  OLIVIA   I was in the kitchen, putting together a simple fruit platter for Hannah. I peeled a few mandarins, sliced apples and pears into neat pieces, and added a handful of orange wedges before arranging everything carefully on a plate.   Hannah was in her room, resting. I was about to call her to the living room when I suddenly felt a presence behind me. I startled, nearly dropping the knife, and turned to find Noah looming over me.   I didn’t notice him coming.
