Richard's POV
The meeting was over and I went straight to Ms. Higgins as I looked forward to meeting her and conducting the interview. I knocked and slowly opened the door.
There is only one person in the room, so I guess I am facing Ms. Higgins right now. She looks younger than in her photo, maybe because of what she is wearing right now. Denim pants and jacket. Her top has a Bob Marley print on it. Her messy bun hair style fits her well and she looks fresh despite the holes in her denim jeans.
She has blonde hair, almond eyes, with very black orbs, every girl's to die for cheekbone. I don't know if she has put on a blush on but it looked natural to me. Her red and plump lips as if telling me to kiss her.
Why am I thinking this way? Is this really my type of girl? Looking at her makes me think of someone I don't want to remember. With this, I got a bit disappointed with myself. She was looking at me and I guess she was checking me out too. Maybe she saw the disappointment in my face, she stilled her composure with a stoic face and greeted me, extending her hand for a shake.
D**n she smells good. Not only did she look fresh, but she smelled fresh too. She uses baby cologne and I don't think women her age wear baby cologne nowadays. I maintained my stoic face so she wouldn't be able to tell how my thoughts were running. I looked at her and when I was about to take her hand, she took it back. She has a little patience, so I asked her to sit instead and explained why her interview got delayed. She said my assistant has told her already and that she intends to stay. That's why she is still here. She's a bit feisty too, I thought, making my brow arc. I'm starting to like her, but I don't want to be reminded of what had happened before. I don't know, but I feel like I'm not myself today.
When I reminded her of how she managed to get the chance to work here, she deliberately denied it and insisted on how capable she was. When she told me how she agreed with mom to apply here, I was stunned. Even Lewis did not manage to say anything. Her being too confident, I challenged her and told her that if she passed, she would be hired. She was an Accounting graduate so I wonder how she would react if she found out what the challenge was. I don't want to hire her, so I thought of this. At least I did not deliberately reject her. She's up for the challenge, so we head to the Tech Department.
The meeting earlier was because we had been hacked last night. Important files had been lost and millions of dollars were stolen. I got really mad when I found it. Right now, all my trackers are working together to recover all files that we lost.
In the Tech Department, I informed Ms. Higgins about the challenge and what she said pissed me off. I was about to lashed at her but she immediately took her words back and worked on the hacking matter. After about 45 minutes, she was done. The hacking incident wherein my trackers had been working on for almost 12 hours was settled by a single person in fu****g 45 minutes.
I asked Jayson, my head tech, to check her work. I was amazed when he told me that Ms. Higgins did not only penetrate the hackers' wall but also recovered all the files and data that we lost. Above all, the millions of dollars that I want to forget she got back too.
I scolded my personnel and I think they were probably thinking how f****d up they are. Ms. Higgins cut me off by asking when she could start her job. After telling her, she said goodbye, telling him she still had her best friend's blind date to ruin. I now believe she had said that her fee for this kind of work was pricey.
"Lewis, make a compensation check for Ms. Higgins"
"Yes Sir"
I was about to leave when Jayson told me something.
"Uhm, Sir, let me add this information to you. Ms. Higgins has strengthened our firewall. Our system is quite strong now and no ordinary hacker can penetrate it."
"What do you mean?"
"Sir, I think Ms. Higgins is the best hacker in J City. Being able to recover all our data is one thing, but recovering the money we lost was something ordinary hackers couldn't do. Even someone who many believe was good can't even do either of the two," Jayson explained.
"So you want me to assign Ms. Higgins in this department?"
"No Sir, I have a feeling she won't agree either. I'm just saying how valuable she was."
" OK, thank you for the information" I said and left.
I know nothing about these things. That's why I hired the best of the best. Coming from Jayson, who openly admitted how superior Ms. Higgins compared to him is something. No one in any field of profession would admit how the other is better than his or hers.
In my office, when I was still thinking about Ms. Higgins, Lewis got in and asked, "Sir, how much compensation will I give Ms. Higgins?"
"If I give Ms. Higgins the money we lost that she managed to recover. Do you think she will accept it?" I asked Lewis.
"I don't think so, Sir. Judging from Ms. Higgins' behavior earlier, I think she will decline it."
"OK, give her what you seemed fit and will not make her think that we are bribing her," I said with finality, and Lewis left my office. I tried to get rid of Ms. Higgins in my head the whole day. She has been occupying my mind from the moment I saw her and now that she is long gone, I want to see her again. It's a good thing that I cleared my schedule today because of the hacking incident. Thinking it would take a lot of time, I asked Lewis to cancel all my appointments today. Well it would if it had not been for Ms. Higgins. With these thoughts, I took out my phone and dialed the number.
