Chapter 1 - The Divorce Contract
The pen felt heavy in my hand.
I, Evelyn Rose Carter, was signing away 3 years of marriage with one stroke.
$5 million. One house in the suburbs. And one rule written in bold red letters: NO CHILDREN.
Damien Carter didn't even look at me. He sat across the massive mahogany desk in his CEO office, wearing that $10,000 black suit. His face was like stone. Cold. Ruthless. The Alpha of the Northern Wolf Pack. The most powerful man in the city. My husband.
"Sign it," he said. His voice had zero emotion. "This is for the best."
For the best? After I found him with his secretary? After he told me I was "too weak" to be his Luna?
My hand shook but I signed: Evelyn Rose Carter.
Because Damien could never know the truth.
I was already 8 weeks pregnant. With twins.
His twins.
The contract was clear. If I had children, I would get nothing. And he would take them.
I couldn't let that happen.
I stood up, grabbed my single suitcase, and walked out of Carter Tower for the last time. The $5 million was already in my account. Enough to disappear.
The elevator doors closed behind me.
And with them, I closed the door on my old life.
Outside, it was raining. I put my hand on my still-flat stomach and whispered, "Don't worry babies. Mommy will protect you."
I had no idea that in 9 months, Damien would be hunting me down.
And he would find out everything.
