4 The night was long. I stretched out my arms and felt nothing. Quickly I got up and made a mental scan of the house. I didn’t feel his presence anywhere, near or far. Panic ensued and I rushed down the stairs and out the front door. “Kane!” I tried to feel where he would be, but I wasn’t getting anything. Ideas started pouring in, none of which I liked and the worse was… nope, not thinking it. I went back into the house, got my car keys, and locked the front door. Thank God the car started up right away, although it needed gas. “Dad would be yelling right now if he saw how low the gas gauge is.” Mental note to stop at the station and fill it up.
