King Lithias POV
"Where is she!?" I yelled, slamming my fist against my desk. It had been 6 full moons and none of the useless scum I had hired had anything to show for. Looking around my office, it was filled with the only people I trusted with my life. The royal beta, Delta, my wife and my 2 twin sons.
"I think it's time we changed our strategy, your highness. The death toll is only rising, with the murders getting more and more extreme. The Alpha of Foreshow Plains was found murdered in his car this morning... his head was gone," my royal Beta Liam explained.
Shaking my head, I sighed. Where was this bloody assassin? I knew she was still residing somewhere in the Kingdom but no one had any idea where. It wasn't surprising though she was the most notorious killer in the Kingdom, maybe even in the whole world. Having earned the name the 'Silk Blood Rose Assassin,' by leaving behind a blood gift after every kill. She was a force to be reckoned with and I knew she would only come out when she chose to. We knew she was still here simply because every week she would strike, killing murderers, rapists, pedophiles, extremists and the corrupt rich.
"You're right, boys, it's time to bring out the elites. You know what to do," I turned to my boys, who were nodding in understanding... men. I corrected myself. But they would always be my little boys. Lyons and Ares had grown into strong and dependable men. Towering over most and built with pure muscle, they were much larger than their old man and more handsome.
Still, they definitely took after me in the look department compared to their mother. They were almost identical twins with scars distinguishing them apart. Looking at them now, I took in their dark features. Lyon had grown his hair to come down to his shoulder and mostly wore it back in a top knot, whereas Ares sported a shorter style of shaving both sides and longer tussles at the top.
Lyon had a scar running through his right eye, while Ares had a scar running through his left. They had been born with this and it was a mystery as to why. It gave them a savage appearance which corresponded to their personalities. Lyon was hot-headed with a short fuse and quick to respond with violence. That is why I often left him in charge of interrogations to appease his thirst for blood. Reveling in the pain of people who were against our Kingdom. He had never failed getting every ounce of information out of spies.
Ares was definitely more of an intellectual savage. Often he reminded me of a snake waiting for the perfect time to strike his victims. Calm and calculating but ruthless when provoked. He had mastered his skills in weaponry by the age of 13. He was not as quick as his brother to shift into his wolf counterpart, but when he did, his wolf and him merged into one. It was incredible to witness.
The twins were a force to be reckoned with. Their reputation had reached the other Kingdom's at 28 years of age. They were almost ready to be crowned as Kings and I could finally step down. But not before I found out which of the Kingdoms were staging a silent rebellion against us. We were arguably the strongest Kingdom of the 5.
I was pushed out of my thoughts by the melodious voice of my mate, Gina.
"Sweetie, are you sure that's wise? Why do we even need this assassin? Surely, we can go ahead with the plan and flush out the rat ourselves. Or we could hire another assassin, one that is readily accessible to us," she said as she came to stand next to me, she placed her delicate hand on my shoulder. Looking up at her, I was struck by her beautiful, delicate face. I couldn't wait to go into retirement and spend every day doing nothing but ravishing her until she begged me to stop.
"Yes, my love, the silk-blood-rose assassin is the only one for this mission. I will reveal everything when the time is right. These walls have ears, you know." Her face paled as she ran a hand through her strawberry blond locks. We were both in our mid 80's. However, because of werewolf generics, we both looked to be in our mid 40's.
"We will get the squad ready, father, and begin the hunt at dawn on the morrow," Ares stated as he turned to his brother, nodding. They both gave a small bow of the heads before departing the office.
"Liam, Mathew and Drake, make sure you are with them when they bring her in. The woman is unpredictable and I need everyone on high alert if they find her. No one has to know who she is. The last thing we need is for the other kingdoms to hear we have enlisted the assassin. Once we have her, the next phase of the plan will be initiated... the tournament," with that, I turned in my chair to look out the window. The sky was crystal clear and I pulled my wife into my lap and began stroking her hair as she nestled her face into the crook of my neck.
"Understood, your majesty," the royal chain replied in unison before also departing the office.
"Soon, we will be drinking margaritas at a quiet beach resort, sweetie," Gina mumbled.
"You better bring a trunk of bikini's with you then my love because I want nothing in the way when I pound you over and over again on the beach, in the water and on the bar," Gina moaned and lifted her head to smother me with her lips.
