I ran as fast as I could when the bell rang. Telling us all that it's time for lunch. I ran towards the park, but I wasn't sure if I was right. I stopped when I reached the back of the last building. I don't think this is a garden. It was more of a forest, if I am not mistaken. But I am sure this is where I saw it the second time.
I started taking steps on so many trees. The sun is up and alive, but it feels like this forest owns its dark moon that the sun doesn't ray on this side of the school. Am I still at school?
"What are you doing here?" I almost jumped out of shock when I heard a voice behind me.
My eyes narrowed when I saw Francis.
"You're Francis, right?" I asked.
He didn't answer. He just stared at me with those hazel-colored eyes again.
"What are you doing here?" I asked again.
"I asked you first."
I looked for answers. "Air. I need air."
He then looked up at the sky. I saw his Adams apple moving up and down on his flawless white neck. I looked away.
"There is no wind here," he said.
I looked around. My forehead creased when I realized he was right. How come, though? There were so many trees. Is this side of the campus already abandoned?
"What are you doing here then?" I asked.
He can't be there for the air because... like he said, there is no air.
"I'm always here."
"So, this is like your territory?"
He just stared at me. I hate it. I hate that I am the one talking. This is so not me. I just wanted to know something because he feels so... different. And I am good at proving the difference between people.
"Do you not talk?"
"Get away from me," he said.
"Excuse me?"
"I said get away from me," he said with firm authority this time. Eyes cold and lips on a grim line.
"I'm sorry, but what is your problem? I'm not the one who's staring at his classmate for no reason and then pop out of the blue like a bubble here."
"You sure talk a lot."
"I don't!"
"Francis!" A woman's voice bombarded the whole place. She was wearing the school uniform but with a much shorter skirt.
She went to Francis and immediately circled her arm around his neck and pulled him for a kiss. A sloppy kiss. I looked away with my eyes wide in shock. Oh, my God?
I thought it would last for just a second and they would go away, but they didn't! I look so stupid waiting for them to finish because they are blocking the only way out!
I looked at them one more time and almost cried my eyes out when I saw Francis looking at me while kissing the girl. I saw how his tongue did the work even with his eyes open and looking into mine.
I looked away but I saw them stop in my peripheral vision.
"I'm not in the mood," I heard Francis.
My brow shot up. He's not in the mood to kiss? Seriously? So does he kiss anyone whenever he's in the mood?
I heard Francis chuckling. I looked at them, he was looking at me. He immediately looked at the girl and shooed her away.
"You owe me once, Francis," the girl said and walked away.
"So this is how you work here?"
"What?" his lips rose. "Kiss anyone whenever I'm in the mood?"
I stopped.
"I don't kiss anyone, Miss."
He is a jerk. He is not what I am looking for here.
"What exactly are you doing here?" he asked.
I rolled my eyes and started storming out. "It's none of your f*****g business."
I was about to walk past him when he pulled my arm back and swiftly a huge amount of wind circled around us. My eyes widened and I pushed his hand out of mine to catch who was running.
It stopped and I was meters away from Francis when the wind ended circling. My eyes widened and he was looking at me full of curiosity.
"What are you?" he asked.
A cold hand then held my arms from behind. I knew what he would do. He will break my bones by circling my arms from behind. I forced strength and did all my best to do it for him instead.
"Ahh!" it screamed.
I immediately moved away when I heard it was a girl's voice.
"You?" I yelled.
"Who the hell are you?" she asked me with gritted teeth. Her eyes turned red and her fangs were showing already. She was so ready to attack me when Francis made her stop.
Francis pulled the black cloak she was wearing and she was alarmed by it. They started fighting but Francis got pushed away. The girl then ran away from us.
I was right. I was right from the very beginning. My parents died in their hands and I saw it with both my eyes. The nightmares I have ever since then were all true. The lies all people tell me to believe were all a lie. Because now, all of it is true.
"A v-vampire," I whispered to myself.
Francis held my hand. I looked up into his eyes.
"It was a vampire."
He looks so shocked too. I took a deep breath and tried to process it all in my head.
My seatmate attacked me and she was a vampire!
