Chapter 2 - Maisie POV

583 Words
Sage and I talked about options for the bond. It was a struggle to feel the bond between my wolf and her fated mate, but I had to sit back and watch Bellamy entertain different girls throughout the pack. Don't get me wrong, I had a couple of rounds of sleeping about with some males, but he was always in my head even when I didn't want him to be. Laying flat looking up at the sky, I felt the water ripple, lifting my head I moved to tread the water lightly as I could barely touch it. "Hey, I haven't seen much of you the past couple of weeks." My head turned to look at Bellamy who was standing at the bottom with his arms out. "Yeah, sorry about that. I've just been busy." It was partially the truth, and partially a lie. I had been avoiding him. His head tilted, almost as if he knew I was lying. His arms were toned, his tan skin wrapped around my waist and I didn't hesitate to melt into his embrace, it wasn't often that they shared moments like this. Once the mate bond snapped in place, I knew that would change things. It was about patience. "How are things going with my dad?" I asked him, resting my arms around his neck. "They're alright, it takes a lot to learn Alpha laws and processes, but I'm glad someone as wise as your father is willing to teach me now rather than later." I smiled at him, there was a feeling in my stomach, but I fought every urge not to flat-out kiss him. Looking behind him, I caught a glance of Niyla and Orion heavily making out on a towel. "Oh get a room!" I yelled over at them, they didn't even acknowledge me when I spoke. Both of us laughed as he spun us around a bit in the water. "Volko wants to know if you and Sage want to go for a run tonight during the crescent moon?" I smiled widely, I felt a surge of excitement down the link between Sage and me. Nodding yes, I smiled. My right hand rested against his cheek, "So, inviting Kennedy to the party?" I said with a hint of bitterness in my tone. She was Bellamy's current flavor of the month. He scoffed, rolling those beautiful green eyes. "Not as my date, maybe a late-night f**k, but that's it." I felt sick, pushing myself out of his arms I slowly swam towards the shore. His hand wrapped around my ankle, pulling me back to him, "What was that about?" He asked. My head bobbed above the water and my golden brown eyes rolled heavily. "Nothing," I said with a bite behind it and turned to swim again, but I was dragged back by him. "Maisie, I'm not stupid, you're lying to me. Why?" His eyebrows raised. I wouldn't look at him, but I knew the look he was giving me. "Ask your wolf." That's all I said before swimming away faster this time, so he was unable to snag me back. Walking back up the shoreline, I threw my t-shirt back over my body and my long burgundy hair into a wet messy bun. "I'll see you guys later," I said, tossing my pack over my shoulder and walking up the path. I needed time to think, to not be around him right now before I blew a fuse at the moon goddess.
