Chapter 3

"I like you" I told him.
I don't know why I feel this way. I feel drawn to him in a way I never thought was possible.
This is our first encounter but it doesn't feel like it.
"You do?" Alex questioned.
I stared at him dreamily "Yes"
I tried to walk closer to him but as I took a step, he used his leg to trip me which made me fall to the ground.
Everyone laughed at me.
In a few seconds, Ava and her minions came out with evil smiles on their faces.
Ava high-fived Alex " Good one, honey"
I couldn't stop the tears from falling. I couldn't believe this was happening.
"Aww" Alex cooed "You actually thought I'd come down to your level? You actually thought I cared about you. You're even more delusional than I thought"
"So pathetic" Ava shook her head "You actually thought Alex would actually go for an Omega? You are really delusional"
"And stupid" Lorie added.
"What a loser" Jenny said.
I sat on the floor feeling like a huge pool of tears.
People laughed and pointed their fingers at me. They had their phones held high, taking photos and videos. The flashes of the cameras disturbed my eyes.
I wish I could just disappear. I wish I could die.
How stupid of me to think that someone would actually care about me. This isn't a movie. This is reality. Pathetic people like me can never get a happy ending.
The sound of laughter echoed in my ears. I heard the murmurings.
How can someone be so dumb?
I hid my face behind my palms. I cried out - silently wishing that this ordeal would be over soon.
"Hey! Hey" Alex's voice brought me out of my thoughts "Hey! Are you okay?"
I looked at him carefully.
To my surprise, his expression didn't change. I waited for a few seconds to see if something bad will happen. It was all in my head.
I blinked repeatedly at him. I probably look like a deer caught in headlights. I must look so stupid right now.
"Yeah. I'm fine"
I didn't even realise I zoned out. I let out a sigh of relief. I actually didn't tell him I liked him. It was all in my head. Thank the moon goddess.
I wouldn't have been able to live with myself if I had said that. It would have been the most embarrassing thing ever.
There's no way Alex would like a girl like me. Things like that only happens in the movies. He obviously didn't even know of my existence until today. Guys like him go for girls like his girlfriend- beautiful, curvy and popular. I'm just an Omega. Even the moon goddess isn't that generous.
"Are you sure?" Alex asked me "You seem pretty out of it. Did you hit your head? Did they do something to you?"
"No" I shook my head "I just had my head in the clouds for a minute, that's all"
He smiled warmly at me. I couldn't help but smile back.
We stood there, staring at each other as if we were the only ones who existed in the world - as if there was no one else there.
"I think this belongs to you" Bruno said, handing me my backpack.
"Thank you"
I totally. forgot about it. It probably fell when Ava pushed me.
"I'm Bruno" he introduced "This is Justin" he pointed at his other friend.
I shook their hands. I already knew their names but I didn't want to seem awkward.
"It's nice to meet you guys" I said.
"Sorry about what happened" Bruno said softly "I can't believe they actually did something like that"
Bruno is the quiet type. You can barely hear him when he talks.
They all had the same build as Alex - tall, muscular, charming eyes and totally gorgeous plus they were all nice.
How can people be so perfect? They look like they came out of the front page of a Vogue magazine.
"It's fine" I responded "I'm used to it"
"You don't have to be" Alex said "I'll do everything in my power to make sure this doesn't happen again"
I could listen to his voice over and over again. It sent shivers down my spine.
It's the kind of voice you want to hear when you wake up in the morning.
I appreciate Alex being nice and all but Ava will get her revenge. It's a canon event.
Sadly, there's no stopping it. She'll just be more careful the next time she gets me. I'll have to be at alert.
"Thank you all for saving me" I said "I really appreciate it"
"No problem, baby" Justin said, flipping his hair "I'll save you anytime any day"
"Justin" Bruno groaned "Don't embarrass yourself, please"
"What? She's gorgeous plus she was a damsel in distress. I don't mind. What's your number, gorgeous?" he winked at me.
I giggled "I don't have a phone"
It's the truth. Everyone my age had a phone but I didn't.
Who would get it for me anyway?
"We'll do it the old school way then. We'll write letters. I'll even throw rocks at your window. Anything for you, senorita"
"Senorita?" Bruno shrieked "Who even says that these days?"
"You know what you need, Bruno? Some p***y. Maybe if you get laid, you won't be so uptight. You're spoiling my game here"
I chuckled.
I can't believe I'm here joking with the most gorgeous and popular guys in school. If this is a dream, I don't want to wake up.
How come they're so nice?
"So what's it going to be, beauty?" Justin asked me "Should we meet up by midnight?"
I couldn't help but laugh. I can't take Justin seriously.
I can tell them by their personalities.
Justin is the goofy and flirty one.
Bruno is the quiet and smart one.
Alex is the mature one and obviously the leader of the group.
"She's not interested in you, dumbass" Alex says "Let's go inside. Class is about to start"
"Till we meet again, my love" Justin said. He held my hand and kissed it.
"Bye guys" I waved to them as I made my way to my next class.
"Bye" they chorused.
Alex and I made eye contact. For a minute, it felt like we were the only people standing there and others had disappeared.
I don't know why I felt drawn to him. I could feel this connection but I didn't know what it was.
I think he feels the same way because he kept looking at me.
I had to tear my eyes away from him. Nothing can happen between us.
It's all in my head.
