Chapter 89

1302 Words

OLIVIA “Noah?” A woman’s voice rang out, tinged with surprise. Noah and I were in the middle of dinner at a restaurant. He had picked me up after work, something I hadn’t expected at all. When he called earlier and said he was outside our company building, my nerves had gone into overdrive. Some of my colleagues still knew him as Isabel’s boyfriend, and the last thing I wanted was to become the center of another round of office gossip. Noah looked up as the woman approached our table. A flicker of uncertainty crossed his face, as if he were searching his memory. He looked at her a moment longer than was polite. She was probably one of the women he’d dated—he’d had so many that remembering them all would’ve been impossible. “It’s me—Miles, remember?” she said with a smile.
