was a business enthusiast, and the third son, who was a doctor.

The third son believes that he is the most suitable because he has more understanding regarding the hospital. But the first son believes he can handle the matters technically speaking and thinks that the hospital has the same managing system as the others.

The matter affected the hospital operation as the staff, personnel, doctors and nurses didn't know which one they would follow and get orders.

I looked at it and I was very interested.

"Lewis, please come in", I called Lewis.

"Yes Sir?"

"Inform Dr. Nick of my visit tomorrow. I want to discuss with him the matter of the hospital in S City."

"Yes Sir, is there anything else?"

"Uhm, tell Eolly to be ready at six in the morning, I will fetch her at her home because I will be bringing her with me to S City. Hand this over to her so she can have advanced knowledge of the acquisition. And lastly, take over all Eolly's work for the day tomorrow."

"Noted Sir." Lewis said and left.

Lewis's POV

I cannot believe what I heard in the pantry. I was wondering why Eolly took a long time to make tea so I followed her. I bummp into Mr. Knox and walk with him to the pantry. We hear a commotion and stop to listen to what's going on. It was Eolly talking to Lily and accusing her of being Mr. Knox's woman. That is why she got hired easily. I was shocked and looked at Mr. Knox. We continued listening and saw how red Mr. Knox's face was like when we heard what Eolly had said. She just confirmed that she and Mr. Knox had an affair. Mr. Knox gave me a nod. I knew exactly what he wanted me to do, and just in time before Lily could slap Eolly, I interrupted them. As I was about to get near them, Mr. Knox left.

During the interview earlier, Mr. Knox did not bring me with him. I stayed with Eolly and later heard her say that Mr. Knox wanted her to get the two newly hired secretaries for the briefing. Eolly left and liked Mr. Knox arrived.

Just a little later, Leila in the testing and interview room texted me that Ms. Lesly was enraged and furious and she could not handle her anymore.

"What's the matter?" Mr. Knox asked. I told him what Leila texted him and he asked me to come with him. Together, we went to the 16th floor. There we saw how Eolly handled the situation and though Ms. Lesley was very stubborn, Mr. Knox made her apologize to Leila for just what Eolly wanted. After that, he asked everyone to get back to work and leave with a smile on his lips. This incident made me prove that Eolly is Mr. Knox's apple of the eye.

Never in my life like Mr. Knox's assistant saw him favoring everyone in the company. No matter who the person was, especially a girl. But Eolly's presence made Mr. Knox a 360 degree turn.

And this hospital acquisition, I was the one who was supposed to come to him in S City but he wanted to bring Eolly with him instead. He has an important matter to attend to tomorrow and he left it for me, which was unusual.

The hospital acquisition was important though, but never in my working years with him that he handed a business matter alone. He just always took me with him or made me go first and then he would follow, if there was an inevitable circumstance.

Just like Mr. Knox wanted to. I went to Eolly and she was exactly done with the briefing with Leila. I handed her the details from the hospital and told her, "Eolly, please study this and be ready to go with Mr. Knox tomorrow at six in the morning in S City. He said he would be fetching you at your home"

Eolly looked puzzled and maybe wondering why she was being brought to the S City, so to save Mr. Knox face, I told her, "Mr. Knox needed to attend to some matters here and I would be the one who would do it for him. You are just new here and he can't just let you attend it by yourself." feeling nervous whether Eolly would accept his aliby or not.

"Alright, is there anything that I need to be cautious of at this meeting? Eolly asked me.

"Uhm, just read and study everything first. If you have a question after wards, you can ask me. But it would be better if you could ask Mr. Knox himself during your trip or later. You can go to his office anytime. So I will leave you alone so you can focus." I told her and left before she could ask more questions.

After informing Eolly about the trip, I went back to Mr. Knox's office to tell him that Eolly had been informed and is now looking at the details of the acquisition.

"Sir, I already told Eolly about your trip tomorrow. I told her that if she ever had any questions regarding the matter, she was free to come here and ask you."

"Thank you Lewis, you have already transferred 50 million dollars. That was supposed to be her compensation in settling the matter with the hacker?"

"Yes Sir, though I just transferred it online and did not give her the check anymore."

"I see, you could go". Mr. Knox said, and I left his office immediately.
