I woke up to sunlight beaming directly into my face and Adrian gone.
“Adrian!”
Nothing.
Damn, they took him again. But then that didn’t seem at all possible, because if they had done so, why wouldn’t they have dealt with me too? I mean, I was right next to him. With that in mind I was comforted, but not by much. I looked in the most obvious rooms—kitchen, bathroom, family room—but found nothing.
“You were looking for someone?” Kane asked as he walked in.
“Yes, I think Adrian was taken again, I can’t seem to find him anywhere!”
Placing his fingers to his mouth to shush me, he motioned for me to follow. Like a flash, I was there, in our room, and found Adrian asleep on the bed.
