I only cry when it rains

"Avery wake up! Wake up now ! We almost there. You can't leave me here by myself . 10years ago I was 15 years old when my mother disappeared with our father . Leaving me and my sister Avery behind . I remember it like it was a sad movie I watched on lifetime. It was a cold January night. My sister snatch me from my sleep. It was a thick cloud of smoke blinding me. I grabbed my sister hand and Ran down the stairs out the house. Police and fire fighters ,As we stood in the front of the home i once lived with a happy family. As the social worker that told us we would never split up, try to rip my sister from my hands. I blackout , all I remember I'm running down the blocks with the rock I bash her in the head with and pulling Avery hand not looking back. Running thru bloçk and back yards. We ran so far, we ran until we couldn't run no more. We made it to a park and hid in a purple tunnel in the sand . Shaking in fear . I have no idea what to do next. All I can see is my little sister confuse and hurt of losing our parents and the home we grew up in all in one day. "Avery everything going to be okay , we will be together to the end nobody comes between us ....YOU HEAR ME!"I held her face to look me in my eye to know I'm not going no where with out her we in it together. "Yes" I slept in that tunnel holding my sister hand like she wasn't going to be there when I open my eyes . We got up what felt like 7 am because sprinkler came on making us a lil damp as we ran thru to get to the side walk . Then I instantly got sad and worry when I hear Avery stomaches rumble. I know Avery is hungry, but We have no money , all we had was the clothes on our back. I'm 15 and barely know s**t . My mother never taught me s**t. I'm looking at my 12year old sister , that can't stop crying while she sits on the curve with me. I know she sad, I'm sad to but I can't let her see me cry. I got up from my seat and pulled my sister in the front of the grocery store across the street from the park. As Avery stand on the curve wiping her nose with the inside of her shirt , still got sand suck to her elbow. "Our mother been working nights lately because we behind on the rent. I took some money from my mother dresser because she forgot to get food, the refrigerator was literally empty ...... On the way here Avery fell and all the money fell in the sewer...." I let out tears but It felt like that was the wrong thing to do at the moment . I felt like I didn't know how I'm going to stop. "Aww you poor things " she hugged me tight , like she felt sooo bad she gave us hundred dollars. He was so mean to me and my brother that we would starve, but we left to stay with my grand parents" she pulled out a piece of paper and a pen . "Long story short it's always good to have a friend to talk to... Call me if you need anything , your mom is lucky to have such strong women on her side" she got in her all white BMW and drove off. We walked until we found some where to sleep . To save money I brought us a couple things from the dollar menu. "Dakota this way," she found an abandoned house . That was for rent . Luckily the back door had a dog door that Avery can fit thru. Looking around and I found a blanket they was using to cover the floor to paint the walls. As we sat and ate in silence . You can tell I am lost in my thoughts " Dakota I bet you mom's worrying shitless over us and knocking down blocks looking " she smile . I smile back because i didn't want her to worry. It's like did they die in the fire, did they try to kill us. The more I think the more I hurt about the situation. It so confusing because our father was the best dad ever normal dads go to work all day come home to eat dinner and tell funny jokes from work before we went to bed . Our Mother love us so much but you could tell she wasn't happy . Sometimes we would walk in from school and she would cry alone for hours. If we bump into them.....then it was faith" NEXT MORNING "We need to find a way to make money I can stretch this hundred but it is eventually going to go" as I'm talking I notice Avery staring at Some woman leaving the ATM . As I'm hearing the woman scream fade away as i hit couple corners and there she was sitting on the porch. " What the f**k Avery why did you make a decision without talking it out with me. You could've got us caught and in the home i go and idk where your going .....you want them to split us up!!!" "We need to move from this spot we too close to the crime" We started walking again down the block to find another spot to lay our head . We found a cheap motel that didn't check for IDs . Hooker running in and out with there tricks . And old man that drive a all white van , completely creepy. Room 4A smell like roach spray and cigarettes. But anything was better sleeping in home that nothing work and the waters cold. So we Both took turns in the shower . Wash our clothes by hand and then I realize my favorite jeans my mother helps me customize had a rip. "It's okay Dakota we can get you a new pair in the morning ...... Let's figure out how to work the TV " Digging in my pockets before I wash my jeans. I found Liz number. so I pick up the phone and d-i-a-l her number . "Hello this Liz" Present day As I put on my make up and look back at myself I'm about to be 25 in two days . I been working for Liz since I was 15 years old . Homeless , no parent , no hope . Just me and Avery . Liz gave us a way out .......true definiton of a trap queen . She use the girls to set up people that steals their money , got info they need or a problem to her and her husband's business. Once I set man to get shot right in front of me . Liz is who you will call if you need to clean up a mess and didn't want to get your hands dirty. So she send me to get close enough to get information like daily routines, family member , thing they love....shit like that . She Taught me how to walk in heels with confidence, how to be a woman. I been in this game for 10 years . Avery been in the game for 5. 23 years old with a soft ass. think she knows everything so hard headed I told her that I got this , just be a kid. But she right on the side of me . Sometime doing solo s**t I don't even know about. She don't even know what this business is about . She don't know how hard it is to sleep.. I owe Liz our lives and Avery doesn't know what it means one way out . "Dakota , next mark name is Kyle king . Dakota: I plan parties for big clubs nothing special but it pays the bills WBU Kyle: into sells I buy property and sale the pieces for the high boring but it pays the bills? I don't know the relationship but they been partners for a long time. So when do we take vacations and personal days?" "If you looking for Avery, I had to let her take you spot for a job that came up because your normal ass wasn't here" he walked away from me , then I get a text TEXT MESSAGE Liz : we need to talk ? I would like to see you at the spot . I wonder what she wanted. See wouldn't say Liz is my mom because she made it clear in the beginning it was business. Liz started acting strange when Mike made me head of all the girls . So of the girls call it jealousy. I don't wont none of this . Its all confusing to me , but don't get twisted I appreciate every thing she do for me . I just want to be normal , with a husband and alot of kids. I pulled up at the spot. "Have a seat I be with you in a min , just finishing this call" I walked in and sat on the leather seat . Low key nervous , but low key want to tell her to leave Kyle and meech alone , but that can blow up in my face . As I'm sitting here I notice I got really strong feelings for Kyle . Like I am willing to sacrifice my life for our love. "Hey, hows your day going today ?" " I'm good Liz , just wondering why I'm here this morning?" "We notice how much you approve and we would like to do something special.... Mike said you was complaining about being normal , so we got your own condo ..... Mike worries about you girls" "Avery can stay with me right" I turn and looked at Liz before I left on my way to my new home "Sure " I got in my ride and swoop and got Avery and was on our way to our new home. I don't how to feel or if I should f**k up a good thing.
