"Molly!"
The world went spinning, and only when a burning pain flared in my cheek did I realize what had happened.
Liam had struck me.
In that instant, tears slipped silently down my face.
But Liam only gathered Molly into his arms.
When he looked at me, his eyes were blood-red, like he was looking at a mortal enemy.
"She organized this gathering specifically to apologize to you for what happened at the wedding. How dare you push her! Victoria, how did you become so vicious?"
I collapsed to the ground. Molly's words echoing endlessly in my head.
I laughed and I cried.
My mother had just died, and I was out front mourning her. And my fiancé? He was fooling around with another woman.
I stared fixedly at Liam's retreating back, and murmured, "Liam, I will never forgive you for as long as I live."
The man walking out the door froze, but he never turned around.
I stumbled back to my home, and pulled out the suitcase I had packed long ago.
I had just stepped out the gate when I saw Liam storming toward me, brimming with fury.
His eyes were blood-red, and his voice shook with rage, "Why did you do this? Why did you kill my child?"
I frowned and shoved him away. "I don't know what you're talking about."
Liam suddenly roared, "That hospital is the property of the Sinclair family! You ordered them to kill the baby in Molly's belly!"
His shouting left my mind blank, and I could only repeat the words mechanically.
"I didn't do it."
Just then, a sharp, urgent ringtone cut through the air.
Liam's assistant said in a panic, "Bad news, Sir! Madam has gone off the deep end and is going to jump off the building..."
The phone fell to the ground.
Liam roughly shoved me into the car, ran countless red lights, and finally reached the hospital.
When he saw Molly standing on the rooftop, his breathing turned ragged. It was as if he was about to lose his most priceless treasure, his face drained completely of color.
His whole body seemed to tremble faintly. His voice was rough and hoarse, "Molly, don't do anything reckless."
When Molly saw me, her emotion grew even more agitated.
"It's you! You killed my child!" She cried out miserably, tears streaming down her face nonstop.
She continued, "If you hate me, you can hit me and yell at me all you want! Why did you have to kill my child?!"
When I saw the blood-soaked child she held in her arms, I couldn't stop myself from retching.
"Baby, don't be afraid. Mommy's coming to keep you company right now!" Molly cried.
"No!" Liam shouted.
Just as Molly was about to jump, Liam suddenly kicked my knee out from under me, forcing me to kneel.
"Molly, I brought her here to apologize to our child. You can take out all your anger on her however you want. Just don't do anything reckless, okay?"
I looked at him in disbelief. "I didn't do it!"
But Liam would not listen anymore.
He looked at Molly, his voice thick with tears, "It's my fault. I shouldn't have divorced you out of petty anger. I failed to protect you and our child. Molly, come down. I'll do everything you say."
A flash of satisfaction seemed to cross Molly's eyes, but she still kept sobbing, "Then I want her to beg for forgiveness and apologize to my child!"
"Done." Liam didn't hesitate for a single moment.
"I want her to kneel at the hospital entrance and plead to the heavens to send my child off."
"Done."
"I want her… to never be able to become a mother for the rest of her life!"
"Done."
No sooner had he spoken than I was pinned down by his bodyguards.
I roared at the top of my lungs, "How dare you!"
But then, Liam's icy voice sounded from above my head, "Do exactly what your Madam says. Notify the doctor to prepare for a hysterectomy."
Again and again, my forehead was pounded against the ground until it was a bloody mess.
Blood trickled down, blinding my eyes.
Loud slaps echoed nonstop, and soon my cheeks were swollen badly.
I could bear it no longer, and whimpered for mercy, "Liam, I can’t stand the sight of blood."
The man only gave a cold, flat order, "Take her to surgery. Do not give her anesthetic. I want her to remember this lesson."
In the operating room, I could clearly feel the sensation of a knife cutting through my flesh.
Every cut was accompanied by my screams of agony, until everything before my eyes turned bright red and I could no longer stay conscious.
Right at the moment I was about to lose consciousness completely, someone kicked open the operating room door.
The lead surgeon, holding an iron tray with the embryo on it, ran to Liam panicking, tripping over his own feet.
"Mr. Hayes, how is there a child in her womb—"
Suddenly, Liam got a call from his grandfather.
The old man roared over the phone, "You bastard! What have you done to Victoria?"
