The heavy steel door clicked shut behind them, the sound echoing in the sudden silence of the hallway. Damien’s hand was a manacle around Elena’s wrist, his grip unyielding as he pulled her away from the private room and back towards the main floor of the clubhouse.
"Damien, wait," she pleaded, trying to dig her heels in. "I can't go back out there. They were looking at me like… like I was meat."
"You are," he said without turning, his voice flat and cold. "You're my meat. My property. And they need to see it. They need to smell me all over you."
The crude words sent a shiver of revulsion and unwanted excitement through her. He was right. The raw, predatory stares from the men downstairs had terrified her, but a dark, twisted part of her had preened under the knowledge that she belonged to the most powerful man in the room.
He dragged her back into the chaos. The music was louder now, the air thick with the smell of stale beer, sweat, and something else… something wild and musky that set her teeth on edge. Every eye in the room turned to them. The men didn't bother to hide their interest now. Their gazes roamed over her body, lingering on the fresh hickey blooming on her neck, a brand of Damien's possession.
A tall, broad-shouldered man with a thick, black beard and eyes the color of storm clouds pushed himself away from the bar. He wore the same leather vest as the others, but his patch was different. It read 'Enforcer'. He moved with a predatory grace that made the hair on Elena's arms stand up.
"Blackwood," the man grunted, his eyes locking onto Elena with an unnerving intensity. "So this is the new pet. Smells… human."
"Silas," Damien acknowledged, his tone warning. "She's with me."
"I can see that," Silas said, his lip curling into a sneer. "But is she pack? Or just a toy you'll break and discard?"
A low growl rumbled in Damien's chest. He stepped in front of Elena, shielding her with his body. "She's mine. That's all you need to know."
The tension in the room was thick enough to choke on. Elena could feel the power dynamic shifting, the unspoken challenge hanging in the air. These weren't just men in a motorcycle club. They were something more. Something primal.
Before Damien could respond, Jax swaggered over, a bottle of whiskey in his hand. "Easy, Silas. The boss knows what he's doing. Let the man enjoy his prize."
Jax's eyes met Elena's, a flicker of something unreadable in their depths. He was different from Damien. Where Damien was cold and possessive, Jax was all heat and amusement. He was a spark to Damien's inferno.
"Let's get you a drink, little bird," Jax said, reaching for her arm.
Damien's hand shot out, grabbing Jax's wrist in a grip that looked bone-crushing. "She doesn't drink whiskey."
"Boss, I was just—" Jax started, his smirk faltering.
"I know what you were just doing," Damien interrupted, his voice dangerously low. "Back off."
Jax raised his hands in surrender, but his eyes danced with mischief. "Whatever you say, boss."
Damien pulled Elena towards a secluded booth in the corner of the room. He slid in next to her, his arm wrapping around her shoulders, pulling her flush against his side. His touch was a brand, claiming her in front of everyone.
"You need to learn the rules," he murmured against her ear, his breath hot and possessive. "Rule number one: you don't talk to other men unless I say so. Rule number two: you don't let them touch you. Ever."
Elena nodded, her throat too tight to speak. She was trapped, a pawn in a game she didn't understand.
"Good girl," he praised, his hand sliding down her back to rest on her hip. He squeezed, his fingers digging into her flesh. "Now, watch and learn."
He nodded towards the bar, where Silas was now engaged in a heated argument with another member of the club. Their voices rose, the words lost in the din of the music, but the anger was palpable.
"Silas is my Enforcer," Damien explained. "He's the strongest of the pack, but he's not loyal. He thinks he should be Alpha."
"Alpha?" Elena whispered, the word feeling foreign and dangerous on her tongue.
Damien's eyes gleamed in the dim light. "That's right. And you, my dear Elena, are the key to me keeping that title."
Before she could ask what he meant, a fight broke out at the bar. Silas and the other man were throwing punches, their movements fluid and powerful. The other members of the club gathered around, cheering them on. It was a brutal, savage display, and Elena couldn't look away.
Damien watched with a detached interest, his fingers tracing circles on her hip. "This is how we settle things. With blood and fists. The strongest wins. The weakest submits."
He turned to look at her, his eyes dark and intense. "And you, Elena, will learn to submit."
The fight ended as quickly as it began, with Silas slamming the other man's head into the bar, knocking him unconscious. Silas wiped the blood from his split lip, his eyes finding Elena's across the room. He smirked, a look of pure, unadulterated triumph in his gaze.
"He's challenging you," Elena said, her voice trembling.
Damien nodded. "He thinks by bringing a human into the pack, I've shown weakness. He thinks I've gone soft."
He leaned in, his lips brushing against her ear. "He's wrong. I'm about to show him just how hard I can be."
He stood up, pulling her with him. "We're leaving. Now."
He dragged her through the crowd, his grip on her wrist tight. The men parted for them, their eyes full of respect and fear. As they reached the door, Silas stepped in front of them, blocking their path.
"Leaving so soon, Blackwood?" Silas sneered. "Don't you want to introduce your new pet to the rest of the pack?"
Damien's eyes narrowed, a dangerous glint in their depths. "Get out of my way, Silas."
"Or what?" Silas challenged. "You'll sic your little human on me?"
In a blur of motion, Damien's hand shot out, wrapping around Silas's throat. He lifted the bigger man off his feet, his muscles straining with the effort. Silas's face turned red, his eyes bulging as he clawed at Damien's hand.
"I am your Alpha," Damien snarled, his voice a low, guttural growl that seemed to shake the very foundations of the building. "You will show me respect. And you will not touch what is mine."
He threw Silas to the ground, where he landed in a heap, gasping for air. The room was silent, the only sound the ragged breathing of the defeated Enforcer.
Damien turned to Elena, his chest heaving, his eyes burning with a feral light. He grabbed her face, his fingers digging into her cheeks. "You see? You see what I am?"
Elena stared at him, her heart pounding in her chest. She saw the monster, the Alpha, the man who ruled with an iron fist. And she saw the man who had claimed her, body and soul.
"Yes," she whispered, her voice trembling. "I see."
"Good," he growled, before crashing his lips down on hers in a brutal, possessive kiss that left no room for doubt. She was his. And he would destroy anyone who dared to challenge that.
