Chapter 106
Alaric's POV
We both understood that to keep everything under cover and not to endanger ourselves, it was better we pretended like we were still under the influence of the poison.
Although we were weak, luckily for us we woke up right in time for us to understand what was going around us which was going to be to our advantage eventually.
The door to the cage opened even if we had our eyes closed, pretending we could still use our ears and other senses to understand what was going on.
We were carried out of the cages and a blindfold was placed in our eyes. I assumed that was because they didn’t want us to know our way around here.
It turned out they were smarter than I thought. I could feel a lot of presence beside us so I knew we were heavily guarded and running out wasn’t going to be a good option.
I just hoped Ryan didn’t think of doing anything stupid because any silly mistakes he makes would jeopardize everything we’ve planned on doing.
I’ve never needed Selene as much as I did right now because she was our best chance at escaping.
I thought about Arielle and wondered what sort of situation she’d be in now. I wanted to believe that she was who she was and she was going to keep herself safe.
But I still needed to get her because these rogues are more crazy than I expected. A door was opened and we were being pushed in and then I heard the doors close behind us.
They already had our hands tied behind us as we walked and made several turns which I made sure I remembered because I knew it would be the only way we’d get out of here.
“The masters are going to be so glad we finally completed our mission.” One of the rogues walking with us said to another and they all laughed.
Masters? So more than one person was controlling this operation. But really, who were these people? The fists rogue we killed mentioned his brothers were coming after us, could they be his brothers? If they were, they weren’t going to let us go because they would blame us for the death of their brother.
I snapped out of my thoughts to pay more attention to the hallways and the turns we made and I hoped Ryan was smart enough to do the same.
We finally came to a halt and I assumed we were finally at our destination. I heard the sound of some buttons so I figured that there was an access to the room, like a password or something like that.
I tried to learn the rhythm but it was too fast for me to grasp. We were pushed into the room and were pushed on the floor. I struggled to sit up straight even if my head was still aching as well as my whole body.
The blindfold was still on so it was impossible to understand what was happening around us. But I could feel a lot of presence in the room like they were staring at us or something.
“Take their blindfolds off.” A stern voice ordered and the rogues walked over to us and took the blindfold us aggressively and afterward poured a large sum of water on our faces.
When I finally get my hands on these idiots, I’ll make them pay for every single thing. It was just best I waited for the perfect time to strike.
My eyes were aching when the blindfold was removed because of how tight they made it. I finally raised my gaze and scanned the room. I was right.
Identifying whoever was in the room was impossible because for some reason I didn’t understand they were all wearing masks. The masks were so weird to me because they weren’t the regular type of mask.
The masks had various weird patterns on them, like dogs, cats, rabbits, and other animals. I found that weird as well as the whole aura that was lingering around the air.
But I was ready for whatever was going to happen, the worst. They remained quiet staring at us like we were about to be laced on auction or something.
Ryan looked at me but I also didn’t have any idea of what was going on and the only way to find out was for them to say something.
I stared at all of them with obvious anger evident in my countenance, I would kill them all given the slightest opportunity.
“I need to commend you on a job well done.” A man said sternly looking at a masked woman who stood at the corner of the room. I couldn’t see her face but I could tell she had a fierce look on her face.
“I told you I knew what I was doing.” She replied with pride evident in her tone.
“Well, I guess I won’t doubt you next time because without your substance, it would have been very hard to c***k these two but thankfully, we have them here. You’re so good at what you do.” He commended her further.
So she was the one that made the poison that was more powerful than wolfbane? Why would a pill maker associate herself with rogues? That didn’t make any sense to me. They must have promised her something worth it.
I stared at the man who approached us, he seemed to be the boss or whoever was in charge because he was the one calling the shots around here. He walked toward us with a very bright smile on my face, which I wished I could punch off his face.
He finally stopped a few feet from us.
“Alaric, and Ryan, you’re both welcome, your arrival has been long awaited. We’re sorry about the circumstances that led to your presence here.” He said with a bright smile like we weren’t brought here like animals.
“bastard!” I muttered.
