CHAPTER TWO

THE RUMOR Andorra's POV The sun was barely rising over the town of SunStone City as I stumbled into the bathroom, wondering why Ruby was so upset. As I made my way to the bathroom, I tried to shake off the thought of sleeping with Alpha's twin. But something felt off, a sense of unease lingering in the pit of my stomach. Could that be the rumor? But it was just a dream. Or wasn't it? As I entered the school grounds, I noticed the whispers and furtive glances directed my way. I furrowed my brow in confusion, wondering what could possibly be causing such a stir. Ignoring the prickle of anxiety creeping up my spine, I headed towards my locker. "Did you hear about Andorra?" a voice whispered behind me, causing me to freeze in place. I turned slowly, my heart pounding in my chest. "What about me?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady. The girl who had spoken, Sarah, looked at me with wide eyes, her expression a mix of pity and curiosity. "I heard... I heard you... you know," she said, her words coming out in a hushed rush. I felt my blood run cold as the pieces clicked into place. "Zula said you threw yourself at him last night." She replied mischievously, giggling and smiling. The realization hit like a ton of bricks, leaving me feeling sick to my stomach. "That's not true!" I protested, my voice rising in panic. But the damage was already done. The whispers grew louder, spreading like wildfire through the halls of Greenfield High. My mind raced as I tried to make sense of what was happening. How could such a rumor have started? And why Zula? I felt a surge of anger towards whoever had started the malicious gossip, but I knew deep down that it wouldn't be easy to quash the rumors now that they had taken root. Throughout the day, I felt the weight of the rumors bearing down on me, suffocating me with their relentless cruelty. Everywhere I turned, I could feel the accusing stares and hear the hushed whispers. It was as if the entire school had turned against me, casting judgment upon me without a second thought. As the final bell rang, signaling the end of the school day, I made a beeline for the exit. I couldn’t bear to spend another moment trapped within the suffocating confines of Greenfield High. I needed to escape, if only for a little while. I found myself at the edge of the nearby forest, the trees looming tall and imposing before me. Without hesitation, I plunged into the cool darkness of the woods, the sound of my footsteps echoing in the stillness of the afternoon. Lost in my thoughts, I wandered aimlessly through the forest, seeking solace in the quiet beauty of nature. As I walked, I couldn't shake the feeling that gnawed at me from within. How could my classmates, especially Ruby, believe such a ridiculous rumor? And why had Zula been dragged into it? Lost in my turmoil, I failed to notice the figure that emerged from the shadows ahead of me until it was too late. Startled, I stumbled backwards, my heart racing in fear. I almost felt my heart stop at the sight of Zula. Standing frozen, my legs could not move, and I craved to hide from him and his twin after that terrific dream, and my name all over the school. Gathering some courage, I tried to say “don’t come any closer, Zula”, putting some authority into my voice. “So much command for just a poor girl who cleans in exchange for her school fees, so, do you expect me to be scared? He asked sarcastically raising his brows as he pulled my hair roughly. “Do not touch me, you brute. I said “You went around telling everyone I threw myself at you.” “I never told anyone anything, rabbit ears, you should have a rethink” he said sweeping his hair with his hands backwards. “I came here for some privacy, now if you’d excuse me” he said firmly. “You’re a pain ” I replied furiously. “Someone is coming over to join me, except you want to watch us mmm…hmm, you get it? He said, smirking his lips. “Dumb prince”, I said, gathering my bags to leave Mrs. Nibs apartment, hoping her home isn’t that disorganized. As I walked swiftly out of the place, I beheld the most proud Amira Joss walking towards Zula, glaring at me in a very scornful manner. Oh, now it's clicking why Zula would walk into that deserted place, if it's not to smoke, it's to make out with his twins’ girlfriend. Still moving along the way, I came across Zika, his eyes glued on his phone, raising his head at intervals, so he wouldn't bump into people. Thankfully, he didn’t see me. It seems like they're sharing her, as they aren’t still sure if she's their true mate, that's what gossip girl Dara says, but I think it's because of her status and her beauty the follow her like a lost puppy. I always told her. The Alpha and Luna are desperate to know who their heir mate will be. Meanwhile, the twins are having fun with every hot girl in town, except, of course, the destitute. Time to face reality, I moved slowly, scouting with my eyes for Ruby. "Andorra! A voice called out my name from the side of my ear." Mrs. Nibs, of course. I expected it earlier. "Yes Mrs. Anderson, I'm on my way to your apartment." I said "Good, you're just in time" she said, handing me a bag "I got them from the grocery store, get them properly placed." "Alright, should I also prepare the pasta in the fridge for the kids?" I said as I took the keys from her too. "Yes, dear and make sure they eat it" Feeding the kids was the part of the duty I detested. Although Ruby always came to my aid with the children, I guess she'd still be mad about the rumor that I didn't know about. "Lest I forget, I do not want your friends around my house, unless you want your fees split up." She said, turning to leave. What the hell is up with this lady? Sometimes I presume she is mentally unstable. Totally disappointed I’d be going through the stress of feeding the kids by myself, I have to disobey my boss. I quickly dug out my phone hidden in my inner pocket to call Ruby. Due to its outdated qualities, I make sure no one’s looking when I pull it out as it causes stares and laughter from the other students, especially the alpha twin.” There she goes with her dilapidated android phone”. The voice sounded quite like Zula’s. It can’t be him, he should still be on the school farm. A nightmare during the day, I increased my pace, so they wouldn’t meet up with me, wondering why Ruby wouldn’t pick up her calls.” Stop running, we all saw your phone” he said, why Amira laughed rigorously and Zika had a smitten look on his face. “Let me be! Image destroyer” I said as I walked away, nearly running as their laughter sang in my head. On the third try, Ruby picked up the call “Hey d**k head, I’m at Mrs. Nibs place, and there’s this delicious pasta I’m having now, you’re distracting me with your calls” “What! You know she can act psycho. Sometimes do not eat it up, it’s for the kids.” I panicked, but she didn’t budge. All she could say was" Bye b***h”, then she hung up the call. Oh my God, I’m screwed.
