I didn't remember much, when my eyes opened I felt a cold sensation around my wrists. A heaviness weighed over them. Lifting my arms, I could see the silver chains wrapped around both my wrists. It was dark, I could barely see anything until my eyes adjusted to the dark cell I was trapped in. 'Sage? Sage, can you hear me?!' I begged down the connection line to my wolf. She was there, I could feel her, but she was weak from the silver. She gave me a small growl, assuring me she was with me. I sighed in relief.
There were no windows, only small cracks between the bricks that created the small square. I could hear talking outside the thick metal door, but I had no idea who it was. A creak came from the door and a tall figure stood in front of me. Before I could make out who or what it was, a sack was thrown over my head, and I was removed from my chains, being pushed and dragged around down what seemed to be a long hallway. I tugged on the closest bond I felt. I wasn't sure who it connected to, but when I felt the surge I knew it was Bellamy. He was alive. Thank you, moon goddess. A bit of relief fell from my chest, but it tensed back when I was thrown to my knees on a hard floor.
The sack was ripped from my head. Looking up, I saw a pale white woman standing before me. She was beautiful but lifeless. I couldn't feel or hear a heartbeat, or blood running through her veins. Vampire. I snarled through gritted teeth. "What the f**k do you want with me?" I snapped my teeth shut at the words. All she did was laugh, sitting on a smaller throne than the one it was next to. Who did the other belong to if she was in that one?
"Please, Maisie, don't be too angry with us. I only needed to speak with you." A male voice said. He appeared from behind the curtains to the right. My eyes followed him, he was tall like Bellamy, with similar eyes in a way, but his tattoos covered his arms up to his shoulders rather than following up to his neck. "Who are you?" I wasn't in the mood to play games, but I knew that I didn't have a choice in asking questions to somehow get information. "My name is Killian, son of Maurice, brother of Bellamy from the Ambersky pack." His smile said it all as he watched me piece all the information together. My eyes grew big, I was in awe, with no words able to form in my head, but my mouth spit out something. "You...you're supposed to be dead." It was five years ago when Bellamy's brother was murdered by a vampire clan claiming blood must have blood after he killed the daughter of an original vampire. His laugh made my stomach uneasy, his tongue glided across his lips. "Yes, but I'm not. See, that was all a coup to start my actual purpose in this life, to rule over both werewolves and vampires." Confusion filled my face, it went against our laws to mate with a vampire, and the two bloodlines mixed tainted the prophecies of nature, of the moon goddess.
"You betrayed us...you betrayed your brother, your family, your pack!" I screamed at him as I tried to stand on my own two feet, but the guards didn't allow it and I felt a fist strike my cheek. I collapsed trying to regain myself. "Yes, I did, but we all do things for the people we love, don't we, Maisie?" His tall stature stood in front of me, squatting down he was almost eye level with me. "Tell me, how terrified does your mate feel down that bond, hm?" He asked me in a cold tone. I reached for the bond and held it. I could feel Sage clawing at her bond with Volkro before it went silent again. His finger stroked down my cheek, lifting my chin to look at him. I could see hints of Bellamy within him, they had the same eyes, and the same brunette shaggy hair, but I could feel the difference in their souls. Killians' eyes were blue rather than green, they were crystal clear as if you could see your own life flash through seas of blue. "I can't wait to have fun with you, little one." He chimed before waving off the guards.
I was on my feet in a matter of minutes, being tugged back to that small cell. "STOP!" I screamed before I felt my arms snap the silver bonds in half. I didn't hesitate. I searched around for the closest exit. I was NOT going back into that cell. Running for a stained-glass window right as I jumped, I felt fingers wrapped around my hair and it tugged. I landed on my back, gasping for air.
"Take her to my chambers. I'd like to see what this dog has my brother and the elders so worked up about." Killian said, looking down at me. The guards didn't even try to lift me, they dragged me on the ground until I reached the stairs. One of them tossed me over their shoulder. When we arrived at the top of the steps, I was tossed onto the cold floor of a room. There was one window, but before I could think about crawling to it, I could see the tip of the mountain. 'Too high.' I thought to myself. I felt Sage whimper, and I did my best to comfort her. We had to get out before it was too late.
'I don't feel Volkro anymore.' She whined. I searched for the bright blue and orange bonds between my mate and our wolves. They were gone, but that was impossible. The only way that the bond could be gone was if...was if he rejected us. That wasn't possible. Bellamy wouldn't do something like that. Volkro wouldn't allow him.
The door opened to the room I was in. I sat in the corner, my knees pulled to my chest trying to take in as much fresh air before I was most likely chained back away from any daylight. "My brother has good taste, I will give him that." The snake-like voice filled the room, my head turned to look at the werewolf in front of me. I stood up and held my ground. "What do you want from me, Killian?" His head tilted while looking at me. Those blue eyes were so distinct it was hard to look away from them, I felt a pulse in my wrist and something inside me stirred. "I want you to help me be happy, and I will help you be happy." I gave him a disgusted look, "I am happy. Well, I WAS happy before you snatched me away from my pack." I practically spit the words towards him.
He moved and sat in front of me, crossing his legs. His fingers tapped his knee while he looked out at the Mountain View. "Did you know that the moon goddess is only supposed to allow us one fated mate in our lifetime?" He asked me. I nodded. I didn't have many words for him. "Did you also know that the moon goddess allows some people to have more than one mate if they're born from certain bloodlines?" I shook my head, it wasn't possible. No one ever had more than one mate, and only every few hundred years did the moon goddess bless someone with a second chance mate. "Why are you telling me this? I know the ways of our people." I said to the male sitting in front of me.
"I'm telling you because you Maisie Blake are mated to my brother Bellamy, and me."
