Chapter 104
Alaric's POV
So this was what was going on? They were planning all of this? The only thing I thought about at first was that we were cornered already and I dragged my men into this.
They were unconscious and I knew the effects of wolfsbane and they wouldn't have attended the party if I didn’t ask them to. I should have known there was something fishy when we were the only guests in attendance.
Now they were all suffering for my mistake and I felt so guilty about it. I knew they would have been on to us no matter what but I just made everything easy for them by bringing my men together in one place.
I stared at him with so much anger running through my veins and now it was just me and Ryan against this many wolves who had a poisoned dagger.
I was confused about the effect of the drug because it seemed stronger than wolfbane. After all, they were seriously unconscious and it didn’t seem like they were going to regain consciousness anytime soon.
“You won’t get away with this, whoever sent you should have told you that I don’t ever lose a fight, and I promise when I get my hands on you, I'll make you pay for every single thing,” I said gritting my teeth in anger.
He smiled at my remark and stepped closer to me with a daring look.
“Look around, you don’t know when to give up do you? There’s nothing you can do okay? So you should snap out of your delusions that are making you think you’ll win this one way or the other, you’re such an easy catch.”
I felt so stupid because basically I led us to danger and now that Arielle wasn’t here with us, I knew she was even in more danger.
This was bigger than I thought it was going to be. They wanted to take over everywhere. They were willing to kill everyone if it would mean they’d get to lead.
This wasn’t even supposed to be a fight, it was our home, our people and we weren’t supposed to sit back and watch them take everything away from us.
They took the one person that I cared so much about and that was more reason why I was going to make sure they didn’t get away with this.
We were surrounded and I knew if it came to worse Arielle would be left all alone. My head was crowded and I was unable to think straight.
I had to save her, I had to, she was waiting for me and I couldn't let her down, I needed to find her, and to do that I needed to stay alive and that was what I was going to do.
I stared at the rogues that surrounded us looking for a way out and then it clicked, was he working with the rogue we killed then? Who said his brother was coming after us?
If that was true then they planned all of this, all of it. They’ve been planning it ever since, the traveling, the attack, bringing us to this guest house, and everything.
So they killed part of them just to go ahead with the plan, that was just crazy and I didn’t want to believe they killed that much because of a stupid plan that I wasn’t going to let work.
I felt guilty immediately but I wanted to believe they didn’t have anything to do with it.
“Don’t tell me you know about everything, you killed them because of this?” I asked in disbelief with irritation evident in my countenance.
This was why they were separated from us, they had no humanity in them and they killed part of them because they wanted to achieve this. I'd never sacrifice my people for anything.
“What do you think? Great rewards come with great sacrifice and their sacrifice will never be forgotten, when we rule they’ll be remembered as warriors who fought for what was ours, they’re heroes.” He said with a smile and I was irritated with every single word that came out of his mouth.
“Are you even listening to yourself, you killed your people, you led them right to their death and now you’re saying some bullshit about them being heroes, you’re crazy.” I spat out!
I didn’t know why it triggered me this much because they lost more than five hundred of their men that night, all for what? Just so they could lead us to a trap? It wasn’t worth it, none of it is.
“What the hell is your business? That’s why rogues are different from you wolves. We are willing to do what it takes to win, and that’s what makes us different, we aren’t scared of death and we don’t mind losing our life for our cause.”
“You should be listening to yourself right now because you sound like a f*****g maniac, you’re a crazy psycho, and you’re going to lead the rest of them to their deaths and they don’t even know it, they think they’re warriors? You all are just silly, fighting for the wrong thing.”
“Enough of your talking, it’s easy for you to say because you weren’t cast out like we were. We have different goals so I don’t expect you to understand, get rid of them.” He said gritting his teeth.
“Any plans?”
“Avoid that f*****g the dagger with everything you got, one hit and you’re out,” I said calmly.
They attacked and we started fighting them off taking most of them out easily. Just when it seemed like we were finally winning, some rogue came into a room with a bag and threw it between us.
We stared at it, alarmed.
“What is it?” Ryan asked out loud.
Some smoke escaped the bag and it was then I noticed they all had masks covering their faces.
“Oh s**t!” I cussed out falling to the floor, losing consciousness.
