  OLIVIA   Hannah went out to use the bathroom and quickly returned to her room afterward. I pushed her door open and stepped inside, placing a glass of warm milk on the bedside table.   I glanced at the wall clock. It was already ten in the evening. I hadn’t expected Noah and I would spend so much time in the kitchen.   Hannah sat up, drank the warm milk I’d prepared for her, then lay back down. Within minutes, her breathing evened out as she drifted into sleep.   Noah had already left by then.
