Grayson, can you hear me? I really miss you right now...
Was that Jojo linking him? When did she learn how to do that? Jojo? Are you linking me?
I am my big hunky Alpha...do you miss me?
You have no idea how badly I wish I could be on the trails with you right now. Kissing you passionately and holding you in my arms. Instead, I am in a meeting with your brother.
Hahaha...I guess I shouldn't mess with you then, we do not need Lane figuring it out.
I feel you are giving your brother a little too much credit but I agree. I actually need to concentrate and you in my head will stop that. I will find you later my sweet Luna.
"That was a long link. Problem?" asked Lane.
"Nope, just a pack member asking some questions about changes coming. Told them we were discussing it right now," Grayson replied smoothly.
"Cool. My mom linked me inviting you to dinner tonight for Jojo's Birthday. She requested spaghetti for dinner, so if you're down."
"I do love spaghetti, so I don't see how I cannot accept."
"Dinner is at 7pm. Now let's get these schedules figured out."

After a long walk in the woods, JoLynn decided to head back to the packhouse for a nap. Her lack of sleep last night was catching up to her and she didn't want to yawn in the middle of her birthday dinner. Jo started getting an odd tingling feeling down her spine right before she reached the edge of the forest and quickly knew why.
"Oh look, it's the pathetic excuse of a shewolf. So is your wolf just as pathetic as you?", Delia laughed at her.
Let me out and I will show her how "pathetic" we are mocked Lyra.
No Lyra. As much as I would love to see what you look like, Delia isn't worth the first shift.
"Delia I could care less what you think of me or my wolf. Please grow up already and leave me the hell alone!"
Delia quickly got up into JoLynn's face, so close she could smell her overwhelming perfume. "Don't talk back to me you little b*tch! You are trash and do not deserve to be apart of this pack anymore. Remember, I am the daughter of the Alpha, I will get you banished from here. Plus I have a higher ranking than you!"
"You are no longer the daughter of the Alpha." JoLynn retorted with a smirk on her face.
"What did you say to me?!" she screamed back.
"Are you that dumb that you don't remember last night? Your brother is now the Alpha, not your father. So I really want to see you convince Grayson to banish the little sister of his best friend & Beta. Not to mention, banishing the favorite niece of his beloved mother." JoLynn know the last part was going to piss Delia off, she was not a fan of how close JoLynn and Luna Everly were.
Delia screamed bloody murder at JoLynn and attacked. Before Jo could stop her, she was throwing her into the nearest tree. JoLynn was left with bruises and cuts along her arm and side. Delia pulled Jo's ponytail before she could recover, getting really close to JoLynn's ear.
"Listen here scum. I will get what I want no matter what. My brother and your brother will give into me, especially after I make up some horrific thing you did to me. So horrific, even my weakass mother won't want to save you!" Delia spat in her face before letting go of her and walking off.
JoLynn's arm had blood on it and didn't seem to be healing very fast. Lyra, why aren't I healing?
You are but it is slower. The more in sync we get and the more experience you get will make things faster. Remember, you just gained me today and we delayed shifting.
It made sense to JoLynn, but it was going to be hard to cover-up her arm in a tank top. She decided she would sneak into the back stairwell to get to her room. Hopefully, no one would see her on the way and she would be healed fully by the evening.

Grayson's phone vibrated in his pocket with a message that Hank is at the front gate with JoLynn's present. He was so excited to be able to give it to her before tonight. Gray messaged Hank back he was busy and to give the guard the gift; he would get to him. Gray quickly turned his attention back to Lane to finish up the scheduling.
"Well man, I think we have a really good start. We have 4 weeks of training schedules set; this will give us a good test of the new system," Grayson said to Lane.
"I agree." Lane started to get ready to leave. "Plus, I want to get a run in before dinner," he replied.
"Ok, I will meet you at 7 tonight for dinner."
Lane left his office and less than 2 minutes later the gate guard was at the door with JoLynn's gift.
"Alpha, the package delivered for you."
"Thank you Chris." Grayson took the small box from him before he returned to duty. Gray opened the dark blue velvet box and inside was the J-shaped pendant necklace he got for JoLynn. There were diamonds clustered in the center of the pendant and a simple engraving on the back. He had asked Hank to make it small so it wasn't instantly visible unless you looked for it. 'My Sweet Luna. Love Gray'
Grayson quickly grabbed his phone to head out, when he noticed Jojo walking back from the trails. Perfect timing my love, he thought. He rushed out of his office and straight to the back stairwell to meet her. They ended up running into each other on the 3rd floor landing.
"Sorry Grayson, I was just heading to take a quick nap. I will see you tonight." Jojo quickly turned and tried to hurry past him.
"Jojo wait, I have something for you," Grayson replied while grabbing her arm. She tried to hide it from him, but he noticed her flinch in pain. That is when he saw the bruises on her arm and remnants of cuts as well. Grayson loosened his grip and pulled her to himself for a closer look. He could tell her body was in the process of healing, but the purple bruises on her beautiful pale skin made him want to murder someone.
"WHO DID THIS TO YOU?" Grayson demanded in his Alpha tone, even though as his mate it would have little to no effect on JoLynn.
"Gray, I'm fine, now let me go before someone sees us," she hissed through her teeth.
He could tell his anger scared her a little and he was not going to get the answers he wanted. JoLynn was trying to act like his tone and anger didn't affect her, but her lip had a slight quiver and Gray could see the panic in her eyes. He didn't like that he made those beautiful ice blue eyes of hers fear him, he only wanted them to love him. Sliding his hand down her arm lightly, Gray intertwined their fingers and pulled her into a hug. She was stiff at first but quickly melts into his arms with a sign of relief.
"Please let me help you take care of this. I won't ask you anymore questions. I just want to make you feel better." She nodded to Grayson and they started walking to her room, hand in hand.
Grayson and JoLynn entered her room and locked the door; she definitely do not need her family coming in right now. It is going to be hard enough to keep Gray from freaking out again about her injuries. JoLynn did not need to deal with her family as well.
Gray pulled her into his arms, hugged her again and kiss her atop her mass of curls. He pulled back slightly and tipped her chin up slightly for a chaste kiss on the lips. The advantage of being 6 feet to Gray's 6'8" is that it didn't take much to make their lips meet. Maybe the Moon Goddess was right in making them mates, they really did fit together perfectly.
"Let's go to the bathroom so I can look at your arm closer," he said to her. "I think you are healing fine, just slowly being a new wolf, but I want to look closer." He takes JoLynn's hand and leads her to her private bathroom. JoLynn takes a seat on the edge of her large soaking tub and watched as Gray dampened a washcloth to clean her wounds.
He lifts her arm to look at and JoLynn turns to look at it as well. Her pale skin has some faint bruises and dried blood but nothing else. Grayson wipes the dried blood off and she sees no remnants of cuts. JoLynn had fully healed finally, even the bruises were almost all the way gone.
"Wow, my healing sure got quicker sooner than I expected; I was worried I wouldn't be healed before dinner tonight." JoLynn wondered to herself if it was because she was with her mate now. She had heard that mates can sometimes quicken the healing process. "Thank you for helping me clean it."
"I will do anything for you, my sweet Jojo." Grayson kissed her arm where she was injured, "all you have to do is ask." He sat down next to her, "I know I said I wouldn't ask, but can you please tell me what happened?"
Grayson took her hand in his and kissed each of her knuckles and turned his attention to JoLynn. Now she had to figure out how to tell her mate that his sister is who did this, too bad that won't happen. "It was a misunderstanding with a shewolf, but it isn't anything to worry about. In the end, it will work itself out." Smiling at her handsome mate, trying to convince him she is speaking the truth.
"Ok my sweet, I will let it go because I trust you. Please don't make me regret it." Grayson leaned over, kissing her lightly on the lips, just enough to make her feel loved. "Now to the reason I came looking for you, I have something for you...Happy Birthday Jojo."
JoLynn took the small blue velvet box from Grayson's hands, getting excited at the thought of a beautiful piece of jewelry. Pulling the box open, she saw a simple platinum necklace with a J-shaped pendant. Right in the center of the J was a cluster of diamonds, making the necklace the fanciest one she owned, but still simple looking like she preferred.
"Oh Gray, I love it! It is not too overdone, you know I love a more understated look." She threw her arms around his neck, crushing her lips against his. He pulled her over onto his body, straddling his lap while keeping they lips glued together. JoLynn could feel her lust for Gray rising, the mate bond was getting more intense between them, and she was actually starting to enjoy it. Grayson swept his hands down her hair and rested them on her jawline, before pulling away.
"Before my brain turns to mush from my need for you, I wanted to tell you that I had them engrave the back of the pendant. It is somewhat hidden so you could wear it without people seeing its from me." He took the pendant and turned it over to show her. On the stem of the J was a small engraving; JoLynn leaned down closer to read what it said. 'My Sweet Luna. Love, Gray'
"Oh Gray..." she leaned in and kissed him again. "Thank you."
"I know it is soon to talk about love, and I am not trying to pressure you, but I wanted you to know that is how I feel." He ran his hands down her back and started drawing small circles on her lower back. "I knew I would care deeply for whoever the Goddess mated me with, I was just so lucky that she decided we were meant to be together. That I was meant to be with someone I already adored." He kissed his way along her jaw, nipping lightly as he went, before stopping right next to her ear. "I love you JoLynn and I cannot wait to mark this beautiful neck and call you mine."
