Third Person's POV
Eolly arrived at Knox building at 7:45 am. As she entered the building, she noticed that everyone was looking at her. Feeling uncomfortable with the stares, she walked straight to the elevator and headed to Mr. Knox's office.
Little did she know that the news of her being accepted without undergoing the procedure was spreading throughout the company. The true reason why she was hired was being concealed by Mr. Knox because he does not want his business enemies to know about her. Mr. Knox strongly believed that it was one of his competitors who was responsible for the hacking. He still asked Jayson to look into it. He can just ask Eolly to do it but he doesn't want her to feel exploited.
It was also Mr. Lewis's suggestion to protect Eolly. He thinks that Eolly was doing this hacking thing in secret and none of her clients, if ever she already had, knew about her identity.
Outside, Mr. Knox's office door, there stood Mr. Lewis, just as she neared him he spoke, "Ms. Higgins, Mr. Knox told me to brief you with your job description." "Alright, let's hear it Mr. Lewis," Eolly answered.
"First you can call me Lewis, we are in the same position so there's no seniority here." Mr. Lewis said. Eolly was lost for words when she heard it. She didn't know that she would be getting the assistant position. She was preparing to be a clerk for the finance or accounting department.
"Wait, what do you mean, the same position? Am I not assigned to the finance or accounting department? And please call me Eolly" she asked. "If that's what you want, Eolly" Mr. Lewis said. "Much better," Eolly replied gratefully.
"As I was saying, I am going to brief you about everything, Mr. Knox needed us to do work as his assistants." Mr. Lewis started his briefing with enthusiasm and Eolly listened diligently.
"That was all about it, Eolly. I am happy that you are a fast learner and I have explained to you everything. Still, if there is anything you're not sure about, you can always ask me. It is 10 o'clock, Mr. Knox usually has his coffee at this time. Could you make one for him? I already told you how to make his coffee, right? Mr. Lewis said and before she left, he handed her his cellphone and asked, "would you mind saving your number in case you need anything regarding our work?"
"OK, and save your number for mine while I'm in yours," Eolly said and done, and went to make Mr. Knox's coffee.
After making the coffee, Eolly knocked on Mr. Knox's office. "Come in" as she heard the permission to enter, Eolly opened the door and got in. He saw Mr. Knox in his usual office attire. His suit was hanging in the corner of his office, leaving him in his long sleeves. He was looking at the document on his table and the way he was holding his pen was "very manly", she thought to herself. Before Mr. Knox could get some idea of what she was running into her mind. She put the coffee on his table and said "your coffee Sir, is there anything you need from me?"
Without looking at her, Richard told her "Nothing, you can go." "I will take my leave then." Eolly said and walked out. As Eolly walked out of the office, she was thinking about what was wrong with him. She thought that they had separated last night peacefully, though she couldn't say it to herself. She left as fast as she could last night because she felt ashamed of her reaction. Eolly shrugged her shoulders and went to her table.
Richard, on the other hand, was eyeing her in the corner of his eyes the moment she entered his office. He could see her pause for a moment before giving him his coffee. He was again mesmerized by her side ponytail. She was wearing her usual skinny jeans but no holes in them this time and a blouse just up to her navel and top with a bolero. As she got near, he smelled her baby cologne scent once more, enough to make him totally out of his focus and, he took a deep breath. The incident from last night flashed into his mind again and the urge to get closer to her was intense. He sighed heavily and took a deep breath and decided to work again.
Eolly went to her desk and started to organize her working area. She was so busy that she did not notice that it was already lunch time. If not for Mr. Lewis reminded her of the time she would be out of it.
"Eolly it's lunch time."
"Oh it is? That was fast. I did not notice the time."
" These are the files that Mr. Knox will be needed for the meeting with the marketing department at 2. You can take your lunch first before arranging it." Mr. Lewis instructed her and left.
Eolly decided to make a food delivery. While waiting for her food to arrive, she started to arrange the files that were needed by Mr. Knox's in their meeting later. She was busying herself when she suddenly felt like someone was staring at her. When she looked up, she saw Mr. Knox at the entrance door, looking at her intently.
"Mr. Knox, is there anything that you need?" she asked hesitantly.
"Do you know what time it is?" Mr. Knox asked and Eolly looked at the time, thinking whether it was already time for his meeting. When she saw that it was only 12:20 and considering her food delivery had not arrived yet, she was certain that lunch break had not passed yet. She wondered why Mr. Knox looked so mad but still told him the time.
Mr. Knox was about to have his lunch when he suddenly looked at Eolly's workplace and found that she was still there doing something. He walked towards her slowly, which made Eolly not notice him. He stood by the door frame and looked at her intently when Eolly suddenly looked up and asked him. He answered her question with another question. When Eolly answered him nonchalantly, he got pissed.
"If you know that it was already 12:20, why are you still here and not having your lunch?" Mr. Knox continued asking her. Eolly told her that her food delivery had not arrived yet, so she was preparing the files that he would be needing for his meeting later. "I won't deliberately starve myself for work Sir, so rest assured I will have my lunch." she added.
" I don't care whether you do or don't starve yourself, when in the office you eat on time. It was my strict rule to never, I said never let work be a hindrance to any employee not taking their breaks on time. I believe Lewis has informed you about this" Mr. Knox's long litany of reminders.
Eolly was about to say something when a receptionist interrupted them hesitantly and gave her food delivery. She said thank you and got her lunch. When Eolly was about to go to her desk, she told Mr. Knox, "Sir, I have my lunch already, I will have it now and keep in mind about the office breaks."
Richard was about to leave her office when she said again, "Sir, can you please hold your anger, you will look old sooner if you always keep your brows creased. Please have your lunch now Sir. Maybe it was because your lunch was late. That is why you are not in a good mood. Enjoy your meal Sir."
Richard did not say anything and Eolly left his office.
